I have no competition........

It's not part of my reality, for I do not believe "competition" is anything to strive for or be positive about.

Websters defines competition as:
1) a competing: rivalry, esp. in business. 2) a contest :match

No one "matches" me, just as no one "matches" you. We are all individuals. Why these stoic games of professional sports, still interest people is beyond me. This is especially true, when those think it through.......there is only so much "money" in the world....do you really think it's appropriate to pay those that throw/kick a football, baseball, basketball, etc. an excess of a million dollars a year? What do these professional athletes even actors, really contribut to your life? While most of us are struggling to raise our kids, keep a roof over our head, etc. LMFAO! When you support this activity (going to games, etc) you are paying for their million dollar salary. When you do that you're denying the equitable distribution of funds to our teachers, law enforcement, paramedics, fire fighters, social workers etc. Sure, you can say these are our governmental agencies. But isn't this a democratic governmnent? If we refuse to buy into these mindless "sport" activities as spectators, perhaps the ball will then be swayed where it is needed and appreciated the most, i.e. our young, safety, etc. It takes a ripple effect of change to bring down even the most stable of sand castles.

Any thoughts? "buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks".............for many cannot even afford them with the price of the tickets to such events.

Competetion is such a waste. We spend millions of dollars a year in keeping this illness alive (through organized sports, Olympics etc. all in the quest for "greatness"), LMFAO! while our schools are laying off teachers even today.

Tha antithesis of "competetion" is "unity".....IMO, it's time this whole planet recognizes that as its only salvation. If it doesn't I'll be happy to see it end......for the human ego through competetion, is so unjust that it once again places "humans" in the "dark age".......where it was necessary to survive. Today, it is the exact opposite, most likely our demise.

I have never liked sports my whole life and don't watch them. Never understood the importance except to keep us divided. Always equated sports to war for some reason. Do not like competition but society seems to thrive on it.

perhaps because it speaks to our "ancestral" voice of the monkeys........check out Drakke's thread about a "monkey in your trunk"...LOL! It's quite appropriate, IMO, of people's need for winning/losing as they sit their asses on a bench paying for these people's salaries, while others that truly matter in this world (teachers, paramedics, EMT's, fire-fighters, law enforcement, police officers, etc......continue to see more and more pay cuts).

This is a further reason to join together.

Joy is something that exists without expectation of a win. Joy is acceptance for flow of life without the need for distraction, stimulation, pumping of adrenaline. Those things are all mania that needs feuling -eh & feuding to it seems.

Thanks.....I agree. Why are we pumping more fuel into this adrenaline pump that accomplishes nothing? So the Laker's won.......big fricken deal. What did they win? A championship. A championship based on what? Being able to throw a ball into a hoop better than the "other team." Sure, brillant, folks.......and they just made a million dollars+ doing it, while the majority of us have both parents working to secure a living and are having problems affording day care. Even their schools are being impacted with teacher lay-offs, increased class sizes (making it more difficult for the teacher to give their best), all the while their BA or Master's degree is bringing in @ 45,000, if lucky, and to those still employed.

This is an outrage! But change happens in baby steps, remember that.

I do agree that we make way too big a deal out of celebrities...

But this universe has unlimited abundance. Don't worry about what other people are getting, allow them to live, and you will be a part of the aforementioned abundance. Keep focusing on what's wrong with what other people have and you will not.

There is a thing with my nieces soccer league. They play every weekend and never keep score. They play for an hour or more and work as a team and make scores but no one official keeps score and they all win at the end. They have joy and improve themsleves and not one has to lose. It's about being together and having fun. They learn that they are all valuable players and are each important alone and to eachother and the gals on the other teams. There is no one star. They are all stars. And I have seen these girls care more about eachother and show concern when one gets hurt. It's cuz the importance is on the fun and not the winning.

No, you didn't "answer that." Yes, "I think joy and fun have value", but there is no direct correlation between them and competition. One can have joy and value without competition I was just asking why you benefited from it (or now "enjoy" it so much)......it's nothing to be shameful of man, there are lots like you that can be rehabilitated after a certain amount of time....... Sports are not just about sport anymore. They're also about lots of money. And I mean money coming from commercials. The most expensive commercial time is during sport events. And then sportspeople get into commercial themselves to sell more stuff and make more money. I find it that in The States there's almost a social pressure to be a sports fan. When all of this mania started, sportspeople or actors were poor and did this a passion, hobby and not as a mean to make money. Now they are among the richest people on the planet. The quality of their work is going down but the retribution goes up (at least for actors). Kids wanna be like them, and not only for passion for sports but to get money and fame. Sports are great but the bussines is lame.

Convenient... But alright, competition is fun for a lot of reasons, the biggest reason is that it inspires you to be better in a way that nothing else can. And competition plays a part in much more than just sports. But another thing that makes sports (any game really), specifically, fun is that they are very pure and honest. Everyone involved brings themselves, nothing else, and they do the best they can with it. The important part isn't winning or losing, but being as exceptional as you can be.

Besides, competition is natural... take a bunch of kids, with absolutely no outside influence, they will compete. Not because they want to belittle anyone else, but because it's fun. They want to find out what they're capable of in relation to the rest of creation.

Maybe they suck at soccer, but they're good at chess, or making people laugh, or whatever. Measuring yourself against the world is how you find out who you are. If you don't like the word competition then call it something else... but either way, without it you end up with the kind of forced equality mentality that drove all of the oppressive communist societies, most of which are dead thank god.
