Rock / Mineral uses and correspondences

I was thinking we need a thread on correspondences / meanings / metaphysical uses of stones.

This ad goes away when you register.

I was trying to find out what Sulfur (Brimstone) means / is used for metaphysically, and my web searches have turned up little.

Crystals, rocks!!!!!! ^____^ I've always been a rockhound and recently I just seriously started getting back into buying them. When I was little and lived in Germany my school would go on fieldtrips to a nearby rock mine, I'd buy as many polished rocks as I could! My favorites included a small, tear shaped stone with bands of red jasper and hematite, also had some rocks like extruded triangles, I think one was a bit of amergreen. I can't wait until I get that rock collection back in July!

Well, here's a bit of info I found on Sulphur, don't know how much more you want to know about (perhaps you should go the the library or bookstore and find a book there?).

    SULFUR
    Metaphysical Properties
    - Sulfur assists in the removal of negative thoughts and emotions that may possibly manifest into physical disease. It has long been used by the South American Indians in healing ceremonies, possibly to bring in the energies of the four directions. Sulfur is a wonderful mineral to aid assimilation and digestion. Sulfur is a good stone to take with you when traveling, eating unfamiliar food can play havoc on the system! Some say that Sulfur aids weight loss by allowing the food to digest and assimilate properly. It is also used to detoxify the body of accumulated toxins and environmental pollutants. Some like to use it as a fumigant to discourage infestations of insects.

Numerology- Vibrates to the number 7. Wisdom and faith.

Gemological Properties- Sulfur is a mineral species in the Orthorhombic crystal system, the chemical composition is pure Sulfur, sometimes contains Selenium and Tellurium. The refractive index is around 1.95 and the specific gravity is 2.07. Sulfur is a very soft mineral, only a 1-2 on the hardness scale. Sulfur is usually seen as vivid yellow crystals on matrix. The main localities for this mineral are Mexico, California, USA, and Italy.

And here are some other websites with bits of info on other crystals.

    Pearl
Usually pale white or cream-colored, though darker blue, gray, and even black variations exist. In tune with women, especially pregnant women. Absorbing by nature and because of this must be used with caution. If you feel excessively negative while wearing a Pearl, it will hold that energy until it is worn again. Remember, Pearl is the result of layer upon layer of substance produced to combat irritation. It is very nurturing. If used properly, lessen stress and its resulting maladies: hypertension, headaches, and exhaustion. May help to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Also an assist in digestion and may reduce the chance of developing ulcers. If using Pearls in conjunction with other gemstones, consider Diamonds to amplify and purify, or Emeralds to bring negative energy out and disperse it. Recommended for occupations as varied as artists, chiropractors, and farmers. White: Symbol of pure heart and mind; innocence, faith. Of the sea, it has watery and lunar elements, thus balancing emotions, especially for water signs. Absorbs thoughts, emotions. For Solar plexus Chakra (digestion, stomach, immunity) and emotional stress. Low integrity or anger rebounds to user (like Opal). Cleanse frequently. Fire signs less compatible unless drawn to Pearl. May cool and soothe. Gold and Black: Also for prosperity. Pink: Works especially with the Heart Chakra. Pearls best without other gems. Divers wear for shark protection.

Heheh. I positively adore mookaite right now, I can't seem to get enough of it! XD I have two tumble stones of it and 3 beads, I also just bought 2 little spheres of it and bag of 7 tumble stones...I want more I tell you, more!

Mookaite Jasper is an Australian jasper containing shades of pink, red and yellow. It is a nurturing stone that supports and sustains during times of stress bringing peace and a feeling of wholeness.

Mookaite Jasper encourages versatility and helps you to accept change. It helps you to discover all possibilities in a situation and to choose the right one.

Mookaite also grounds and stabilises the whole body and provides a protective energy that helps to block unwanted outside influences.
    It's also colorful http://www.outbackmining.com/MK111.jpg

I just recently had a dream about a crystal, it was on a necklace amonst a bunch of other charms and crystals and things on necklaces, someone told me to choose one of them and that it would be of special use for me or somthing like that.
one seemed to call out to me, It was really gorgous it was sort of clear and iridesent and spiraled like a unicorns horn, only still faceted like a crystal, I think I have figured out what it is or at least what it looked like, but I haven't yet found the one I am suppose to have.
at any rate I bought a book called the Crystal Bible, because I wanted something with good pictures that I could refer to when looking for or identifing crystals and stones.
Anyway here is a link to the crystals that somewhat resemble what I am looking for:
    http://www.arcrystalmine.com/ti/ti.html
in fact T108 could almost fit the bill only its sold and not quite the right shape, cause the one in my dream wasn't really a cluster it was more like a single crystal.

