By the "systems" money is worthless unless backed by "gold", which is why printing our own money may actually worsen the inflation. Personally, I think if a large enough group of people started another way of currency (ex: trade), and since it would work (as the recession is still going) more people would join, and eventually it is possible that "money" would be nothing. people would get what they need by trading things.

Then the systems money is worthless because it is not backed by gold, it was decades ago, but is no longer. Currency came around to facilitate trade, however the problem is whoever controls the means of producing currency has an extraordinary amount of power.

A new/old concept. When slaves were first freed, many plantation owners paid their wages in money they made and charged them dearly in the stores they ran. A way to keep the freed enslaved and to pay for labor they could not afford after confederate money became obsolete.
