    Has anybody experienced Kundalini Complications?

This ad goes away when you register.
I am not interested in what Kundalini is, I know what it is.
I am interested in anyone's stories on complications with Kundalini.

    THE SERPENT'S STRIKE
(haha I thought that was a cool name lol)

I have been studying Kundalini extensively for a very long time and I am very passionate about this subject. I am just interested in finding out whether anyone here has experienced this amazing energy in a "negative" way. Arisen complications if you may?

A forced awakening that one's mind and body is not prepared for is incredibly and majorly overwhelming, or even worse, a Kundalini eruption that is premature, ouch,

The danger in raising this energy in the first place is one thing for sure.

Your nervous system can become overloaded that you will feel like you are walking on the edge of a building, slipping in and out of sanity, for days, weeks, and even up to years. Breaks from reality and madness have occurred.

Forcing an awakening with even an experienced guru is not guaranteed you success of a trouble-free awakening.

This beautiful energy deserves respect and honour, it is as simple and complicated as that.

She is my beloved powerful, mysterious Shakti, the Great Mother Goddess.

I guess one negative aspect for me is the depression and irritation with other people I have after deep meditation that has Kundalini energy involved.

Not all the time. Usually I feel great and peaceful after I meditate. Sometimes I come out of it and the bliss is gone and real life hits me and I feel a homesickness of sorts. I also feel short tempered with others. I want to say " You whiny, materialistic egocentric butt heads just don't get it! You wont even try to add some peace to your lives!!"

The only other negative Kundalini syndrome would be when I'm driving and I get overwhelmed with a blissed out all spiritual feeling. I'm scared I might wreck the car!
You get what you think about whether you want it or not.

My left foot and some of leg went numb, i t was just limp and led to me twisting and stearing some stuff in there. People thought it was broken. I got the feeling back recently. I also had some convulsions for a while when I would try and fall asleep, or more like my body would contract and release very quickly. It was weird. Sleep cycles were in a mess. I also had this crawling sensation all over my scalp a couple of nights, and some nights it I could feel the hair pushing out.

The last chapter of stalking the wild pendulum by Itzhak Bentov talks about modern day spontaneous Kundalini. The lady he talks about had some serious problems with it.

When I become aroused a blast shoots up from my spine and it takes the form of what seems like a Cobra with its things expanded around my head. I can guide the energy some times but if its to much it causes a headache when its over that makes me wish I was dead. It sends wave after wave from the back of my neck to the front of my head. I'm probably having problems relaxing in my neck area.

I don't know if this is a Kundalini thing but something Indigo Dog mentioned a few days ago got me questioning it.

If you happen to know something more about it let me know. I'd be interested in listening.

From THIS web site I gathered this info. If you don't mind I'd like to add more to this list. Kundalini is a fascinating topic.

    another good list HERE

    # Muscle twitches, cramps or spasms.
    # Energy rushes or immense electricity circulating the body
    # Itching, vibrating, prickling, tingling, stinging or crawling sensations
    # Intense heat or cold
    # Involuntary bodily movements (occur more often during meditation, rest or sleep): jerking, tremors, shaking; feeling an inner force pushing one into postures or moving one's body in unusual ways. (May be misdiagnosed as epilepsy, restless legs syndrome (RLS), or PLMD.)
    # Alterations in eating and sleeping patterns
    # Episodes of extreme hyperactivity or, conversely, overwhelming fatigue (some CFS victims are experiencing Kundalini awakening)
    # Intensified or diminished sexual desires
    # Headaches, pressures within the skull
    # Racing heartbeat, pains in the chest
    # Digestive system problems
    # Numbness or pain in the limbs (particularly the left foot and leg)
    # Pains and blockages anywhere; often in the back and neck (Many cases of FMS are Kundalini-related.)
    # Emotional outbursts; rapid mood shifts; seemingly unprovoked or excessive episodes of grief, fear, rage, depression
    # Spontaneous vocalizations (including laughing and weeping) -- are as unintentional and uncontrollable as hiccoughs
    # Hearing an inner sound or sounds, classically described as a flute, drum, waterfall, birds singing, bees buzzing but which may also sound like roaring, whooshing, or thunderous noises or like ringing in the ears.
    # Mental confusion; difficulty concentrating

perhaps the "worst" is loss of equiblibrium.. and the resulting cycles trying to find the world, as one knew it only a moment before..

but the "world" has disappeared.. or is entirely different..

Energy rushes or immense electricity circulating the body
how about.. an experience of light which almost destroys "self".. but is not an exactly unpleasant experience..

psychologists would call this a "classical" disasociation.

only thing I can say.. it's a heck of a ride..

My first attemp left me with a bad back for a awhile, later on it got better and better, I enjoyed more and more...I seem to have limits though, probably because I don't know that much about it. Like today, All day it has felt like warm water is flowing through my spine in a very fast pace, I don't know what this is, and I have no one to ask, when I meditate, my body starts to vibrate, one time about a month ago It felt as if my whole body got hit by lightning, and I convulsed for a second. The bad thing is Im not even trying to do this stuff, I have just been trying to control my chankras with little success) because they keep opening and closing on their own. I have read about the Kundalini, but have never got it to work right. So any suggestins would be greatly apprieciated.

    It varies.
It simply shoots up my back randomly as I fall asleep. It usually startles me, but I don't try to stop it. Sometimes it brings complete understanding to me in a detached kind of way. I lose emotional connection a lot, yet I'm aware of the emotions...just not experiencing them. Othertimes I feel deeply depressed, frightenly so. Usually I maintain some sort of balance though...otherwise I probably wouldn't be here. I'd be getting ativan and haldol shots at the booby-hatch.

ativan and haldol are drugs administered to non-compliant or psychotic patients at the booby-hatch aka mental institution.

I think I know exactly what you mean. How did yours come about?
One evening, I got quiet.. I don't know how, but for about five seconds, I think I looked into the core personality of an individual.

    I was invited.

I believe the connection went both ways. But I wasn't the one to end up on anti-depressants.

I was grounded well enough in math and logic that I was able to ride it out. I asked all kinds of people about it, trying to figure out what happened.. a real nice lady in kaballah.. she said, "don't look into the light. we teach our people not to do that.. you'll get burned.." too late, kinda..

then there was a nice psychologist.. but I didn't give her the REAL reason for the visit until about the fourth session. I figured.. some guy coming in off of the street babbling about seeing some kind of "light".. well, you know..

She asked a couple of questions.. like do I at this stage in life feel an intense desire to do something.. like what I felt I should have done twenty or more years ago.. the answer is yes. I'm back to school, finishing a degree in math and chemistry, and hope to eventually teach, or tutor in a big way. So it could be some kind of "psychic" or spiritual renewal of sorts in mid-life.. if anything I think it's made me a better person. I think the experience forced me to re-evaluate everything.. the whole world looked entirely different.

Before this, I had been a staunch, conservative, religious, intolerant zealot.. with all the "answers".. maybe I just woke up.. who knows..

I don't believe I forced my awakening... as the change has been welcomed and I feel more at home within myself and more centered then ever in my being.

I have less patience for self centeredness (and i had very little) to begin with and more irritation with others who are self absorbed

However I have been having a lot of things that have been piling up, I don't know if that is to break through another awakening, or if it is a kickback...
