Aww...well, you'll learn that I can be a silly reactionary sometimes. At worst I can be downright Victorian about :looks around: certain subjects.
I good part of it is the English language. What we call English wasn't spoken until around the reign of Edward III (when the cultural/political difference between France & England first became firmly planted). The Normans spoke French, and their subjects spoke Saxon. A 12% of the English language is directly from Latin too, because of the priests.
