Dr. Michael Mithoefer is at the forefront of a controversial field of study. He is leading a pilot study into using MDMA -- the pure form of the illegal drug ecstasy -- to treat depression and post traumatic stress disorder.

In a Thursday segment, CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta reported on Gail Westerfield, a Georgia woman who took part in Dr. Mithoefer's trial, ingesting MDMA as a treatment for her PTSD stemming from a childhood assault and being raped in college.

"Some doctors say it's the well known effects of ecstasy: Open alertness, euphoria, calmness, that could prove useful when it comes to therapy," said Gupta.

"It can remove some of the obstacles in therapy and act as a catalyst to the therapeutic process," said Dr. Mithoefer to Nature News.

Among the 21 patients in the study, those who received MDMA saw their mental well being improve more significantly than those on a placebo. No major side effects were recorded in the study.

"Did it work?" asked Gupta of Westerfield.

"Oh, absolutely," she said. "I had recurrent dreams since I was a little kid. It's like, I would be walking through a house and all the lights would turn out, and then this force would overwhelm me. After the MDMA, I fought it once and it never happened again."

In the four years since her last MDMA session, Westerfield has not experienced another nightmare, reported Gupta.
Stop looking and you will find.

Strange, they use beta blockers for this too, but they're legal and safer.

They've talked about administering these to soldiers so they don't care as much about what they have to do, as well as for the ptsd afterwards.

i think MDMA can be efficient against lots of mental diease, but well it is not suitable for long time treatement, because it really have bad impact on nervous system, and has lots of 'side effects'

but in a shamanic session view, to help curing all the range of disease that into ppl get into themself, like all Post Traumatic things, or even maybe some forms of autism etc, it is really efficient for boosting your communications abilities and removing fear, and just communicating with ppl , anybody, become very natural and very easy, even shy ppl are ok with extasy, it remove all the fear from you, and give lots of good feeling toward ppl and it really incite you to communicate and open yourself to other =)

beta blocker seem to block or decreasse response to stress, from wikipedia

Beta blockers block the action of endogenous catecholamines (epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline) in particular), on β-adrenergic receptors, part of the sympathetic nervous system which mediates the fight or flight response.

look like it inhibit stress receptor or something like that, mdma probably have similar action, but MDMA is know also to boost empathy, and i think it 'would' work more like has boosting all your empathy feelings, it remove the stress of handling a communication or to open yourself because you can really feel the other person better, and, as it is an amphetamine, your physical endurance and strength is also affected which renforce the security feeling =) but i dunno i say this like that

    pure mdma, yyuummmyyyyy

all drugs lead you to yourself essentially.
and to the other spirits that reside in the higher dimensions.
The healing of humanity starts from within so begin by Loving yourself, Unconditionally. This Love with soon be reflected in everything you see, feel and experience.

    Drugs will never cure depression,

    it´s a hoax,

depression is a brain chemical imbalance,

caused by poor nutrition dn lack of exercise,

the slow accumulation of preservatives in the foods you eat alone will cause some type of chemical imbalance,

add to that sugar, coffee, and other stimulants and very soon the brain vitality is depleted.

if you have ptsd i wouldn't go for ecstasy in an uncontolled environment
    can lead to more ptsd
medication for ptsd generally has to be done soon after

MDMA is not the kind of drug 'at risk' for mental issue, i saw really thousand and thousand user on my life never seen or heard anything linked with a 'bad trip' or something with MDMA or extasy =) it an amphetamine and they have kinda low direct impact on perceptions etc =) MDMA must be one of the most 'psychelic' one, and it is still not very dangerous in term of mental issue =) there are some physical risc , linked with desydhration or heart issue, but it is low risk =) it still have some known impact on nervous terminaison and kill neurons =) but well as with all other neuro-stimulant their is a dopamine/sterotonie level unbalance after the take that can remain some day and lead to 'depressive-like' state =) but i don't think drug use on a regular basis in order to 'cure' something is good in anyway =)

i can more see the use of drugs in a shamanic session view, to unlock or cure thing in the mind, for putting the person in a certain state during a relativly short period of time, and with somekind of guideness , but in a regular use like anti depressant cure or things like that, i think it always a bad thing , and not sure it really helps in the long run =)
