Is there any evidence that the Earth was once as acidic as Venus? And do we know whether we are being pulled into the sun, or away from it?

It's just for my own curiousity sake, and I would like to be sent towards any reference books on the matter too, if you know of any - the internet isn't a good resource on this matter.
