oooooh thanks for link...ive been looking for something to fill me up and stop me wasting away when i start my raw food diet![]()
I hope others have knowledge on this, as I'm going to give the non-dairy lifestyle a try, delete out caffeine and all the other recommendations someone posted about ADD & anxiety/depression help.
So I am looking into something healthy for breakfast that I can make the girls and thought why not these shakes.
Any thoughts? I found one site that sounds good, but I prefer word of mouth.

Uhhh guys.
First of all, whey IS dairy.
Second of all, it's NOT raw.
And third, it's not too good for you. Whey protein is a protein isolate(usually from what I know), meaning the amino acids are free form amino acids. Free form amino acids are absorbed very fast by the body and this can cause damage if they don't immediately go to building muscle. I don't recommend using whey protein at all but if one is going to use it they should only use it right after a workout for recovery, NOT (I repeat NOOOOT) as a dietary protein source.
If you want a healthy, delicious, RAW, green and balanced protein source, check out hemp protein.

Starseed has a point....
Whey is definitely not for those who have problems with dairy...whey is a product of cheese making (hence the nursery rhyme "little miss mufett sat on her tuffett, eating her curds and whey....")
If a person CAN tolerate whey, then the shakes can be used - AS A SUPPLEMENT - not as a meal replacement.
"Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to "die before you die" — and find that there is no death."
Immediately after a hard workout where you used a LOT of muscle, whey would be okay.
Seriously, hemp protein. Not only does it have good vegan protein but it's raw and it has omega 3's and fiber! It's a superfood. Bless the goddess hemp plant!![]()

oooh thanks. Was gonna do a load of research first anyway cuz im not starting raw food just yet. Really do need a way to not loose weight from it though cuz i've always been skinny and find it hard to keep it on without constantly eating junk food. Also just to feel full cuz i can stand being hungry.

I'm doing a mostly raw diet now except I say forget full raw, it isn't the best way for everyone.
So what I'm doing is drinking lots of yummy raw smoothies and eating raw fruit as snacks all during the day and then for big meals I eat lots of yummy high calorie building foods such as meat or fish, or a hearty bean soup, a or a big stir fry with brown rice
The way I feel is that 100% raw food has never worked for me. I have an extremely high metabolism and need a lot of big meals to keep any weight on me. Small raw meals throughout the day seem to speed my metabolism up even MORE, which is not what I need but it would be excellent for those trying to lose weight.
I feel like if over the course of my week I am eating about 70% raw, alkalinizing foods, then I don't stress on cooked comfort meals that I eat, such as pasta or quesadillas.
You gotta live! And I LOVE food, the thought of never eating cooked food again is ridiculous to me. I just want to live and enjoy my life, food included. It's all about balance.![]()

Yeah thats what i've been thinking. If i were to do total raw food, it wouldnt be permanent. Maybe as a detox for a while. I love my food too much too. Especially cheese. I could never give that up ever! Not gonna start yet anyway cuz i wanna stay at a stable weight for a bit to give me more of an idea of how much i need to eat generally.
ps- you're freaking me out with the parallel thoughts now lol!!![]()

Thank you!!! See, I had NO idea. Will look for that. My two oldest kids are the pickiest eaters, well, I take that back. My oldest is the pickiest and the other is actually impressing me with her open mind. So I know breakfast is the most important meal and we have the least amount of time, just thought a yummy protein shake to include real fruit would be helpful. Plus, I can add their supplements.

I love to cook and I definitely would not go for an all raw diet. May be in time, just not now.
Here is one of my favorite smoothies:
1 handful of raw spinach greens. Put these in the blender, add a lil water (like so the water line covers about half the level of the greens) and blend til its like bright green water (if you blend it with everything all together the greens tend to not blend down and you end up with leaf chunks)
Next:
3-4 medium sized strawberries
a small amount (maybe 1/4 cup) of rasberries
I small kiwi, chopped
The juice from half a small lemon
A quarter cup or so(just a little bit)of pure orange juice.
1/2 a small green apple, chopped up.
a pinch of pure ground ginger
A couple heaping spoonfuls of pure raw hemp protein
a teaspoon of spirulina
Now blend the whole thing up til it's super smooth. Add more water to make it a bit more like juice or you can keep it more like a smoothie.
Tastes AWESOME!

I have this problem, too. I have to eat to keep weight on. I used to think that would be a wonderful problem, but it isn't; pro's and con's to each side of the coin. IF I don't work out and get enough calories and fat, I look pretty yuky at 34. I had people say, "Wow, how did you get so little, you look great." Well, anyone can look great with clothes on! So I started exercising "some" and had to increase my fat/calories.
How would someone get enough fat unless they eat foods that are processed and dairy or meat? I'm so naive in the food department.
Same exact thing for me. Yeah I get "little" if I don't work out but I don't consider a scrawny build with stick arms and legs and the meat I do have on me hanging and cellulite flab to be sexy.
I basically have to work out constantly to get a good shape and have any muscle tone. And that takes a lot of eating to keep it up.

Found a link here with quite a bit of info on it. There's a "quantities needed" link on there somewhere as well.

Protien shakes make me fart. A lot. You could try useing soy instead of a dairy based drink. I like to add raw chashews to the blender too.
You get what you think about whether you want it or not.
