My two beautiful goldfish, Mergel and Shergel, have both died!

Shergel was a shubunkin which is like a normal goldfish but with red, orange and black patches over its body (usually blue as well but Shergel only had a very tiny blue bit). Mergel was a Black Moor, completely black with goggly eyes and fancy fins (two pairs of fins at the back).

I don't know what it was that caused it but they were laying low for days then got hit by some infection or other. I tried to help with medicine but with no luck. Mergel died first a few days ago then Shergel yesterday, probably sad his friend had passed away as they were a pair.

That is so sad. They are indeed in a better place. Your friends on IS will comfort you. You have been here for us so many times, it's time we're here for you.

I had these two for a few years now and they had grown to around 7 inches in length each! Big fishies!

never been god with fish my last 5 fishis dyed i swered that u will never have fish again :.(

I shall do several water changes and a thorough clean, and use some general tonic stuff I have, then leave it running for a week or two.

I might buy three fish next time, one Black Moor and two normal ones but with the fancy fins. That's a good combination in feng shui. Black Moors are said to absorb bad luck and protect the household, and normal goldfish are said to attract good luck. It's a strange coincidence though that the day Mergel started to act strange was the day mum started her chemo again for the first time in six months!

I'll bring cushy hugs and cupkakes for zen, gosh, I am so sorry to hear of your fishies dying, but do get more, it will help with the loss, definitely! When one of my cats died, after this last christmas, it was a stab in the heart, but then I saw her in a dream, sitting on my grandmother's lap on her sarong, (like in the old days in Bangkok) and my grandmother waved to me and I felt/knew it was all better-BIG SUPER CUSHY HUG FOR YOU!!

zen buy some Red Belly Piranha they are the best :P very still not sow much movement but pretty and they eat everything easy to lock after don;t recommend putting other species of fish with them :P and sorry for your old fish hate wen pets dye i lost my fishes to :.(

I'm sorry zen - it looks like your fish freinds have joined my Jonah fish in that land of ever-rollling waves. It is always sad when a pet dies
