    early influence

    I'm just wondering...

did you grow up in a spiritual or religious family?

    or in a secular family?

couldn't figure out how to make a poll

I grew up in a religious carousel. Church was mandatory one week because Mom got a case of pious guilt up her hass and brow beat everyone into going. Then we wouldn't go for months. We seldom went to the same place twice. Some neighbors took me to a tent revival where I had the fear of God put into me and I refused to have anything to do with church again unless it was wedding or funeral (and that was iffy too.) I hated God with a passion for most of my early life.

My mother had strange ideas about religion. I'm probably the only person in the world who had a religous nut mother who told the ministers they were assholes or pricks.

I mean parental relgious conditioning wasn't exactly text book. Somewhat hypocritical.

The few other churches we went to we weeeeeeeird. Like trying to resurrect an embalned boy from the dead. I remember when I whispered to my dad, "What happens if they succeed?"

He said, "They'll all shit their pants."

So my Dad wasn't a good religious navigator either.

But I never accepted Xianity even from the earliest beginning. I was too sensitive to accept that people needed die and burn in hell for all eternity.Especially me. I was like 6 I hadn't even done anything wrong yet but was doomed for hell. I hated them all. I'd scream bloody murder and attach myself to any fixture to prevent going to church which , in a southern baptist family, means that you are viewed as possessed by the devil.

my parents were more into communism in the days , and are quite against the idea of religion or anything that have to do with it =) but well in the same time the place where i grew up is quite a celtic place, and if there is a bible belt in france, it is there, and in my early school it was taken care of by nuns and the whole school was linked to catholic church of the place and was quite catholic, everybody made their baptem and confirmation and such, in fact i was pretty much the only one not to know the prayer and not being into catheshism =) so i guess it impacted me a bit even if it is not with my familly =)

i grew up in a non religious non spiritual household. My mom tried getting us to attend bible studies at church, but only because our daycare lady kept talking about it. It was pretty much a find out for yourself at your own pace kind of thing. no talk about angels, afterlife, or god.

well I am honestly still trying to figure out the whole "god" thing.
Everyone seems to have it figured out but there doesnt seem to be many clear answers.

    true...true freedom within....

umm... well now i'm christian but not really christian either...i'm basically a free religion person...i would like to try buddhism....

me i was born as muslim... considering that i have quite a unique circumstances in my family.... my mum is christian but then she went on to be muslim because she marries my dad...which then they divorce....she's christian again now...but anyway...

back in my country indonesia it's kind of much more "accepted" to be muslim than other religions.... but anyway...my mum don't really taught me much about those stuff... though she did taught me to believe in god and pray to god and proving the miracles of god...which is true by the way...she gives me freedom to be any religion as long as you're not atheist... i agree with her...

    that's my story...

My mother is Christian, my dad is an atheist. I got taken to church every Sunday presumably because they agreed that was okay, but it wasn't forced on me at home (neither was the atheism)

God is subjective to the individual. However one views God, that God will manifest in their life for them. So people who like Bible God will live fearfully, everything that happens is not an opportunity for a lesson or enrichment or ending something so something else can begin but a punishment.

If someone views God as a natural energetic force that permeates everything they likely are able to manifest by their pov. The tend to graviate towards natural religions that are chaotic and peaceful.

If one doesn't believe in God anything that is brought to them will not have a God related conclusion to it.

For people who are looking to God pick a God the same way as if you had opportunity to pick friends and family. You look for what is best and most spiritualy beneficial for you.
