the big news here is that after the bankrupcy of palco, a huge obnoxious company that has been terrorizing the old growth here in northern california, the tree sitters have won a major victory.
i think everyone is in shock that it could actually happen like this. a new company has bought the land once managed by palco, and has been having meetings and talks with treesitters. promising no old growth logging, and sustainable logging practices the head of the newly formed hrc (humboldt redwood company, came out to the actual tree sits and had a long chat with many of the sitters and forest defenders.

We should all email that logging company and let them know we are aware of their positive intentions, and that we applaud them. If it's true, they should get some positive feedback, neh?
yeah the guys name is in article.
there was a party last weekend of tree sitters, and he actually went and celebrated with them. apparently he was walking around trying to get more feedback from the treesitters. pretty amazing.
you should totally write him.
believe me tho he has already gotten enormous amount of local people to be thankful. theres a super positive feeling about this, even from those who would never tree sit....
lets plant some this year ... lol ...
yay trees, when I was a kid we would plant 1000's of trees reclaiming the damage done by clearing them on our farm - the water table rose and salt lakes developed.

I am all for old growth but I think that some of that energy that is used to stop logging should be channeled into getting hemp legalized so that we can have an alternative to wood. Northern California is one of the biggest producers of marijuana in the country if not the world. Obviously they aren't stopping marijuana so why continue to punish the environment by keeping the hemp plant illegal? It's a conspiracy.
interesting you write that.
ok so hemp is a different plant different kind, strain.......but sensimillia, or marijuana can also be used to produce fiber and paper. the leftovers from the production of medicine, marijuana can also make paper
theres a huge issues here with the mills, they are all closing down because they dont have enough wood chips, and it is major source of income and jobs here. i have been way over my head, intimadated, but still trying o bring up options and possibilities in peoples minds about turning the existing paper mill into a hemp paper mill, or recycled paper mill, and then get the leftover by product of mj production...the stalks the big leaves.
all that is usuable fiber, and it mostly get burned....or compasted. but theres a lot of little probelms with my idea, like the paper would still have thc content...and is technically illegal.
the guy i most hoped would help me with the writing and the plan, expressing it maybe to people at city council, to make our own sensimillia paper made with donations of leftover, turns out to come back and tell me the best thing to make paper with is ecalyptus trees!
frell. well so talking with people and seeing if i can help somehow here with this.
trying to write something convincing and also try to set up recycled paper operation? gathering spot for old fiber, or hemp ....which would actually be leftover by product from medicine production....and or actual hemp.
---------- Post added at 09:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 AM ----------
also rags, and most importantly, agricultural by product....the leftover stalks of food and medicine producing plants can be made into paper.
the most expensive thing about this plan? shipping, in trucks.
frell...i am at least trying ....to explore this with engineer /planner/ city council sorts of folks.
