Free will

Scientists are trying to convince us that there is no free will again, by suggesting that our brains decide what we are going to do, 7 seconds before we are even conscious of it. Therefore making out subconscious brains 7 seconds ahead of us! And this doesn’t say that we should pay more attention to our subconscious selves according to them, they simply think it means that there is in fact no free will as we perceive it. However, they reckon that the idea of mind reading is very much a possible reality of the future.

The idea that our subconscious processes information before it even reaches our conscious mind has been established for a while. It's pretty interesting, I don't know if this is mentioned at your link but your subconscious even gets visual images before the conscious mind does.

It's the only reason you can catch a fastball. If you had to consciously think about it you'd still be calculating trajectories while you were lying unconscious on the ground with a baseball sized lump on your forehead. :-)

But I don't think that interferes with free will. The really big choices are all conscious, well for most people anyway :-D

Love your work Raven... thanks for bringing cool stuff to my attention.

I think this might be what Tolle refers to as the space between the conscious mind and the consciousness of being conscious in A New Earth. That if you can harness and enjoy that space between perceiving and naming/judging/subcategorizing then you are becoming more aware.

I like posting these kinds of stuff as I am studying evoluntionary psychology and social history just to proove some scientists wrong about many things. As I believe they underestimate human capabilities and add to the boundaries that humanity has - as many people take a scientists word as gospel, especially the governments.
So, I am trying to become a psychologist that breaks the mould of normal psychiatric practises and research.

Oooo are you now!? Big ups on that.

Suggestion - write down all that you hope to achieve and what walls you want to break down now, in detail. In those kinds of professions it's very easy to get swept away from their kind of thinking about what can and can't be done. If you record your thoughts now, then you will be able to go back and look at them when ever you want!

Oh I know... I am 25 and starting this studies in September... I gave up psychology when I was 21 because they started to force me to think like them and at the time I was far more emotionally weaker than I am now and in so much doubt about my self, but IS has given me a realisation all that I thought thousands of others think the same only they wont do anything about it... well... now I am stronger and not emotionally weakened by bereavement, I am going back into the studies all guns blazing!
Because I know exactly what they try and do, they turn you into nodding dog ornaments which cars have, and veiw everyone in suspicion for being psychotic! hehe
Hence why I am a late starter in UNI! And I do know, that I have a lot of strength to get through it this time... because I am doing this with a strong goal to break through the system and make changes!
The day I start conforming is the day I will decide to leave again...

That's awesome to hear girl! And you will do so well too, because instead of believing it you'll be just learning theories and be able to weave wonderful essays without getting involved yourself. You'll be consciously aware of other possibles. I look forward to hearing more about your studies!
