Sacred Activism - a placeholder

Rate this Entry
First saw this term a few days ago. Wasn't sure what to make of it. Still thinking but want to put something down as a reminder.

First, there is a definitional tangle. Then, there needs to be depth.

Is the intention to sacralize activism or to conduct activism for the sacred? As usual, these are not mutually exclusive. Preliminarily however, sacralizing activism sounds like one has decided to put one's own divine stamp of approval on one's pre-existing opinions, probably one's political opinions. This could also be true of the latter but the tendency seems not as strong. Sacralized activism could have to do with some particular stance on abortion, for instance. Activism for the sacredness of life might or might not touch on abortion.

Stay tuned.
