Culture is not your friend, it's an impediment to understanding what's going on. That's why to my mind the word cult and the word culture have a direct relationship to each other. Culture is a cult and if you feel revulsion at the thought of somebody offering to the great carrot, just notice that your own culture is an extremely repressive cult that leads to all kinds of humiliation and degradation, and automatic and unquestioned and unthinking behaviour.

I mean the American family is what keeps American psychotherapy alive and well. This is a cauldron for the production of neurosis.

Part of what psychedelics do, is they decondition you from cultural values. This is what makes it such a political hot potato, since all culture is a kind of congame, the most dangerous candy you can hand out is candy that makes people start questioning the rules of the game.

hehe yes even marketting as something cultic in the end =) cult and culture share the same ethymological root =) somewhere it is like spirituality in general it should be internal and not being made to involve other ppl, or to be subversive, and now cultures and specially national one are more made to manipulate ppl than anything else =) and yes psychelic drugs can have this effect to challenge all those ideology and premade idea about society =)

Terence McKenna believed that human consciousness itself is a function of the psychedelic experience, specifically of the psilocybin mushroom. He believes that one day an ape took a shroom and became a human, because cognition appeared. Terence says that what makes us human is the psychedelic experience. It is interesting to note how mushroom rings appear after a lightening storm. I suspect that psilocybin may have some alien material in it.

As for culture, yes I agree that it's a form of civilizing people to cooperate to meet the needs of the specific group. On a small scale, our natural instincts can be preserved, but if we are under a culture which does not have the individual's best interest at heart, corruption occurs. If we are going to talk about the positive features of civilization, let's remember that they are only serviceable for 10% of any given population, in other words, the property-owning elite. For everybody else, civilization is an awful deal. It turns you into a serf or a slave, into the human sacrifice.

Terence McKenna had a brilliant grasp on many aspects of being human and life on this earth (timewave zero) but believe since his whole focus was on the hallucinogenic experience from the drugs that he tends to lead many astray. Drugs can open the door but you don't need them to experience the full spiritual realm. The drugless experience is the best in my opinion!

Personally I prefer the natural approach to spiritual growth, one that does not involve in using illicit drugs.

We are indeed led by the least amongst us; however, I wouldn't want to be led by McKenna, despite his good ideas.

If people were raised in love, to love and be beloved, there would be fewer perversions. Drug use can become another fetishized perversion. I've heard men of McKenna's generation repeatedly crow about their drug experiences like they'd ingested manna and became enlightened in a one-and-done fashion. Some of them seem really stuck.

I also prefer the drugless way. It's an organic unfolding of spirit.

Yeah sad. It is really escapism and it is proven that when you start taking drugs it stunts your emotional growth. So if you start taking drugs at 13 or so you could remain a teenager emotionally till you die.

I beg to differ. The psychedelic experience opens the doors of perception, even if it's only a brief glimpse, you can stare into the void of reality that being sober will never allow you to see into. Mushrooms are what accelerated my empathic abilities and further progressed my desire to obtain a higher level of spiritual growth. I can honestly say that the few times i have taken mushrooms each time it was some of the most profound and uplifting experiences i have ever EVER felt. I could see and communicate with the spiritual nature of existence all around me to a degree that could be described as mythological. Now anyone can take a drug and get nothing from it, just like anyone can receive a million dollars and blow it without doing anything productive. Its all based on individuals and what they need to learn in order to progress.

Ofcorse, only those who have experience mushrooms can really have a valid opinion on the subject.

The German chancellor announced a few days ago that Germany's attempt to achieve multiculturalism has failed. Combining german and turkish ideologies proofed to be far more difficult than anticipated because: "...culture is an extremely repressive cult that leads to all kinds of humiliation and degradation, and automatic and unquestioned and unthinking behaviour."; the german as well as turkish culture is guilty of that, and those two are just an example of what is happining between cultures everywhere. I wonder if the friction between cultures will increase, or if it will subside as we go along, blending it all together.

I have done them in the past (mushrooms included) and still would like to say that you don't need a filter to be connected to the spiritual realm. You can have a direct connection.

Sure you can walk along your path at a turtle pace but if during one long night you find that someone has left a ultra faster than light motorbike along side the road with just enough gas to last a few hours, you wouldnt take it? I would. Quite honestly, we come across what we need to develop spirituality, be it mushrooms or forums. Everyone gets what they need, so for anyone to say what anyone else needs for growth is not becoming of a seeker. We can only say what is right for ourselves and everyone else must find the ingredients to their own enlightenment on their own as well, something i picked up from one of my mushrooms trips.

german never been good with culture anyway (kidding ;-))

but otherwise there are lot of factor it play in this kind of social situation, and there will always be friction possible between two ppl anyway, and strong ideology doesn't really help to cohabit with other ppl =) even political idea difference can create tension, or social level difference , history etc

I sense a slight bit of contempt in your tone of typing. I understand your opinions and appreciate it but you are from a generation that is no longer relevant to the future of humanity, as blunt as it sounds i am being honest. You have already broken past the bonds of your conditioning but many my age and younger have not and will never be able to without some sort of enhanced spiritual experience usually aquired through psychedelics. It's true because i have seen the transition in people after taking mushrooms, it wakes people up.
