I mean, I always flounder between is this metaphysical awareness or is it an attack on ones whole sense of reality.
I'm not sure, but the world talks to you and so without pushing an opinion the juries out, full circle, just watching.
In many ways forums are for debating but I prefer viewing things and sharing the things that jump out, but I do like to think about differing perspectives.
Though there is certainly a sense that some people see it and others do not, I'm not sure why.

UFO Crashes at Spitzbergen, Norway, 1946 & 1952
In the early 1950s, rumors began circulating that a crashed UFO had been recovered on the Norwegian-owned island of Spitzbergen., or Spitsbergen, is one of a group of islands called Svalbard, which have been Norwegian possessions since the 1920s. The islands lie over 500 miles north of Norway, inside the Arctic Circle. The few thousand inhabitants of the island were once mostly coal miners, but in recent years an increase in tourism due to the natural beauty of the islands has opened up other areas of income for them.
There are actually two separate UFO crash stories about Spitzbergen. The first is that a crashed UFO and alien bodies were discovered there in May, 1946. The story goes that in August of 1946 retired (General James H. Doolittle) made a visit to Spitzbergen to see the craft while on a trip to Sweden for his employer, the Shell Oil Company. Some sources say he arranged for it to be brought to the U.S. for study.
The 1952 Spitzbergen crash story first appeared in the German newspaper “Saarbrücker Zeitung” in June 1952. The article, entitled "Auf Spitzbergen landete Fliegende Untertasse", was soon picked up by several other German newspapers, with many of them citing “The Stuttgarter Tagerblatt” as the original source. The story was that jets of the Norwegian Air Force spotted a crashed UFO while flying over Spitzbergen on maneuvers. The craft was disc-shaped with a series of jets around the rim of the disc to make it spin. According to the first article about the crash, the craft was an unmanned, remote-controlled vehicle with Russian writing on the controls, but as the story was embroidered with each retelling, it soon acquired seven alien crewmen who were burned to death in the crash.
1946 Spitzbergen UFO Crash
This version is said to have been reported briefly by journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, and to have been immediately pulled from the news media by the U.S. military. It has been said that "according to former sailors who were serving on the battleship U.S.S. Alabama at the time, the UFO was brought to the U.S. on that vessel directly from Spitzbergen." The 1946 case, more than anything else, is memorable for its characters. The legend goes something like this; In 1946, General James H. Doolittle was sent to Sweden by the Shell Oil Company, supposedly to investigate the mystery of the "Ghost Rockets." Why an oil company would investigate UFOs is beyond common understanding, unless they felt this could strengthen their profits somehow.
The 1946 story is a mixture of stories as told by various sources. General Doolittle went to Sweden for the Shell Oil Company in 1946, and he was apparently asked to investigate the phenomenon of "Ghost Rockets" while on this trip. Whether he went to Spitzbergen during this trip is unverifiable. Several sources say that Dorothy Kilgallen claimed to have been told by someone high in the British government (Possibly Lord Mountbatten.) that a crashed UFO had been recovered and was being studied by the British and U.S. governments. However, many of the sources make no mention of Spitzbergen, insinuating instead that Britain itself was the crash site. Kilgallen, although she is perhaps best known today for being a panelist on the TV game show "What's My Line?" in the 1950s and 1960s, was a well-known journalist who not only wrote a "gossip column", but also covered hard news stories. She covered the Lindbergh kidnapping and in the 1950s covered the Sam Sheppard murder trial. She died of a drugs & alcohol overdose under what some said were (mysterious circumstances) after interviewing Jack Ruby about the Kennedy assassination in 1965. Her item about a UFO crash is said to have appeared in “The Los Angeles Examiner”. In addition to being a game show regular, Kilgallen also was a journalist of a sort, having written "gossip columns," but she also was well known for covering hard current events. She had covered the headline grabbing Lindbergh kidnapping story. In the 1950s, she had covered one of the top stories of her time, the Sam Sheppard murder trial.
Her last real claim to fame was in the 1960s when she got an interview with Lee Harvey Oswald killer Jack Ruby. This interview was carried by the "Los Angeles Examiner." She told friends that she had information that would "break the case wide open." On 8th November, 1965, Dorothy Kilgallen, was found dead in her New York apartment. She was fully dressed and sitting upright in her bed. The police reported that she had died from taking a cocktail of alcohol and barbiturates. The notes of her interview with Ruby and the article she was writing on the case had disappeared. Luckily, she had given a friend a draft of her interview. Kilgallen was probably fearful for her own life, since several other writers who had worked on the Oswald / Ruby case had died under "unusual circumstances." Kilgallen's reputation and notoriety was the only thing that kept the weak story of the Spitzbergen crash of 1946 alive. The last hope of further research into the Norwegian crash died along with her, as her sources were never verified.
Somehow, he supposedly wound up in Spitzbergen. There are a number of Internet sites which claim that there was a short lived article published in America of a UFO crash in the Norwegian city about this time. Some people claim to have seen the article. The really odd thing about the tale of this case is the question must be asked what does Doolittle have to do with UFOs or this story, since he is only mentioned as being in the area and that is the end of his involvement.
The only redeeming part of this particular case is that it was reported by Dorothy Kilgallen, celebrity for her years appearing on the "What's My Line?" TV game show. She claimed that someone in the upper echelon of the British government informed her that a UFO had crashed near Spitzbergen, and was under investigation by the British and American military. Supposedly, this informant was Lord Mountbatten.
Some investigators claim that since no mention of the name Spitzbergen was found in the reports that the location's mention was to cover up a crash in Great Britain. A crash in Great Britain during the same time period has no basis in fact either.

