    Aliens? Proof?

I have always wanted to believe that there is life on other planets. I mean there are so many out there, but I guess you could say that I do not know whether or not to believe since I have never met and alien and I know that just because you haven`t seen something you does not mean you should not believe.
If aliens are real. What do they look like? Are they not they different from us or are they more like the ones in science fiction?
Is there any way you could prove that they are not real or that they are? If you believe they are I want to see one.

on a more serious note, it is entirely possible that there is/are aliens. But I'd like to think that they would be intelligent enough to figure a way to blend in

If they are real then why blend in?

do you really think that mankind is ready to accept the fact that we're not alone?

    even if aliens are real

and even if they are/were here for benign purposes

chances are they would not just come out and say "we're here". It would throw the whole planet into an uproar.

Unless of course that was their purpose.

I am willing to accept that we are not alone, but as for other it just depends on the individual.
And if they are blending in then why do some people believe they have met aliens.. What makes them any more special than the next person?

I like to keep an open mind about them since I've had quite a few interesting 'UFO' experiences but I think sometimes the ET craze goes a bit too far. :/

lol well it is hard to keep an open mind when I have not experienced anything to do with aliens. All I have ever seen in the sky is stars, animals, clouded, and man made stuff. Oh and the occasional balloon.

I think that the concept of aliens is, in its own way, the modern day equivalent of "hope".

For centuries "hope" was the property of religion. The Church offered "hope" through salvation.

Modern man (for the most part) no longer clings to religion for hope. But mankind still needs hope.

and so they look to the stars. they want so badly to believe that there is something - somewhere - coming to "save" them.

If only they could grasp the concept that they are capable of saving themselves, that in their own selves is contained the seed of salvation.

The fact that we exist is proof enough, I think. It's pretty stupid to think that, in the entire vastness of the cosmos, Earth is the only one with life.

If we can be here, then clearly it's possible for something to exist out there.

lol I am religious, but I have no hope... hoping does not get us anywhere. Actions do.
Of course it is possible, but it does not mean necessarily there are aliens out there.

Actions would be pointless if they weren't aimed at a hope, an ideal. They are part of each other.

Highly probable. The universe is far too immense for there not to be.

Some people believe because, like SSHenry said, they like the hope. Some people like the intrigue. Some people have had their own experiences.

Find a credible UFO website and read some testimonials and decide for yourself whether or not you believe. It's not something that can be proven or disproved, unfortunately, at this time.

You don't have to exclusively believe or disbelieve though, as I can guess that makes you uncomfortable. It's unwise to not have a bit of both skeptic and believer in one's self anyway.

    Well, here goes my input...

    Are there aliens out there?

    Sure!

I mean, it's only natural to assume there would be other planets, brimming with intelligent life forms. The universe is just too large a place to be so lonely...hehehe...what a waste it'd be if only 1 planet were to be inhabited among all those endless galaxies, star systems and endless other planets, right?

But I've no idea whatsoever of just how close to Earth they may be or if they have actually made contact...or even know that we're here, for that matter. After all, there could be a gazillion planets out there just like us: not knowing for sure, cuz they have no way of contacting us or knowledge of our xistenz. In other words, they may be just as interested in this topic as we are and stuck in the same place we are at today.

Is there any proof of their xistenz?

I have never met any aliens myself nor any reliable, trustworthy people who have. But I myself have seen UFO's from time to time. UFO's as in Unidentified Flying Objects. What were they? Beats me! But that's the closest I've come to any kind of contact with sentient beings from other worlds...if the UFO's I saw were spaceships from another world(s) or if they were just hot air balloons, I just dunno.

Also, I'd like to add to what sshenry said concerning hope. Hope and the sense of not being alone are what have led humankind to build up myths about deities and such (sorry, NOT religious here) and now, all this buzz bout flyin' saucers, ET's and such (myth or not). Cuz let's face it: people just don't like to feel alone, even tho we pretty much are alone since we're born and till we die. But, if we learn to live with, get 2 know and trust our own selves, we'll never feel alone...nor sit around and wait for Superman to fall from Krypton 2 save the day either

However, as far as proof goes (real, tangible, irrefutable proof) I, like u, Anemani, haven't seen any. So I'll remain neutral on the subject as well.

Asking for proof is a difficult one, its unlikely you'll find it - I've taken the fence and decided that I no longer 'believe' or 'not believe' in them anymore..

What I do believe though, is that there are ALOT of things on Earth that just don't add up - experiences that cannot be explained without opening your mind to the possibility of new ideas.
And with that in mind, I'm going to listen to everyone that claims to know, and pick out the stuff that makes sense because if they are here - I damn sure want to know about it lol!

I find it hard to believe that among billions of galaxies, each with billions of solar systems, Earth is the only place life has evolved. It's rather absurd to believe there isn't life out there.
