    Thinking Outloud

    Live life with no regrets
    But what regret
    Is bigger than life itself
    The sun sets everyday
    And rises every morning
Only to see that nothing has changed
    Cup of coffee
    Cream and sugar
    To kill the bitterness
    A smoke in hopes
    To speed things up
    ..a bit
    Take a drive
    End in disappointment
    You're ok
    Kick back
    Chit chat
    Riff raff
    Bull shit
    So where's this soul
Why can't I see what makes me move
When I hear this drum beat
    This strumming
    ...It's not in the coffee

If not "in" the coffee, maybe it is the coffee, ..."bitterness" and all?

Ooohhhh is that interesting...perhaps the coffee culture IS an expression of identification with the bitterness in life.

I just love the rolling scene at the beginning of Weeds when they play Melvina Reynold's Little Boxes song with the professionals all in their suits and ties marching into and out of coffee shops to get their daily dose of bitterness all wrapped up pretty and nice in a little cup, like all the other little cups people carry around with them, all full o' bitterness.

    hmmmmm....LOL

I just don't think there are THAT many bitter people out there...are there?

    Nice observation, Sharpie.

    They do seem plentiful.

Speaking for myself, there have been times, black-suited and all tied-up in formality, in which I couldn't help but see myself as the bitterest of penguins among the soaring birds of prey. *lol*

That paints a vivid picture. I work in a penguin factory (investment bank) and fortunately, with the changing times, it is loosening up a bit, not as formal as it used to be.

I get a sunset at the end of each day, so that's worth it!