The book I bought has a list of different crystal shapes and formations in the back and one on the list is spiral, however only an illustration is shown, I have been searching the internet just to see if I could find any kind of crystal in the spiral form, but I have yet to find a good photograph of one anywere? So if any of you come across a photograph of a crystal in spiral form I would love to see it.
there is a spirit fayre coming up in the area on the 11-12 though and they always have a great selection of rocks so maybe I will find it there...

Shadowsong: Y'know, I checked out a book from the library that says, "If you see this crystal in your dream, it means this..." I read that and thought, "Well, how in the hell am I supposed to tell what type of crystal I dream of? A lot of them look alike and chances are I won't be able to ask it, 'Hey, what type of stone are you?' so, bleh!" Your dream proves what I was thinking! Man, it must be annoying. :\

Okay, back to the issue at hand. I believe that spiral quartz is supposed to be really rare and hard to get a hold of...maybe it could have been a curved/bent quartz point that had treated to be an angel aura quartz? I also couldn't help but think of a selenite wand from you descriptions...I see a lot of them that have been shaped into a spiral, no facets though.

Ravenakentuckypagan: Petrified wood, fossils and oooooh! Lava! Oh man, now I really miss my rock collection (the vast majority of which is with my parents in Texas while I'm in Pennsylvania). I have a nice bit of Petrified wood that I found somewhere outside of Ft. Hancock, TX. I also have this oddly egg shaped stone that I found in Norway, it's a bit smaller than an ostrich egg. And fossils, I've found those too! Years ago my family went to Rockhound Park in New Mexico, we left with well more than we should have, all because of me. XD We found this beautiful, large piece of jasper (or maybe agate? Can't recall, haven't seen it in awhile ^^ towards the end of the day. It was pretty and colorful and sparkly! My dad managed to knock off some of the excess rock from the back so we took it along with all the bits I had picked out. ^___^

I found fossilised invertebrate creatures inbedded into chalk rocks around margate and brighton a few times when I have gone there, and I have them here, small ones like ancient woodlice you know what I mean? I used to have a name for it begins with E

I have a bag of 10 pieces of petrified wood, but I bought it... so I am a cheat hehe...

I also find large smooth stone rocks in my area too...

I find lots of hagstones up here as well, theres so many, whats weird is they are mostly on my brothers driveway, he has a pebble driveway outside his house and in the centre theres like a hole which collects water and around this hole theres so many stones and pebbles with holes right through them...

I had to read your description of hagstones more than once to realize you were talking about holey stones, they're supposed to be very protective stones. The way they work makes me think an awful lot of dream catchers...

Oh, and does anyone know anything about Indigo Child Quartz? I got a piece of it as a freebie with a larger order, no info was included other than the name and that it comes from Madagascar. Here are some pics of it.

Pictures would be great! I've been meaning to get pictures of my rock collection...only it seems to grow just about every week! XD Hopefully tonight I'll be able to clear enough space to get pics of them all at once.

Oh, and here's another question...in the books I've been reading about crystals it says that stones need to be cleansed regularly...but how often is regularly? Are we talking once every week or two, every couple of days or what? Anyone know?

Rose quartz? Pfah, it's not rose quartz, it's not pink! I guess that the pictures must show up pink on everyone else's screen. Hmm. The point has a bit of a gray tinge to it with some spots that are purple-ish. The dark specks dotting all over the point makes me think of Harlequin quartz, but I'm sure it's not. I think the gold bit in the center might be rutile, can't tell for certain though. *shrugs*

Watch it end up being some type of special rose quartz that I've never heard about.

Hehe, last night I made it a point to take pictures of my rock collection so far. Here are some of the pictures I took!

Here are some more up close shots...

And just for comparison, here's my Indigo Child Quartz alongside a piece of Rose Quartz.
