    Practical techniques

I meet many spiritual people but I find myself often wondering if all their work is good for anything. They say a lot and appear to know many things but what has that knowledge/experience done for them other than being able to paint pretty ideas.

What practical or otherwise useful techniques or knowledge have you picked up making life easier for you.

No, I'm not writing a book

Its certainly entertaining, but I wouldn't say its good for nothing. It could have countless ways of making life easier and fruitful.

Take Buddhist enlightenment for example. All that work pays off with the turning of the seat of consciousness. This makes them much happier and happier attitudes generally create happier situations.

Have you thought about how it can contribute to the global consciousness and development of future generations with a more aware sense of the world?

This was a very deep question

    Dear E OK,

I took all day to ponder your question. I didn't want to write some fluffy stuff about love. I really wanted to give this one some serious thought. My grand father was a preacher, my father runs a home church, and I like to heal people. I come from a spiritual family and have knowledge and write pretty ideas all the time. In all honesty, I'd be lying if I told you that any of it made life easier for me. Once I really embraced all the spiritual stuff I felt compelled to make a difference in the life of others and it was no walk in the park. I got burned out. It was good for something. It was good for the people I helped.

Practically speaking, when you surrender to your purpose and love what service you give to god/ the universe, you feel complete and fulfilled.

One technique I use when I'm not sure what path to take is to ask for a sign. I write down in my journal a very specific sign I want from god to show me the way. This is between me and the almighty and it works every time. It gives me peace knowing that I'm on the right track.

I have lots of other stuff I do to make life easier for myself but, I hate longish posts. So I'll drop more in later.

    Great thread.

I bow humbly to your honesty. Thank you for taking the time to contemplate your answer.

Complete, fulfilled , and peace. That sounds like it helps even if maybe for those periods you feel that way.

I can relate with the ecstasy of surrendering to trust.

are you that usefull after all ? i'd say nobody is usefull for nothing at the basics, so is the spirituality

if you find what you are usefull for, you can find some usefullness in spirituality =)

I wanted to hear some ideas on how the work people have been doing on themselves have helped their life on earth. After all physical earth is what we have to deal with, the starting point or the center we find ourselves in from which we can look around.

I think when people say "your soul blah blah" it tends to confuse people and detach them from themselves which is here now. By earth I mean the here/now we find ourselves in. What helps you stay rooted and grounded in the here/now in that place where you can experience your "own" vitality and has spirituality done that for? If you have an understanding of that here/now then how do you maintain it and keep your mind from slipping off to eons away from the present?

Thank you for all your comments everyone. I have consumed them all

OK. At the risk of being laughed off the site entirely. This is embarrassing. Masturbation.
Seriously, I feel alive and connected to my body when I diddle myself. ( Holy crap, can I say that on a family site?) Sometimes I'm so heavenly minded I'm no earthly good. When I pay attention to my physical needs and desires I get focus. It keeps me in the now. It keeps me relaxed and happy.

like when i take lsd and keep thinking watching a glass for 2h what is the most important lol i guess grounded here/now maybe not be that important all the time, specially with our world which move very fast, with all traveling things and communication, what is more important when i post here may not be what surround me exactly etc

i guess nothing prevent my mind to slip off around jupiter or occasionally other galaxies or universe dimension whatever =)

but well just a matter of thing you are told you must do blah, after you make the sorting of what you will actually do or not lol

Years ago having sex I realized that while having sex so many of my concerns just melted away and I was focused on only this. Not really understanding the importance of being here/now i could never understand why when it was over I felt like crap again. It sort of became my drug not for the physical feeling but for the comfort it offered to my mind. Now that I find my mind quiet most of the time my sexual desires have slowed too. One part is that I lost my ability to convince myself that my imaginations are reality. As if my senses work individually now.

