My supervisor said "Roger, could you design a Ray Gun like Buck Rogers used?"
"Give me two weeks to develop possibilities." I replied.
My thought was to raise the vibration of animal tissue 400 hz
(cycles per second) and the "tissue" becomes combustible.
The project additional requirements: electronic, mechanical,
and portable. I was given the project.
As the designer the biggest problems to the gun's design were:
to have the vibrating energy a narrow enough adjustable
beam to effect only one person.
the weight of the energy source.
 beam spread affected effective distance
The development of the Lazier and my designing the
mechanism causing it to "stutter" [vibrate] at much
higher rate than 400 hz solved problems 1, 3, 4, and 5.
The power source remained the big block to the guns
development. The project was shelved, and I left to
teach Art in a small Michigan K th 12 school.

would not be a problem if
Pryo-kinetics could have been used
but in 1956 that concept was a no, no.
