How do you get a job in this economy?

I have been job hunting but no one is hiring just taking applications and some of them are even laying off people!!!

This ad goes away when you register.

I am talking about basic fast food and store jobs. How do you find a job? I have no experience with anything! I do have a car and I only know how to clean, cook, and mow lawns. Would it be a good idea to set up a business?

I am considering it seriously as it is the one thing I know how to do well. Especially bugs me to go other people's homes and see the kitchen and bathrooms dirty.

i think its a great idea, what have ya to lose, fear sometimes can not make you jump !! but what have you to lose ? and word of mouth is great ,your as good as your last job, thats the way i look at business, start off with a price you will be happy with, if you price too low ,you can end up a busy fool, price it that you will enjoy what your doing, that way you get what you want out of it, if your that clean thats your advantage, peopl will love that sort of attension to their homes,

i,m from Ireland however the advice i can give you is to ring around looking for your house to be cleaned, and you,ll get an idea what the competition is charging that way you.ll know how to price yourself just a little lower, if you choose

You are on the right path. Two things:

    1) forget about "this economy" (said with a sneer of hopeless defeat) and don't worry about money. You are energy. Money is energy. Abundance is energy. So what you have to do is forget the naysayers who say the economy is so awful and this and that. You have to figure out a way to attract ABUNDANCE to you, which doesn't necessarily = having a lot of money. And you attract abundance to you by your thoughts. So regardless of whatever the current situation is with the value of the dollar or this or that, thinking or focusing on that at ALL wont help you. Yes there are a lot of people looking for jobs but you have to be of the mindset that you will get hired above all of them (if you even wish to go the route of working for someone else) because you are YOU. You can't have any doubts, you have to just keep trying for the jobs you want and know the right one will come.

    2) Think about what you WANT to do in life, not just get by for right now. What's your dream? If you don't know your dream, figure it out. I don't care if it's to be a rock star, psychologist or whatever else, or if it seems unreachable, I promise you, its NOT unreachable. But you have to know what it is before you can start focusing on it and taking steps to reach it. My dream is to be a successful artist and writer and have my work touch and inspire people around the world. What's yours?

Look to something you enjoy. Be confident. Listen to the customer's requirements. Have presence and authority.

Well I live in California ($541 Billion in debt) and I found it literally near impossible to get a job.
I just landed one, but that was via a connection. Seems like nowadays, at least right now, you need a reliable reference from a friend who works for the company.
    Especially in Cali.
With that said, I'd try CraigsList.com for your area. It's not a promise, but it's free advertising for jobs and you never know what will come up.
    Good luck.
My own definition of 'us': A person who becomes a bit more aware of certain aspects of life sooner than others, enabling them to have attributes that appear to make them 'different' when compared to the majority of today's society.

    1) What are you studying?

    and

    2) Is there a way you can find a job on your college campus? If not, ask a teacher for help (to refer you to someone).

It can be tough when you're low on money, leaves you vulnerable. Try your best to get ANY job for now, then you can start looking for a better job. Don't stay too long in a crappy job, cos you'll get stuck there (*points to self*) though.

    1. I prefer not to say, but I will say it is mostly in the realm of the legal system but there are options to help the disabled as well. It gives me multiple options on what I would like to do. So I am not stuck just doing one thing.

    2. All jobs on campus are through financial aid. You have to prove such and such as well. I applied for Fall so maybe then. By the time I finish about 75% of my degree I can start looking for jobs I can do to get to know my field. Trust me I won't get stuck. I am 50% done now.

well what i can tell about this, is always keep near ppl like you, it is always like this you will find jobs, or that you will proposed things that are more likely to suit you, i always got my jobs like this, by meeting ppl around me , jobs i can find are all around computering, i think it is in the only area who are not too much in crisis currently =) but it is a bit how minute recording said, material needs are all about social relations, if you have social relation with customer in a company, you get monney, if you have other relation with other ppl you get something else, the most important is to be somekind of usefull for someone, it can even be usefull energetically or helping around, and being surrounded by ppl like you or with common ideas/objective, it is always like this that you will find jobs that suit you the best, or occupation that will bring ppl 'in debt' to you, even if it is not for monney like contract in a company, depend a bit of the ppl who are around you and what you can do for them

it is not specially by asking around, but more getting known for being able and willing to do something by ppl around you, and if they ever need something, you'll get an opportunity maybe, but well if you are at school or don't know lot of ppl who works in an area you can apply, it will not lead you very far =)
