To young?

Hmm......im jus wondering if this is stupid to feel how i do, but i am only 17 and i have such an urge to have kids, i know i am well to young but i jus wanna be a dad and stuff.....maybe its jus my spirit guide jus making me feel like it he is only a lil kid but i jus feel like i could be a really good dad....but yeh wondering if im jus weird or what...

ive always wanted to have children since a young age.mainly for personal reasons..
i was abused by my dad when i was young and i wanted to prove to him that wat he does to me isnt going to change who i am.coz he'll say over and over that im gonna grow up to be just like him.

but other than that personal reason,i think kids keep me smilling..keeps me honest and grounded..

Strictly speaking at 17 you are still a kid yourself! Having a family at that age is really tough, but having said that it is not unusual. Good luck, you are not weird.

When I do my parenting courses with men, I alwas tell them you don't have to be like your Dad. Bring up your kids the way you would have been liked to have been brought up.

I think that everyone has urges to start a family of their own some day but it is a big decision. I know that I am too nervous and too much of a worrier to be responsible for another humans life. It's a never ending job. Also, I need everything to be just so and I know it's not possible with children. Just be patient.

I've just said goodbye to my 4 month old granddaughter on her way back to South Africa, it feels as if my heart has been ripped out, but it is worth it for 2 weeks of love.

As an adult indigo - who is also the mother of an indigo (age 16)- I understand completely the urge to have children. YOU'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE. But keep in mind, even though YOU may be ready for children - you still have to live in and raise them in a world that may not be ammenable to a seventeen-year-old parent. The responsibilities of being a parent are awesome.

I guess the question is - are you ready to take responsibility for the child you would bring into the world? Are you ready to put your life on hold so that they can get on with theirs?

I'm 17 as well, but I have no desire to have kids what so ever. If I were you, I'd wait until your mid-late 20s. Get some living under your belt, once you have a kid your resources will need to go to the kid. Think it through, deeply, and be ready to love your kid unconditionally and raise a responsible, independant, and productive person.

The urge to reproduce is natural. It is a good thing you developed the urge for a family. You are lucky to not have this instinct corrupted like so many in the West that only value sex.

I know since I can think I will be a mother. A deep instinct in me.
I tempted the desire by taking care of my inner child in my tummy.
I must say that completes me.

I feel like taking care of children and experience the process of having life in my tummy, and giving birth to it, it's something I may do.

Not from a -I want it- like a present, or to furfill my needs, but from abundance and passion.

So the desire is gone, the passion lives on.

Sometimes you just know what will happen and what is good.
I know I will be a mother and it will be good, and a challenge!

I'm only 17, and I have a strong maternal instinct that pulls me toward children. I definently know that I am too young, but I can't wait to have children. I have a very strong connection with small children for some reason, and even more so latley they seem to be clinging to me. Children love to look into my eyes for some reason, and when they do.. they laugh. Hm.. i don't know, but I can't wait to be a mother, just not at this moment. I've had times where I thought I was pregnant, and its not a fun feeling, being so young and all, and hoping your parent wont find out you had sex. But, I do know where you're coming from. *sighs* if i were only older...

17 is young in this world to have children, and you will be surprised how much you personally learn and grow in the next 10 years.

In the meantime why don't you get into childcare or teaching of some kind, so you can have some hands on experience?

I'll be honest with you: it's not easy being a parent. Buddist monks may go and meditate for days on the cliff of a mountain, but there is nothing as humbling, as great a lesson in patience and empathy, as enlightening as being a parent. It's more huge than anyone who has not yet had children of their own can imagine. It's just one of those things you come to fully understand by immersion.

In this way, Parenting is a spiritual journey which should not be entered into lightly. It can be a most wonderful thing if you are ready for it....please wait...live your life and learn, so that when it is your time to enter into this journey, you will have many bedtime stories to tell, and many lessons to teach.
