    anyone ride a horse?

I'm thinking about this as a new hobbie venture for healing and self development.
These are happy stable creatures (variables depends on their owner/trainers obviously)..But I feel like I have a true force to engage such energy..
    Winston Churchill rode one..

I've been locked in the woowoo world too much. My first thought when I read the title was of Lwa or Netjeru. Mostly Lwa.

I haven't ridden horses for a long time, due to money issues. Which is good, as I'm allergic to them anyway.

I love riding... jadeblack is someone really good to chat too she has a bunch It is very cathartic for me and I love it. Riding is so much fun and it really is a great way to connec with an amazing energy. There's energy between you and the horse, the horse and the ground and it just is an immediate happy boost.

I breed and have ridden horses for almost 30 years now in the English disciplines. Mostly been breeding in the past several years but I am hoping to get back into riding more. I miss the freedom, energy balancing and peacefulness it gives you. If you want to work with horses with spirituality and energy in mind there are instructors out there. My neighbor does many clinics and sessions. Just depends on what you want from the experience with them.

I am sure you will enjoy the experience no matter what you choose.

horsebackrideing can be very theraputic and spiritual. I've ridden since about third grade and I just recently graduated college. Horses are amazingly empathic, telepathic, and healing. I believe that they can help strengthen these abilities in their humans if they are open to such an experience.

The most problems you may run into are, they are expensive, and not just owning them, but and lessons and leaseing horses can be expensive too after a while too, but it is highly addictive! Once your fall in love with horses and rideing your unlikely to want to ever quit

Also many horse people have a shockingly strange outlook on horses, you will find many "horse" people out there who do not veiw there horses as intellegent thinking feeling beings, but merely as things, or high mantainance sports equitment, try to convince them otherwise and they think your looney. This can get annoying and can be very sad as they don't always treat their horses in a respectful way,so be prepared from the off to deal with people like this.

beyond that horses have many things they can teach us humans, and not only is rideing a great way to get exercise but can be a great way to form a bond with theses magnificant animals.

I'm in the barn twice a week, and am in a corrective seat riding class right now since my years hunt jumping distorted me...lol. It's my therapy. Grooming a horse is therapeutic, mastering the connection that makes a spiritual partnership with the horse is therapy, all is therapy they are among the most psychic of animals. When people fail you and turn into Jekyl and Hyde there is the horse, steady as a wall and always being a horse. Maybe not being a well behaved horse but always being a horse. "I love you now but I will not acept the bit right now. Come back tommorow." Predictable in what unpredictable thing they will do next.

I've experienced all sort of horses, with European warmbloods being a luxury. Haflingers are easy to keep, easy to feed (with restrictions) and very gentle even the stallions if you are unaccustomed to bein around more tempermental animals. They are pony sized draft horses. Appaloosa's are terrific too as far as keeping feet and fodder to a minimum.

Keeping a horse inexepensively or expensively is how you set yourself up. I have friends that do no riding at all and just keep pet horses. Depends on where you are at, how much property (graze available). The more graze they have the less you will have to concern yourself with providing hay. You prvide your own by keeping a separate hayfield. You need to check with your ag department to find out what is growing in your pasture as some grasses are not good for horses. Grain can be given as supplemental feed instead of actual meal feed s depending on how much graze you have available and how much you work the horses. Plus feet can be expensive. Can you learn to trim them yourself? Can you afford the farrier every month or six weeks? Those are things to consider. Do as much yourlse as possible. They are frequently very delicate animals in spiite of their strong appearances.

Check out Sally Swift's book Centered Riding to leanr more about energy work and riding.

I grew up with horses, my dad used to breed them, he had almost 100 at one point. We had ponies and donkeys too. Donkey's are lazy and stubborn it seems. At least ours were. They just liked to eat and stand still , they got quite fat, but we used to practice getting on bareback with them coz they just stand there. Never move.

I love horses! I grew up riding horses in my dad's farm back in my native country. If you are in the US, Northeastern side there is a very interesting workshop at Kripalu called conscious riding. I've been to Kripalu many times and it's my sacred place to go when I need a break and need to reconect!

The horses that I knew I did great with, but then I went riding with a friend one day actually 2 times, 2 different friends, and the horses got spooked and took off with us on them.... I thought i was gonna die, lol...so I have been afraid ever since.. I still love to pet them and feed them though.

A few years ago I was called upon to seek and find a white horse who had thrown her young rider during a steeple chase event and gotten lost in the nature preserve. I found her deep within a buckthorn, howthorn, and prickly multiflora rose thicket, peacefully standing, fully tacked, in a small clearing about the size of a stall.

I lead her through the thicket but it was quite an experience. You do not 'lead' a horse. you let her come along side you with her big dark, all-seeing eye. You invite her to partkae of the journey through the twisty windy thicket. You let her see and gaze and consider the options of which way to go. You reach an agreement. At the end of the day, I knew fully and deeply the meaning of the word "WITH". I don't know how well my words convey the experience, it was very moving.

When I re-united the horse with her young rider and the rider's mother I tried to tell them what a sweet and cooperative horse she was and what a surreal pleasant experience it was to lead her through the thicket. They lauded me for being a hero but could not grasp what I was tyring to say about the horse. Said she could be very "mare-ish". I remember the horse's sudden jolt as the young rider flung the halter over her head rather sudden and abruptly. My feeling is they could not SEE the horse because they were occupied making up humanized stories about why she might do things, and it was about the bit and bridle and placement of feet in the stirrups, and without the quiet listening perceiving that leads to understanding.

So, maybe you may want to see if there is a stable around that needs someone to help 'walk' their horses.
