The document is nearing completion, about halfway through now, I think. I need more information on two or three sections, concerning ethics, common traits, and further/extended reading/research.
And the last thread resulted in success. I have figured out where phenomenal empathy differs from the cognitive, and additionally, have termed it "harmonic empathy". The following is the document definition, and explanation of harmonic empathy:
The distinction between cognitive empathy and harmonic empathy is a simple one. Cognitive empathy is understood on an instinctual level, while harmonic empathy is felt. This is similar to emotional contagion. Emotional contagion is most easily explained by example, in that: He's scared, so now I'm scared. The distinction between harmonic empathy and emotional contagion is the phenomenal aspect. In emotional contagion, another persons emotional state must first be recognized, we must understand another person is scared before we become susceptible to fear ourselves.
Harmonic empathy is not brought on by understanding, an empath can be suddenly gripped by an irrational fear, anger, irritability, without originally feeling this way themselves. Seperate from what might be classified as a panic attack, the empath is experiencing the feelings of another person. The empathic experience is not exclusive to negative feelings, an empath is equally likely to suddenly feel pleased, at peace, tranquil, or hyper, depending on their company.
[Presupposition]So how does harmonic empathy work? Well, as with most psychic phenomena, noones really quite sure. However, this document will work off the assumption that harmonic empathy works in conjunction with a persons "aura", as defined by this document.
An "aura" is the external layer of energy surrounding the body. It is not holographic in nature, but may be perceived holographically, either through spectrographs or by eyesight. It is composed of many energetic layers, contributed by different processes in the body, including but not limited to, a persons emotions, state of mind, spiritual state, health of the internal organs, the nervous system, bio electric field, and natural magnetic field. In short, if it has to do with you or your body, it contributes to your aura. Even composed of all the layers, the aura acts as a single entity, similar to how a persons skin is composed of many different nerves, glands, and layers, it is regarded as a single organism.
It is unknown which, or how many, of these layers are used to communicate emotions among auras utilizing harmonic empathy.
Many of the different techniques in this document, explaining how to manage, deal with, and control harmonic empathy is given in conjunction with advice on how to control ones aura. Hence this presumption is necessary.
How does harmonic empathy work? As the name implies, it is based on resonance. The easiest metaphor is tuning forks. When two tuning forks of the same pitch are brought in proximity of each other, only one needs to be struck for both to resound the same note. This would be most similar to emotional contagion. However, when tuning forks of varying pitch are brought in proximity, and one is struck, the other will answer with its own different note. Both forks sound the same note at different pitches, hence the experience is not one of exact replication, but harmonic resonance.
When an empath's aura comes into contact with another persons, whatever "note" that persons aura is broadcasting will be picked up by the empath, and harmoized with. Hence the empath will then begin feeling as the subject does, simply by being in proximity to them.
I've observed some commonality between empaths, as character goes, but I have some lingering questions myself, wondering if others have similar experiences as myself, involving harmonic empathy. The fault here, is that many of the character traits describe the character traits of indigos as well. I have yet to determine if there is any relational value between empaths and indigos.
Here are the questions for this round:
Do you feel your emotions, and emotional reactions, are significantly stronger than other peoples? (Do you feel you love deeper than others, your anger is more potent than most peoples, etc?)
When empathising, are the emotions felt as strong as your own? Do they seem muted or different in any way?
For those that do, when pushing your feelings onto or into another, or broadcasting in general, is the result as potent as the originating feeling?

That's it for this series, I'm trying to identify if harmonic empathy follows the universal law of energy input<energetic outpit. As well, I'm curious if the hyper emotional state is the differential mark, or identifier between a harmonic empath, and an unaware cognitive empath.
Presumptively, thank you to all respondents.
