Making Waves
So... lately there have been a lot of threads that I have christened the Making Waves threads... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about
people are trying to make a point or teach a lesson by going to extreme measures this makes me think two things 1) it is a negative way to spread a positive lesson yes perhaps your message is getting across but it's almost like the boy who cried wolf... and it only makes it harder to trust each other 2) why do people have to resort to this tactic just to get people to think of something in a new light? Aren't we all open minded here? or are we starting to close our minds a bit? This ad goes away when you register. |

I can understand your feelings, but isn't this thread going to cause waves too?
Hmm, also - I would have to say that all minds are limited, we can be 'open minded', but the mind still tends to get stuck in routines and beliefs - sometimes it takes something that is viewed as 'bad' to break us out of that routine - OR we learn how to go beyond the mind - which I can tell many aren't there yet, some I see as being on that path though. |

a possible explanation..
mars conjuncts with saturn on the 10th.. my fave astrology page (stariq.com) says "there's a ~10 day window oneither side" and that people will be "challenging," in the active sense of the word ![]() apart from that, the u.s. just had a 1 day patriotic holiday, it's the weekend, school's out.. people "get rowdy" ![]() patterns of behaviour come and go.. |

well it is true that my thread may infact make waves but it lacks the tactics I was speaking of for instance I was quiet clear with the intention of the thread as teh Making Waves threads are not
anyways... you bring up something I didn't think about before... I've been on the site for about 7 months now... and now I'm not a new person really anymore... maybe there are some indigos here that are behind me... in there discoveries and learning lessons I have already learned... perhaps that is why it bugs me a bit... I just do not like dishonesty and I think that there are better ways to get your point across than lieing or insulting each other by saying screw you I'm right your wrong.. that seems disrespectful to me I think people should politely post their ideas and feelings perhaps.... in a sense I am getting old... |

hmm, not to get off subject, but I had a CHALLENGING day at work today - my normal 'coolness' wasn't working and things were breaking around me and just not going right...
I was carving at the one job and when the guy came in to relive me, he wanted to know why the light bulb was out - I went to tap it with my knife to tell him it was somehow broken and the whole thing shattered into millions of pieces - all over the food and everything...then when I was cleaning it up (staying later to do so too...) I think it was a piece of glass that gave me a nice paper cut like thing on my hand... It was one of those "should have just stayed in bed" days... |

...and getting stuck in your ways It's ok, I sometimes do the same thing - but it really is better if you just relax and let people be who they are at the moment - you can not change the tigers stripes, only respect them for what they are. Then be who you think is the ideal person and you will most likely find others modeling them self after you - that's what happened to me, I didn't want them too...it just seems to happen. And don't get me wrong, I am not saying I am an 'idea' human being, I am just saying I have changed my focus towards the inner and now am becoming the person I am most comfortable with.

That's awesome SilverHaze - it is great that you are comfortable with who you are. I think that has to come first, may I suggest getting comfortable with who other people are as well?
There will always be the disrespectful ones out there for as long as there are respectful ones too - it's all a part of the beauty of the Master picture. ![]() But perhaps your role (if you chose it) is to be the one who scolds or points out the disrespectful ones - I don't know, but you do. |

I think part of the problem here is our language is based around an abusive system that conditions us. Some of us may be trying to learn how to express how we feel and speak open and honestly without sounding too abrasive. I am anyway.

Another problem people have, and one I've seen surface over and over, is the innate "need" to be the one who knows what they are doing...if this means giving advice (or re-wording advice that has already been given) or re-phrasing what someone has said to make it "clearer", then so be it, we leap at the opportunity.
Some questions I have to ask myself before I reply to anyone (in person, online or whatever) are:

then i'd never.. ![]() ..something i can tolerate in others and myself. sometimes we need to. (yes.. even you.. can feel the need now.. it's getting stronger.. you are getting sleepy..) i habitually read my previous posts on a thread.. sometimes i learn more from it than i do from reading new information

Sometimes I write out long replies, then just delete them. Most of the time I don't see how throwing in my 2c is going to benefit. Sometimes I'll PM someone a short note if I do have an offering of info or an idea. But, more often, not even that. I can't get caught up in the oppositional, dualistic, contentious stuff. It's wankage. ...edited to add: sometimes I do post so as to have a faint feeling of belonging...that's kind of pathetic! Jeez. Last edited by bluenote9; 07-07-2008 at 09:08 AM. Reason: xplication |

I like to post my ideas and have everyone reply with their own ideas about it It helps me learn and it helps me understand what I really feel or believe and why I feel or believe it but it ticks me off when I open up a discussion to brainstorm many different opinions and someone enters the thread thinking they have the one and only answer to my problem and that everyone else is sooo wrong but I don't believe things have only one answer or solution I want to hear everyones and I think people should understand that that is what I started the thread for many different points of view not just one

I don't think you're getting old, there's nothing wrong with giving and wanting respect - words on a screen can easily be misconstrued - we don't always get the irony or emotion behind them so it's left to our own interpretation, unless we know someone or are used to the way they post

and it wasn't just your thread I've seen a lot where a person just insults everyone who replies because they are stuck on the thought that they are the only one who is right |
