The wonderful innocence of children

You know how sometimes something just comes out of your mouth before you realize what you are saying?
And as soon as the words leave your lips you know you want to grab them and stuff them back into your mouth before they reach the ears that they are rushing to fill.
Once in a while, those words may elicit a response that will blow you away!

Today I have 5 children here, the little girl that I care for each day and 4 of my grandchildren who do not have school today.

There was so much noise and running around and throwing things and I had about 3 hours of sleep and was having a very hard time coping with all this.

I told them several times to quiet down and get along and etc....etc.....I was trying to make breakfast for them and handle each request and I just got overwhelmed and screamed into the living room,

"Stop right now or I'm going to come in there and beat you".

I immediately felt terrible that I would even entertain the thought and turned around with horror in my heart. I felt my grandaughter's hand on my back and turned around to see her beautiful sweet face as she asked,

"Beat us at what Grandma?"

The other kids echoed her question, " Yeah Grandma, what are you going to beat us at?"

I just fell to my knees and cried, literally.
I know the kids thought I was loosing my mind ....(again)...lol.
I was just so incredibly moved that they couldn't even imagine that I meant anything but beating them at a game.

I am still, now hours later in awe of this experience.
Had to share it with you.

OMG lol that so sweet. for two reasons. you cried over that and those kids, AHAH my god what pure minds. moments like that are quite worth it . Lol I am quite the opposite. also so are my bros. Lol they beat eachother up. Well then again there getting a bit older now. still at a young age they would curse me out and stuff.

I wish I was innocent like that . I would be so swwheeeettt sadly enough those nuns at catholic school quickly made sure my laughter was quieted.

Well the older ones know what a beating is, they just never believed for a sec that one would come from me. That is what floored me.

awww this is so sweet. i truly do admire the innocentness of children. i also love how honest they are, even if the truth hurts. they see nothing wrong with it. it always gives me a good laugh

How gorgeous! With the things kids sometimes say, you wonder what goes on in their minds...they are so pure and they can blow you away, or have you in hysterics, with the smallest comment...I was recently sitting in my bedroom discussing babies with my 5yo son and I said to him "Of course you came out of my tummy, I'm your mum, where do you think you came from?" Without missing a beat he replied "The loungeroom." Gotta give him points for that one!!
