Psychedelics are a way of reaching other planes on some occasions, yes. They are actually far from controversial- they've been use by shamans the world over since pre-historic times. They are in fact the inspiration for much of our cave art. However, I prefer not to resort to using them. The same communication with the spiritual can be initiated with obe's and lucid dreaming- essentially all altered states of conciousness.
By the by, I highly reccomend that everyone here read "Supernatural" by Graham Hancock, which deals heavily with this theme and the nature of reality and more. One of the most shocking books I have ever read because he essentially discovered the origin of all spirituality in humankind (and trust me, its where you wouldn't think to find it, at first). Amazing book. Amazing. |

I'd rather not use them. Maybe it's egoistic of me, but I'd rather progress without external ''support''.

Thats a good reasn to use them... perhaps to EXPERIENCE the phyadelic experience. Something, perhaps, a lifetime of meditation and a thousand books could not impart to you.
Something so simple... so natural, so profound and Jimmy asked... but... are you experienced... Have you... ever... and i said well no... its beyond me. but I've read about it... on the walls of time.. by a light so subtle and bright.. may we be on our way now LOL bfrank |

If don Juan has taught me anything, it's that power plants can be used to shake you around a little and open your eyes to the bigger picture. But the path to knowledge or enlightenment can be traversed without them.
I see no major harm in the safe use of psychedelics, and yes I do believe there is a safe way to use psychedelics. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the trip is in the mind of the tripper. If you think you're going to have a bad trip, you're setting yourself up to have a bad trip. Like most psychoactive substances, your predisposition can play a MAJOR role in the effect of the substance. I say, experiment safely. And the best way to experiment more safely: Knowledge. Here is a site dedicated to educating people on the subject matter of psychoactive drugs, from plants to herbs to chemicals to inhalents, this site LITERALLY has it all. http://www.erowid.org |

I've always seen them as entities or teachers, and Euphoriant exposing me to the wonderful works of Castaneda on shamanism has only strengthened my beliefs and help me connect on deeper levels with my native background. I have never felt a recreational resonance with shrooms, weed, and LSA as I have beer. It has always been a deeply spiritual experience for me. Even the weed has always kicked me into a deep meditation mode, where I feel leave 'normal reality' in 5-20 minute increments, which is one of the reasons I quit; I am a social smoker, but I think sometimes people get worried/weirded out when they see me in this state, and I can meditate just fine without it. I will never stop practicing (neo)shamanism though, too many insights from these powerful beings we call psychedelics.

shamanism and plants go back 1000's of years
here's another site that deals with Psychedelics : http://www.shaman-australis.com.au/W...geframeset.htm The message board is very good - I haven't used anything since I have been at uni but I used to experiment quite a lot. Right now I have to be present so I will have to save that stuff for the holidays. I have some very interesting experiences with the plant Rue which if any of you have used it has some very interesting hallucinogenic properties. They actually use this in the holy water in the catholic religion to induce divine visions. Don't ever put it on your skin and go in the sun however as it has some very strange photogenic properties - put simply it will give you 2nd degree burns if you are in the sun for 10 mins with the sap of this on your skin. It happened to me - the ppl who advertised it said it was a good insect repellent and silly me I believed them, they failed to mention don't go into the sun with it. It put me in hospital for a week. |

The most interesting experiences I've had were on Salvia Divinorum or Mushrooms. Only once has Salvia been terrible to me, and it was only terrible because it made me laugh soooo hard. |

"smoke On The Water"
God himself placed the organics here in my opinion as "medicine for the perception and the soul".
Where WE screwed up (as always) is trying to improve on it... turn it into a pharmecuetical. The very best of weed/ganja and hashish is NOT THC (tetra-hydra-cannobinol) but it is PERFECT in it's original form! Willow bark is great for headaches and CHEWING the bark takes time. You MUST meditate after a fashion while you chew which makes the headache go away smoother. But what the heck - just take a couple of aspirin (willow bark extracted/synthesized) and continue banging your head on the wall. So now we have chemical mescaline (because peyote requires some effort) and chemical psylocybin (because mushrooms are hard to grow) at intense and insane dosages that go WHAM instead of WHOOOOSH as they were intended. The classic street-act these days is "Boy did I get fucked up". Yeah. No kidding. There is nothing sacred about synthetics. Nothing. It is like throwing a light switch rather than opening your eyes and opening your eyes is EXACTLY the intent of the organic versions of the crap being sold on the streets. AN ORGANIC PSYCHEDELLIC EXPERIENCE ALLOWS YOU TO PERCIEVE AND CORRECT THE MENTAL PROGRAMMING/BRAINWASHING OUR SOCIETY HAS SUBJECTED US TO. You even develop a distaste for TV and all forms of subliminal advertising. Imagine that. In the 60's there used to be a saying on the streets of San Fransisco; "If you don't know your drugs you'd better know your dealer". Ask him for Sally (Salvia Divinorum). She's really something. Both of her. ![]() |

Yes! I totally agree with you, freespeak, natural is the way to go. I can't stand TV, Radio, newspaper, or anything of the sort anymore, the brainwashing propaganda angers me greatly. The only TV I watch is adult swim and Current(which is on my tv as I write this). I wish they'd make a spiritual channel, like one with group meditations(mass peace/transcendental meditation, please!) and awareness on all levels, but that would never be allowed in this current paradigm we find ourselves in.
The psychedelic I wish to try most is Ayahuasca, it sounds like the ultimate as far as spiritual enlightenment through psychedelics goes. I think syrian rue can be added into this as an MAOI inhibitor, but I may be wrong. Erowid.com is the best site I've seen on psychedelic awareness/info. I also wanna try Mescalito, Datura, and mushrooms(I have done them any times, but I keep hitting this block, where I feel like I can leave this reality if I want, but I've never done it for fear of not coming back. Now I think I'm ready for the journey) |

From what I have heard SALVIA may be the cure for crack. Hahahaha. You can still purchase it legally but that along with most other shamanistic drugs and vitamin supplements, you'll have to have a prescription soon. http://www.salviadragon.com/ |

I am on the same train as Brahmin_Acro here. Can't stand global media of any type, especially television, although it's around all the time. I'm waiting for a chance to be somewhere where I can have peace and quiet for great lengths of time. I'll be creating a greenhouse, and I will grow much food and psychedelic fineries.

I've indulged in Cannabis, Mushrooms, and Salvia. I've also smoked St. John's Wort.
Cannabis and Mushrooms have shown me visions over and over with the same message "God(ess) wants you to be happy" "Earth is a journey through space and time, enjoy the ride. Marvel at the stars, Revel in the sensation of the wind in your hair." I feel a block though that keeps me from bringing this back with me. I figure I should mention, my first time on mushrooms, I was listening to Alanis Morissette, (the song was "Can't not") watching my iTunes visualizer, and seeing in the patterns of color and shape, the entire history of Shamanism playing out on my screen. And the message - that the hallucinogens are a gift, and a way to reconnect. LSD was given to us to draw in modern Shamans, but Beware - it is a crutch. |
