    The Recommended Movie/dvd Thread

This ad goes away when you register.
    THIS SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PLACE to begin and organize a thread for DVD's and movies viewed, reviewed and recommended by Indigos for Indigos. There are some scattered commentaries on the site but it sure would be neat to have them collected - thus;

CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD (2006) Rated ****+

THIS is definitive GodSpeak. Circumstance, Deja'Vu, Serendipity, Anguish, Transcendance, romance (?) and more all rolled into a WONDERFUL story of a man trying to sort it all out and find himself through it all. Based on a true story, this is ALMOST a documentary.

KEY EVENT: The hero, down on his luck, calls about a job he found in the newspaper. Turns out the newspaper won't be published for two days yet. Through the uncommon workings of fate, the twists and turns help him to find - and love - himself. Good move, loving one's self..

RATING: Out of five possible stars, I give it a 4+. THE STORY is the strength of this one. Anybody could play the hero including any one of the Three Stooges or Johnny Depp.

YOU'LL NEED: Popcorn, a good cool drink, the remote. THE TELEPHONE (the call may be insignificant but the point of interruption in the show is important) and some kleenex.

Watch with a friend. Take it to church.

    YANNI: THE CONCERT EVENT 2006
What a celebration of God! Yanni at the Acropolis was superb but the man has REALLY brought his thing together with this one!

Instead of a keyboard electronicaly simulating a hammer dulcimer, he has a REAL amplified dulcimer player.. etc, etc. PLUS some really exotic ancient instuments AND a HARP PLAYER who rocks!

THESE MUSICIANS ARE OBSESSED with their instruments and the music, just as he is and they've had ten years or so to get rid of anything OTHER than the music.

This is right up there with Pink Floyd's "Pulse" double CD and maybe even better - less theatrics, more music. It is a Jam --- of Masters.

RATING: ***** Five stars of a possible 5.

    THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP.

I fell asleep. To be fair though, there are some really great special effects worth seeing, imitating Neurosis at its best complete with some interesting hallucinations. Reminds one of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" or Stanley Kubrik's "A Clockwork Orange" BUT the story line (?) is a sad shadow of those classics.

Lotsa "artsy" takes - set in Paris, some spoken French with subtitles for the Stupid Americans and British. A well-produce flick but other than that it was either over my head, pretensious or boring. Pick one

    Maybe I was just tired.

    RATING: ** 2 stars out of a possible 5.

Please explain why you like V For Vendetta that much. Many others do too, but I dont get why. I guess I missed some points of the dvd. I do admit I was extremely tired when I saw it.

So - Ya Wanna Unnerstand Human Nature, Eh?

    THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

If you haven't seen it you probably haven't been born yet. To really get the most out of it you need to understand camp burlesque and OLD MOVIES as far back as "Them, The Thing, The Triffids Tarantula, The Day The World Stood Still" and other films your grandma will say "Oh my God!" about when you mention them.

HERE is a list of 1,000 of the all-time greats to jog your memory with a brief synopsis of each one. A great grab-bag and your Indigo friends will APPRECIATE your sifting through them, for the best!

You will be tempted to view ths one because of the title INDIGO Sorry folks but this one kinda sucks.. The movie DOES what the story line preaches against - capitalizes on the Indigo Phenomenon. Gifted little girl gets abducted by bad guys that wanna steal her talented work, underestimates her, etc. You'll have the next scene figured out before it plays.

Not the best casting, Plays on the sensationlism and has the imagination of a prune.

    RATING: ** Two stars. Barely
