last night I dreamt that a wizard told me that my strongest totem at the moment was the owl, so I went out into the wilderness to find him. I finally reached a beatiful meadow with lots of wildflowers and great tall pine trees. amongest them I saw flying my brother owl. Suddenly I realised that it was night time, even though everything was visibal is if it were day, it was cast in a strange light so that I knew it was night. I was seeing things as the owl sees them. Then before I knew it I was in the air and flying.
The owl was teaching me.
he was showing me that there is a light in the darkness that most cannot see, and that not only could I see in the dark, I could fly threw it!
It is really interseting because I remeber another dream through the exact opposite perspective. I was a bat, and I could hardly see anything so it wasn't worth trying to see. I knew I could find my way through the dark useing my echolocation, then an owl came and chased me, he was hunting me.
to look at the owl and the bat together can show us some interesting things. the bat trusts to its future even though it can't see it in the conventional way, it can feel its way by sound and intuition or interpretation of sound.
The owl can see the future and knows were it is going. Its eyes reflect the light of the moon and stars, just as the moon reflects the light of the sun. The owl teaches us to be at balance with the night by reflecting the light around us onto others. The owl in many cultures is an bad omen, an omen of death. The owl teaches us about death, it is a spectacular hunter. It teaches us that death is natural and that there is nothing to fear from it, just as there is nothing to fear from the darkness. When we fear death and darkness we lose sight of the light that is reflected in the moon.
The owl also teaches us about listening and silence. the owl has one ear positioned slightly above the other, so that it can pinpoint exactly the suble sounds of small animals in the underbrush. He has frayed endings of his feather pinions, so that he can fly in complete silence. Humans are largly talkative social creature, but sometimes it can do us good to be quiet and listen to the world around us and what it is trying to tell us. the owl teaches us to harness and pay attention to the subtle energies of sound
Athena Greek Goddess of Wisdom had an owl
so did Merlin.
and although I wrote this without a source I have read extensively the book Animal Speak and would like to contribute some of my knowlege to it.

Bigger whirls have little whirls,
That feed of there velocity,
And little whirls have lesser whirls,
And so on to viscosity.
the owl- is the symbol of labor and knowlege- my totem is the white wolf- my ancestors the shaman ones- supposedly could turn into white wolves
The first step is the first for a thousand miles, I've hit the ground running.
