Well I finally managed to track it down. I would have had to wait until it came out on TV. Can't afford $11 just for a movie. Even though it wasn't 3-D, and the definition was blocky during the quick action, I am still glad I saw it. Didn't even mind the sub-titles in Russian (or whatever that was)

Just saw it. Great sci-fi plot. And obviously the artistic presentation is phenomenal. But I think it's important most of all as the metaphor of a New Age. The economic and military powers don't win in the long run. The living interconnections do. It's not sappy wish fulfillment (visualizing peace or some such) since it does take fighting back.
Two associations I see: That interconnectedness actually exists here. Almost all plants, particularly trees, grow with fungus on their roots. Called mycorrhizae; and around that is a highly complex cooperative system with thousands of critters. Makes symbiosis, and not competition, the dominant mode of existence on earth.
And about the central tree of the Na'vi it is said "She does not take sides, but maintains balance." Biological, sure. But it's also a good discription of the Tree of Life of Kabbalah. The middle path being a way of balance between the way of mysticism and the way of power (magic).
