Last week, I picked up a book at Barnes and Noble called, "Indigos: 10 Years Later" (Or something to that extent). I didn't buy it, but just read it for a good twenty or thirty minutes. It had alot of documentation, stories by people from all over about indigos in high school, college the work place. I'm considering purchasing it, but the reason it attracted me was there seems to be very little written material about adult indigos. I've always wondered what kind of advice such a book would have. There are basic things out there: dieting right, etc. It'd just be nice to have a compilation of adult indigos discussing their own explorations, memoirs and discoveries. I suppose, a refreshing look into the minds and stories of those like us. It would be nice to connect. I've been living in NYC for a while, and while I don't normally associate myself with any particular groups or identities, it's good to reach out sometimes from my eccentric hermitage and speak to communities, people.
In the spirit of sharing that knowledge, use this thread to share your advice.
I've found the Michael teachings to be particularly interesting, especially the one about older soul ages.
I find myself to be continuously cycling around, almost like "seasons" which go back and forth in growth and decay. Times where the so-called "ascension symptoms" are happening, third eye pressure, lucid dreams, synchronicity, and then times of running around in the material world. A twin soul of mine told me in these "winters" where no apparent spiritual growth occurs, that I felt "smaller," as if any emergent spiritual presence dwindled in the midst of school work, assignments and college social life. In that sense, I feel I oscillate between old and mature soul ages. I have only bursts of interest in the material world, career, etc. As far as advice for anyone with similar experiences:
Temper yourself with meditation. Practice becoming sensitive to the subtle energies and the connection they have with the body. You learn much of yourself that way, not even in terms of your own physical presence. It opens you up to the heart, the mind, and connection and sensitivity with others. More still, it helps you recognize cosmic patterns and cycles in all things, and the connection with all that is (and beyond).
In times when I have meditated frequently, it felt as if old shells were unraveling, old habits of thinking first became noticed, then loosened and eventually dissolved. I have always believed that intelligence is not just the ability to think, but to be aware of how we think. This helps us evolve to greater modes of self awareness, and therefore a more authentic relationship with the world.
In short, listen to your body. Your heart, mind, soul and spirit will unravel, or as they say, it is kundalini.
It's easy for us to become so lost in the craziness of this world, but the good news is, things are changing even beyond our circles. Getting a formal education, and becoming lost in that for a while, has had some benefits. I've seen the subtle shifts in culture, in the way everyone in our society organizes themselves. We're witnessing, even from a purely material outlook, a paradigm shift. New technology and new ideas are empowering people in ways never seen before. We've begun to lose our need for institutions. New technology allows us to do it ourselves. Now, indigos are often called system-busters, in a sense we can become this in the language of everyday folk by just being who we are: media users, social networkers, facebook users, etc. That's on a very basic social/tech level.
On other levels, new ways of thinking have emerged. New philosophies that attempt to see underlying meaning in all things (Ken Wilber, for one, another was Alan Watts). Can we see how the world at large is shifting? Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically--all intertwined.
I don't want this to become a rant, so I'll end here! These are my current thoughts, and I'd love to see how they are connected to our community here, the ideas we have learned. It's vital to see how we are part of an even greater shift that is evolution on many levels.
