Smile Crystal collection from my childhood...

When I was little I collected crystals. I didn't know why, but I really enjoyed them. As I grew up I become aware of more things esoteric, and again took interest in crystals. It was when I was at the crystal store a few months back when I realized- "Hey! I've got a big bag of crystals somewhere in a box at Mom's house!" So I went and found them... Two of my friends also collected crystals as children. Just wondering if anyone on IS collected crystals when they were young??

I started collecting crystals when I was little but I had the benefit of living relatively close to a crystal mine, our school would go on field trips there every year so I'd buy as many tumbled stones as I could. Then, after that, my family moved to the desert southwest. I can't imagine not having grown up as a rock hound.

Smile I did

I collected crystals and other stones from the time I was young; I just always had an attraction to them. I remember cleansing them in salt water for three days, before I learned to cleanse them more quickly with Reiki. I had a lot of semi-precious stones, and I also had one of those super-noisy rock-tumblers; which didn't produce the crystals and amethysts I was hoping for . I still have most of the stones I collected on my altar. I still add new ones sometimes .

When I was a little kid about 6/7 was when it started became OBSESSED with rocks/crystals. I have been ever since, it died for a few years when I couldn't get my parents to buy me anymore. I now am the proud owner of my babies about 80 or so different sizes, different types and I love them all! I have never been materalistic and when someone asks me most valuable object I usually say my family/friends, but i can say now that my crystals are in case of a fire I'd save them (and my geckos/frogs). Many people would say they are just pretty rocks but for me, they are so much more.

Quartz crystals, rose quartz and amethyst. I have a lot of these, including some big clusters with cut-outs for candles. I also have a tiger's eye that I really like, it's gold flecks change in the light, and I really love turquoise as well.

I like moldavite, azurite and lapis. I have a piece of Dioptase that really resonates with me, but theres just something about moldavite, I can't get enough. It comforts me, eases my homesickness
I didn't get into crystals until I was a teenager, but my son started collecting them at age 6.

I used to collect a lot of rocks and shells, crystals if I could find them - they were pretty rare in our parts though, I remember I used to love sitting on top of grandma's big hunk of fools gold, it was huge, bigger than me..

she had it in her garden and I spent lots of time out there..

Me too. Even know my desktop image is rocks.

Anyone else really sensitive to crystals? I had one that I eventually got rid of because of the energy it gave off...

depends on the crystal - I seem to be very sensitive to hematite although looking back now I am pretty sure the rock just had some bad energy imprinted on it..

I bought a crystal growing kit for my kids as a Summer craft. (OK I bought it for me to do with my kids). But still - here is an example of kit you can buy. We will see how it turns out.

nice - I remember them, I had one as a kid too. We had something else unique, salt crystals. We had a salt lake on our farm and quite often the tumble weed would fall in the salt lake creating these amazing salt crystals. It had shrimp in it too.
