In my opinion based on my experiences there are levels of thinking depending on the topic. Thinking how to earn a living and thinking about our relationships both require different dimensions of thought. (not to say no one know how to think but rather to help clarify my idea).
To me thinking is crucial to my growth as a, hmm... the thing i am. Through thinking I can view different dimensions available to me. Interactions with people offer me new material to play with, which is why i tend to ask lots of question and enjoy hearing the questions of others.
However... what is the Value of thinking as opposed to not thinking or thinking thoroughly. Could thinking deeply and thoroughly and clearly be considered a discipline? What are you thoughts on thinking?
Maybe someone might say not thinking isn't possible and in that case I would just show them to the nearest public gathering.![]()

Thinking which is of the physical mind is for functioning in this world. Many masters preached non-thinking, which to me does not mean to be stupid or what just be very aware and understand the nature of thinking?
Like all thinkings are beliefs, so our worldly personality/reality is formed by thinking/beliefs. Even the truth that is real and genuine are thought out or to be believed in. So in order to be ONE with the truth we can't think it but only through KNOWING and BEING it,which most likely can only occur if we get 'out of our mind' which i call it the silent mind. Only then we can think with the silent mind and not physical mind, which mean our consciousness and actions are all in SPIRIT. This is also why it start with TRUST and Faith that there is this silent mind so that we are even motivated to try to get to that level of consciousness. Some are born with this trusting while some need to suffer or encounter issues before they consider such possibility, so perhaps suffering isn't all that bad? In fact I feel Life in whatever we do, forming relationships, career etc is just lessons to find out the possibility of such silent mind.
When we show/perform act of kindness, it is not because we believe it is good to do them but because we're just being what we are-kindness/love. That is UNCONDITIONAL love- a love that is not conditioned or formed by beliefs.

the word 'thinking' is hard to define... we are multi faceted beings and I agree that we use different modes or channels (i see it like tuning a radio) to function in different situations. being an artistic / emotional based person my thoughts - even quite logical decisions are based in aesthetics, i've done meditations where my mind had calmed (or my thoughts stop racing) and colours and smells in nature etc become more beautiful... perhaps i can explain it better... like a colour filter on a camera? different conditions call for certain filters, but too many filters, or the wrong combination can cloud thoughts. thinking is most powerful when there is balance between the levels we operate on... refer to the chakra concept if you like. it's a discipline for sure. the hardest to master i *think*

Everything is ok (10-16-2009)
let me teach you the art of thinking :
. . .
A good point.
Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify you father which is in heaven."
We are an emotional people in a society based upon thought. In my path, I learned there is a place for thought, but I would never have discovered myself had I not took a step back from that and finally let my emotions shine through.
To be who I am, I must be the emotional being that I am. No philosophy or theology could teach me that (believe me i tried lol)
