Ugh, focusing is my downfall too!
I need to focus on one thing so that my entire life aligns around it. I wrote these questions in my blog, and I figured it would be beneficial to post them here.
It is important that I write everyday throughout the day in order for me to achieve my goal of winning the grammy for best new artist.
I am trying to organize my life in a way that I have the minimum that is absolutely necessary to do this.
What is the minimum I would need just so I can sustain myself to write all day?
I have this list here so far:
1. Stay alive, clean, and decently healthy.
2. Have a place to stay. Computer and internet connection. Decent car. Cell phone.
4. Have enough money to pay for all this.
I really want to follow a schedule, but I'm not sure how to start.
DISTRACTIONS
-I am currently not making enough money to pay for all this. Need to find more income.
-I have to deal with lots of stuff that are really time consuming. Today, I have to go downtown, and see if I can reset the court date for this ticket I got. I also have to update my mailing address. I also have to get this car registered and cleaned out. I got into my car, and found out it got a flat. So I have to fix that.
I really want to keep my mind on this and foucs really hard positively so that I don't allow negative things to affect me. What is the best way to do that? How can I get myself to be 1000% focused and determined?
Ugh, focusing is my downfall too!

Here is sort of a summary of my status.
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. A lady is renting this unit out to my roommate and I. My major recurring expenses are rent, light, internet, and phone. All of this comes up to about $580. Some of my pressing matters include
-dealing with a court date I missed for an accident ticket that I got
-registering this car that I bought
-having it thoroughly cleaned out because it is completely filthy inside
-cancel my PO Box, and forward my mail to this address
-sell my broken car
-consolidate my FOREX account
-updating my toll pass
-secure part-time income until I get my part-time financial processing business set up

Dear Skill,
You sound like a very focused and determined person already. I guess If I had to offer any advice it would be, stay in the moment. I mean, it is easy to think "oh my car got got a flat now I'm angry and pissed." Try detaching from the situation and learning to have a open feeling surrounding what is happening at any given moment.
Its natural to have that negative reaction at first but don't stay married to it. Look again at the situation and face it with a different attitude. Maybe the delay in fixing the tire somehow saved your life on the freeway, or maybe the tire salesman knows a great publisher and will give you his business card.
When I notice that things aren't going my way I do resist for a bit. Then I start to pay attention (who needs my healing touch, maybe there is an opportunity I would have missed here?) Often where there is seeming resistance in my plans it works out that God had a much better plan in place and I couldn't see it at first.
If you wish to materialize your goals faster create a vision board. I'll find the link for you.
You get what you think about whether you want it or not.

Thanks! I really want to own the identity of unlimited abundance. I will be a great leader in life. I know it. I am it. I want to be doing so much for my planet that I won't have the time to feel suffering. If something happens, there is a reason, and I simply must deal with it.
I had to change the tire to get the spare on, and take my car to the tire place to get it patched up. I have to accept the fact that I got this ticket, missed my court date, and will have to deal with it tomorrow. I just want to deal with it, get over with it, move on, and remove myself from feelings of suffering.
Sometimes I just try to figure out what it all means. For example. Between work, my car accident, and this ticket. I probably ended up losing about $2100 that took me a very long time to save up. I had another $400 stolen from me in a rent scam a few months ago. And these are just the most recent phenomena.
This has been a recurring theme in my life. Everytime I spend many long hours working and saving, my money is somehow taken away from me or I get robbed. I get upset about working hard for so very little only to lose it anyway.
That is why I am really intent on getting rid of negative thoughts. Many people believe the negative things that happen to you today are a result of signals you've sent out. Thus, I want to send out signals that will bring me positive results. All these bad things that have been happening to me (including this recent loss of working for weeks and weeks only to lose everything I spent all that time I worked for) are a result of negative signals I put out. I want to learn how to send out positive signals, and be positive despite bad stuff.
I want to eliminate negative feelings of frustration from being poor and haivng to deal with problem after problem because of not having money. I want to focus on being thankful for all the wonderful things I have. All my abilities. All the people that have told me they really really see me exploding as an artist. There is so much to be thankful and positive about that make these negative things insignificant. I am very comfortable on stage, I amaze people, and I'll continue to level up in my music career.

