I choose to see
Note- I wanted to share something positive with the community after all my ranting lately. I wrote this short piece today, and I hope you enjoy it!
When people ask me if it's annoying that I must commute 30 minutes to work and back each day, I say no. I consider it a blessing. That lovely drive through the country that lies between the city I work in and the city I call home, with the vast open sky in front of me, good jams on the stereo and time alone with my thoughts always refreshes me somehow, a nice layer of cushion between the "me" I am at work and the "me" I am at home. Today, while making the usual trek homeward I was struck by a dose of enlightenment, which I welcomed. It was a beautiful fall day here, air crisp, leaves falling from the trees, and a sky full of amazing clouds, some puffy and white, some dark and full, some silvery, seemingly painted on. It didn't even look real. Black bird sillouettes flew across this painted scene, making me smile with their simple beauty. As I drove on, the sun began to break through various spots in the clouds, and as I looked to the west, it was like rays of light raining down upon the land, one after another, through many places in the cloud cover. ![]() ^Almost exactly like this. The beauty was astounding, and I found myself having trouble breaking my stare long enough to watch the road. It's not often you can SEE light in such a manner.. These amazing beams, so powerful, coming down to earth, could only be seen the way they were against a background of darkness, against the clouds. It made me think maybe life is the same way, we see the light because we survive through the darkness. We make it through the hard moments, the cloudy storms, and that is when God's light breaks through and touches us. Looking at this scene, I found it hard to understand how anyone can NOT have faith. Not even just in God, because I know some don't see things that way, but in.. life. In this. In the beauty of it all. My family members are like that, they would look at a scene like this and see nothing. I look at it, and see the meaning of life.. It reminded me of that movie SIGNS where the two guys are talking, and the one says that there are two types of people, the type who think life is nothing but a series of meaningless events based on chance or whatever, and the other type, the ones who choose faith, hope, and choose to see signs, to see the meaning behind things. I looked out my window, just as the sunlight broke through and one of those precious light beams landed right on my face, warming me, and said, "I choose to see you God." Within the deepest and most special part of myself, I distinctly heard a voice say back to me, "For that reason my child, I choose to see you." Love you all.

Hi! I knew you would reply first. Weird.
![]() I had to bump this, because it's sorta funny that on a board where everyone complains a lot about there being nothing but negativity only one person responded to my positive thread. Boo!

Absolutely gorgeous!
The light is fine in the foothills and it stops me every time I get near those mountains. The range of light eh? Have you ever seen the alpenglow from up above 8kft when the sunset reflects off the pacific and lights up the twilight above the sierra crest? |

^No, but it sounds like something I want to see!
When I was looking at the sky I was also thinking about what it would be like to view the sky from all the different parts of the world I want to see, and how the sky is the same everywhere, yet feels different when viewing it from different ground. Also a good metaphor for life. |
