Every week I've come to these forums, I've seen an almost identical post. And yeah, there are ways and techniques to cope with it. But regardless of whatever I say here, it will take a bit of time, as the whole thing is a learning process which seems to work itself out in the end.
It's vital if you feel that you have empathy to have some basic elements of psi down.
Get familiar with basic meditation, grounding, centering, shielding, and golden suns, as they are all fantastic techniques to use to combat this. Every day for 5-10 mins even if your in the shower you should make sure your grounded out and create a nice golden sun to fill you up for the day. I've also found that Protection Roses can do wonders for getting rid of unwated empathic emotions.
Some of that may sound confusing or strange, but do some google searching or something on those subjects to get acquainted (we also have some stuff here if you search), to lazy to link, and within a month and a bit of practice I bet you could get it undercontrol more.
But yeah, the one emotion that I always think about is how overwhelming it can be. There is sooo much hate, sadness, and fear flying around that it's disturbing to me, but there is also the happy things. And I have come close to tears when focusing, meditating, on the lighter side of things.