I wish I could focus. I love to write stories, but I write about 1 chapter a month, because I cant sit down daily for just 30 minutes to write!
That's the only thing I hate about my self.
I love writing
I want to write
I enjoy writing
I have motivations to write
So, why can't I do it daily?
Why do I get distracted?
Why can't I focus?

Yay! This means we're going through something similar. You have to program yourself I guess. How much do you want to write tomorrow?
I'd like to write at least 750 words.

zenhabits.net is an awesome site. The guy lives in Guam and has six children, and loves his wife. What I love about reading his material is that he's been where all of us have and/are...then made some changes.
Got rid of extraneous distractions by clearing the clutter from his life, whether material or habitual?
It's a life long process and it's refreshing to read contect from someone who's more so sharing vs. selling, although he is selling material. It's not like the Tony *coughs* style...where Tony says you can have it all!
This guy says...you can find your way to contentment by giving up on having it all! Identify the four or five things that are important to you in life. Give those your time and attention. If the household item doesn't suit one of the purposes, remove or donate it. Just gel it down.
As to writing each day, I got the concept of the ten minute rule from the above mentioned website. Just giving the guy credit...and sharing information people who frequent this forum might also appreciate.
Just pick out ten minutes each day, where you'll sit down to write. Don't beat yourself up if you fail to do so one day, just keep setting that optimal planned moment aside and do it successfully for thirty days...then build from there.
Aristotle once said that excellence is a habit, and habits are developed through consious effort...that's a paraphrase.
Oh, it is so much easier to help someone with this.. I still haven't registered my car in the state I'm in and I've been here a year! There are several reasons, but there really is not an excuse.
Ok, what I would do since you are limited on funds, list them in priorty, as in like what is the cheapest to accomplish first like this:
*Cleaning car out is free if you have a vacuum you can use.
* When you go out to deal with court date run by post office and take care of the forwarding, buy a paper to look for jobs and run by the toll pass office so you save on gas money
*take a pic of the car you are selling and list online. There are free sites I believe
*Then the rest... as money becomes available and aren't you able to take care of your FOREX account online??
You sound like you are in fear about money more than anything and it's easy to not deal with the small stuff that mounts up when in that state. I know first hand! You sound like me just with a different list.
I really want to creeate a schedule and abude by it. I have a list for tomorrow though. It was my list for today which I didn't do because I was dealing with the tire situation.
-Reset court date, and find out status of this situation at the courthouse.
-Get mail/update address.
-Eat.
-Call guy that wants to inteview me for this acting agency admin job.
-Call guy who made offer on the car I'm selling.
-Post ad again for car.
-Deal with Forex thing.
-Exercise.
-Write.
Knowing how I am, I'll probably arrive to calling the guy who wanted to see the car. Then keel over in exhaustion.
I think it'd be awesome if you did all of those things in a day...from me that'd be too much? hmm...I'd prioritize eating first. Got to have energy fo the other things.
USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) is a good place to go to do a mailing address change if one's forwarding mail. It does cost 1 dollar on a debit card.
Excercise yes, I'd do that too. But one's got to go with their own important priorities.
Then I'd consider writing optional. In that it does the mind good, but food and exercise would cover physical needs/benefits. Adequate sleep would be another which I'm fudgin on right now to complete this post.
Then I'd pick two of the others considering what's most urgent for a day.
Bask in that accomplishment, and looking forward to meeting two others the next.
Yeh, breaking it down and prioritize. Pick four or five things max to do in a day...but if you choose eight or nine.. Just don't get discouraged if the wrung were set too high.
I pretty much was able to accomplish some of those things. I reset my court date. I collected my mail from my old PO Box. I also went to the bank which was important.
I think I'll do that address change online because the line was way too long at the post office to do it in person. That's all I did, and I'm proud of myself for that.
I also wanted to start testing my psychic abilities. The results were quite effective. Other than that, something bad happened to me today. I friend of mine sent me some really insulting text messages for no reason.
Hey Skillet,
looks like you have a good handle on what it is you need to accomplish.
Personally I've found that meditation helps tremendously with helping me to focus on one thing at time![]()
