I learned to play the piano when I was 3 and I have had a a record player and portable music device strapped to my body my whole life, like a damn cyborg. I have always loved music and I am not exclusive to any genre. In high school I was involved in punk, ska, rave and hip-hop scenes in the greater NYC area. I have always been an outsider in every scene I've been involved with because I love music but not genres or limitations. My favorite musical things are usually gamelan orchestras, old synthesizers, circuit bent toys, data bent data, harry partch, stockhausen, Can, caberet voltaire, I adore the new portishead album, My bloody valentine, Adult., The Selecter, Lee Scratch Perry, U-Roy, Dub reggae, Dillinger, Johny Cash, Anti-pop consortium, Digable Planets,Canible Ox, Cloudead, Bad Brains, Detroit Techno, Carl Craig, Cybotron, Drexiya, Juan Atkins, Model 500, Aphex Twin, Acid House, electro, hip-house, old school Chicago and NYC house, Joy division, E.S.G., Liars, Deerhoof, Serge Gainsbourg, Deerhunter, Boredoms, Mr. Bungle, A certain Ratio, Swans, Sonic Youth, James Chance and the Contorions, Fela, Femi, Foday Musa Suso, Ali Fakre Toure, Afro-brazilian music, Carioca Funk, excepter, tons of experimental type stuff
Miles Davis, the list goes on and on.... I have hundreds of c.d.s and vinyl. I used to d.j. regularly now I make experimental electronic stuff on my own and in a band.
    I looooooove music YAY!!

I love everything except for most techno... I bloody well can't stand most of that. It makes my head hurt.

I'd rather not listen to 50 Cent or Toby Keith if given the choice either, but that's lyrical annoyance, not sound quality.

Well, I love mainly; reggae, ska, rock (usually 70s), punk, then....some jazz, some classical, nature sounds, colliery bands, 1930s, all sorts of music really, and I cannot stand 'rave', trance, dance music etc, mainstream chart music, tuneless too-fast shouty punk or emo.
I'm in a reggae band, my man is in a punk band!

I listen to so many differant kinds of music, but am not a truly huge fan of any band or artist really. I tend to find one or tow songs, mabye a few more, that I like by one artist but never really like all of their music.
To give an idea of the wide range I enjoy, here are some favorates on my computer.

Four Seasons - Silence is Golden
Josh Groban - To Where You Are
    Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World
    Frank Sinatra - My way
    Abba - Fernando

I listen to all sorts of music. Mostly dance and Techno tho. Sometimes even classical. Very little country, and hard rock is another good one. My love for music is huge, and I can't go a day without listening to it lol

Listen to this song and tell me what you think... it's pure genius, stream of consciousness....
YouTube - God Is Alive Magic Is Afoot Buffy Sainte-Marie

"This I mean to whisper to my mind
This I mean to laugh with in my mind
This I mean my mind to serve 'til
    service is but Magic
    moving through the world
    and mind itself is Magic
    coursing through the flesh
    and flesh itself is Magic
    dancing on a clock
and time itself the magic length of God."

Very nice. That sounds very similar to my collection with the exception of ska (what is that?). As for the music you mentioned that is club music right? Not so crazy about that either. I always say, "I appreciate it, but don't care for it," as my husband used to say to me when I would cook an elaborate dinner for him but he didn't like it LOL. Hey at least now I don't have to slave over a stove! HA!