What I'm saying is I get it lol
    great response

I can respect the idea that not being present all the time is not so important. The here/now is always where it is so we can always return to it.

and even if you look closely at the present here and now, it always contain lots of thing that do not only belong to here and now, consequence from past, sign for the future, different states of things etc well the here and now in very ephemere and not self sufficient in some manner everything here , there, now and after is all part of the same thing , even what you have in your brain is also part of this, even if it is totally insane and not 'real', it is also part of the present, dunno for the here

but well after for the usefullness i guess it depend on person, something will be usefull if you have an use for it but i guess most of the time its most things that you can perceive or interpret from common reality that will give you more control or way of visualisasing/conceptualising things around that will help to handle different situation in your life, but i don't think there is a global usefullness inherent to anything spiritual or mental

I've found over the last 24 years or so since I got into my own mind & spiritual side, as briefly as possible and I'll probably add more later:

There is nothing to be afraid of, the more we encounter 'the unknown' the easier it is to deal with.

It's so so much better to take responsibility for your own actions & thoughts, rather than blame people, situations, etc for 'making' you feel/act the way you do. Nobody ever makes us feel or do anything unless we give them our permission to..

Being a victim is another way of looking at this, we have a choice, always.

If we can't change something or someone, we have to find a different way of looking at the situation, only you can change you.

The more we trust our insight & intuition, the stronger and more accurate it gets. It's all in the interpretation.

    Every living thing communicates!

Animals are way way more intelligent & helpful than most people think or know. We have so much to learn from them.

You can actually materialise what you want from pure intention. We are our own creators, we have what we asked for and we will continue to get what we ask for, what we fear, and what we need. What we think we need isn't necessarily that. Life will throw at us what we need to grow, we can deal with it - that's part of the lesson.

Following synchronicities & coincidences pays off. They're signposts for us!

You don't need a teacher, guru, master etc, the best teacher is YOU. Advice & opinions are good, teachers are great, but in the end it's you who does the work.

Fighting is usually pointless, fighting your demons, fighting your feelings, fighting your fears. We must learn to accept, and work with these things, they are part of us - if we fight them we're only fighting ourselves!

Be careful when you 'block' forces, you may end up blocking the good stuff as well as what you don't want! Specify!

That goes for cosmic ordering to - "be careful what you wish for". Be very specific in this - I asked the Universe for £2000 a few years ago to do a course.. I had a lotto win, a cheque, unexpected cash, and.... my car got written off in a bump! (I was fine and my car was old), I ended up somehow getting about £1000 more off the insurance than my car was worth, and I got it back on the road but I always watch the way I ask for stuff now!

Being spiritual is a way of life, it's a very rewarding way of life, it's like being a 3 year old in a massive park & having all the time in the world to explore it

Thank you for the responses. Some act as reminders and some are new points for me to examine.

As I mature and become more whole I realize more and more how our systems of reality work, and like how Onlooker explained fighting doesn't solve anything. So if fighting doesn't solve anything and the universal being is a mature fellow then compassion and respect are the rule.

The problem I see in the world, the only problem i see in the world are the immature. I have no solution for this and I wish I did. I wish somehow I could shine a light into their darkened minds helping to start this long path. Help bring the understanding that we are all in it together and that working against each other is not beneficial for any of us. With that in mind I pay my respects to the founder of religions , though I do not concern myself with them I appreciate that each group tries to produce good people.

I learned to be present for the sake of my heart. I learned to tend to my emotions and that neglecting them can cause difficulties. I learned to respect that others have hearts just like mine, and that while they require attention they are as strong as forged metal. I learned that a strong friend is a good friend and to therefor lift my friends so that i may be in good company.

    Thanks again.

    This is a brilliant thread!

The most effective thing I have found to experience my own vitality in the hear and now is dwelling and enjoying the natural world we live in. I take my shoes off and run around in barefeet, hug trees, smell flowers, laugh and play like a kid (eg playing imaginary games with my boyfriend)... it all sounds very simple, but who actually does it. If it's appropriate I will do reiki on myself or others, or sing worship songs to the Creator and creation.

For me spirituality has two parts - an infinite and amazing feeling of connection and a depth in understand life on earth in ways that normal people do not understand (eg understanding the psychology of the mind/body/spirit and how that effects our daily life or how much more amazing the world and ourselves really is, when you look a little deeper)

    GUS bless you
    (God, Universe, Source)
