cool, just the other night i was watching a video where Rupert Sheldrake, a parapsychology researcher talked about how there is supposedly a parrot in the NY area that he visited which had a telepathic connection to the owner.
He did a study where the owner looked at several pictures in a separate room and the parrot described the photos accurately.
Rupert Sheldrake - The Extended Mind - Telepathy. Pt 1/3
kinda makes me want to get a parrot or some kind of bird so i can teach it to talk seems like it'd be interesting. with some 'schooling' they can definitely talk to us and formulate opinions and ideas.

OMG I loved it. So cute. Thanks for linking it.
You get what you think about whether you want it or not.
Parrots are incredible creatures. People think that something so small could not be intelligent, but if we think of the human brain as a computer, which it is. All our brains are highly-developed, organic computers. We know that computers do not need to be large to work efficiently. Smaller mini-computers can be just as efficient too. I do not doubt that parrots can understand us, or that they have feelings, or thoughts.
I have a little cockatiel, who often says very strange things under her breath like that little parakeet, but I do not understand half of what she says, maybe I should listen more carefully! However, I think in the above video a lot of what that little budgie says is mostly budgie speak, and being turned into something other than what it is by humans.
I also have a beautiful African Grey Parrot, Cedric, who speaks quite often. I do believe that birds do speak to us telepathically, and at the moment, the birds of the earth are very upset. They are upset at mankind for harming nature and the parrots of the earth.![]()

"Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out, and you get loose in the joints, and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."-The Skin Horse.
that's awesome

Sorry this thread is sort of old, but...
I love Victor. He is so full of cuteness. XD It doesn't surprise me that a bird would be psychic, though. They are often quite empathic.
A cool thing is, there's this magazine I get for people with birds, called BirdTalk Magazine. In one of their most recent editions, there was an article about telepathy between birds and their people. It shocked me that they'd go as far as to mention that in a magazine intended for many - probably many who don't believe in that sort of thing. I thought it was so cool that they were brave enough to do that. It mentioned someone who had a bird who would say what the person was thinking. The person would be minding their own business, doing whatever, and would start thinking about something. And soon after the thought was projected, the bird would say those very things, in English.
My birds aren't talkers - some birds like to talk and some don't. If you have a bird that does seem adept at learning words, then you start using those words when you want a bird to understand something. For instance, you say "good night" when you turn off the light in the room the bird is in. You say "Hello" or "Hi" only when you walk into the room, "Goodbye" when you leave, etc. *thinks* I don't know why I'm rambling about this. XD
It's funny, though. Even non-talkers are intelligent and can learn to understand the things you say to them. My cockatiel surprises me sometimes, and I think she knows a lot more than she lets on. And sometimes, I have no idea how she understands it. Like, this one time - I was lying on my bed reading something and I had her out - she was sitting on the corner of my bed. She came over and started chewing on what I was reading (parrot-birds love paper). Not expecting anything, I said jokingly, "That's not for you. Go back over there to your corner." She turned around and walked back over there. She waited until I was reading again, and came back. Again, I told her that that paper wasn't for her, and to go back to where she had been. She did. The third time this happened, I just laughed and snuggled her - it was just too funny. She was teasing me - deliberately waiting until I wasn't looking before coming back.
Thing is, I had never said those things to her before, about going back to her corner. There wasn't any real way that she would have known what I meant. (Though she has proven to understand words that I have taught her, such as "scritchies" when I want to pet her.) I wonder if she was telepathically reading me.
I LOOOOVE african greys... they are the smartest birds! I worked in a petstore and we had a baby come in i had to feed every day and he looooved me... He would give me kisses and screech for me to come back and watch for me until i came back out. He would call for me very specifically and i loved him i wanted to buy him but alas... it was not meant to be.He was so smart and so beautiful. Started to talk just as someone bought him... i taught him to say kisses and hello. I would say kisses? and he'd put his beak up to my lips so i could give him kisses and hed snuggle up against me... awww now im tearing up...

Hehe, my cockatiel understands what "kisses" means, too.I'll just sit there and kiss her, she is so sweet. XD She also understands that "scritchies" means I'm going to pet her on the head (or preen her feathers), and that "doingies" means I'm going to gently doing her feather-crest. We got her from the animal shelter - her previous people abused her. She cannot fly due to a badly-healed broken wing and she plucks some of her feathers out (though she is working on that and is getting better). It took her a couple of years before she would start to trust us. She used to not want our attention, but now she revels in it. She loves affection and is so sweet. So along the way, I learned to tell her what I was doing before I did it. Once she learned those terms, she understood what I was about to do and would freak out less when my hand came towards her. She's a lot more trusting now, though.
And of course, we have three budgies (parakeets, like Victor), as well - just felt like I was leaving them out.
Oh, have any of you ever heard of Alex the Grey?

Red feather...animals think in pictures..try communicating sending them pictures...it's easier than just using verbal and physical cues...and if u can think like them enough to send them pictures..you ll create a way where they can also seems thoughtforms back to you...cool thread..