The puzzle finally solved? - "Silvery disc with dome of plexiglass and 46 jets on the rim" - Soviet origin?
Narvik, mid-June.
Norwegian jet planes had just started this year's summer maneuvers over Spitsbergen. A squadron of six planes were approaching, at maximum speed, the Nordaustlandet, where units of the supposed opponent had been reported. The jets had just crossed over the Hinlopen Straits when crackling and rustling noises could be heard on all ear phones and radio receivers. Radio contact among the jets was no longer possible; all means of communication between the jets seemed to be out of order. The radar reading, which had been showing "white" since from Narvik, was now on "red". This indicated an alert, the approach of a metallic alien object equipped with a radio direction finder that had a different frequency from that of the fighters.
Nevertheless, the highly experienced pilots were able to communicate with each other by means of circling and diving, so that each of them was aware of circling and diving, so that each of them was aware of their common situation, each one searching the horizon with the utmost attention. The six fighters circled for some time not finding anything that was out of the ordinary.
By chance, Air Captain Olaf Larsen happened to look down. Immediately he started to dive, followed by his squadron. On the white snowy landscape, the crusty surface of which had an icy glitter, there was a metallic, glittering circular disc of between 40 and 50 meters diameter, which was even brighter than icy snow. Between some wires and a tangle of supporting struts in the middle, the remains of an apparently partly destroyed cockpit protruded. While circling for 60 minutes, the jet pilots could neither detect any sign of life nor determine the origin or type of the vehicle. Finally, they took course for Narvik in order to report their strange findings.
Just a few hours later, five big flying boats, equipped with landing skis, took off for the place of discovery. They landed safely next to the bluish steel disc, which was sitting in a bed of snow and ice of more than one meter's depth.
"Undoubtedly one of the infamous flying saucers", claimed Dr. Norsel, a Norwegian rocket specialist, who had insisted on joining the flight. He also established the reason why all means of communication of the fighter planes had broken down on entering the zone of the landing spot, and why the radar equipment had signaled the alarm: a radio direction finder equipped with a plutonium core was undamaged and transmitting on all wave lengths at a frequency of 934 Hertz, which is not known by any country.
A precise inspection of the remote-controlled flying disc that landed on the Nordaustlandet of Spitsbergen due to interference problems, led to the following indisputable information.
1. The flying object, which has a diameter of 48,88 meters and slanting sides, is round and was unmanned.
2. The circular steel object, is made out of an unknown metal compound, resembles a silver disc. After ignition, 46 automatic jets, located at equal distances on the outer ring, rotate the disc around a plexiglassed center ball, that contains measuring and control devices for remote control.
3. The measuring instruments (gauges) have Russian symbols.
4. The action radius of the disc seems to be more than 30.000 km, and the altitude over 160 km.
5. The flying object, which resembles one of the legendary "flying saucers", has sufficient room for high explosive bombs, possibly nuclear bombs.
The Norwegian specialists assumed that the disc had started from the Soviet Union and had gone down over Spitsbergen due to a mistake in transmitting or receiving, being incapacitated because of the hard landing. The strange, remote-controlled, unmanned jet plane will be brought to Narvik on board a ship for further investigation. After hearing of the description of the disc, the German V-weapon designer Riedel stated: "That's a typical V-7 on whose serial production I have worked myself".
From a story in Flying Saucers - Serious Business, citing a “Stuttgarter Tagerblatt” article as his source. He also mentioned that he had written to a member of the Norwegian Board of Inquiry that had investigated the case and, four months later had received the following reply:
“I regret that it is impossible for me to respond to your questions at this time. “
What do we make of these stories? (Ole Jonny Brænne, of UFO Norway), says that his investigation shows that the second story must be a hoax. He says that the Norwegian Air Force had no jets in 1952 that could have been flying over Spitzbergen. He also went though the 1952 files of the island's own newspaper, “Svalbardposten” and was unable to find even the slightest mention of the story, likewise for Norwegian newspapers of that year. He was also unable verify that there was ever a newspaper called “The Stuttgarter Tagerblatt”.
The later German newspaper stories seem to have confused the Spitzbergen story with another purported UFO crash that was supposed to have occured on the North Sea Island of Helgoland (Heligoland), a German possession.
As for the tantalizing 1946 story, its origins seem to be a mystery. Who can say that there isn't a grain of truth in it?

The Earth's magnetic field is changing at an increasing rate, throwing off airports and altering the aurora borealis -- and its effect on ordinary compasses could mean the difference between homeward bound and hopelessly lost.
Earth’s northernmost magnetic point -- or magnetic north -- is distinct from its geographic North Pole, and scientists have long known that the magnetic poles are on the move.
But the magnetic poles have been moving faster lately, sliding towards Siberia at 34 miles per year at a speed that's accelerated 36 percent over the last 10 years, according to the United States Geological Survey, or USGS.
Since compasses rely on magnetic north to point you in the right way up the trail, the average $2-dollar model could very well point you in the wrong direction. Depending on location and journey length, unaware hikers or boaters could find themselves hundreds of miles off course if they don’t calibrate for the shift, experts said.
“At Washington D.C., the compass points 10 degrees to the west of true north," Jeffrey Love, USGS advisor for geomagnetic research, told FoxNews.com. "And this is increasing at Washington at a rate of about 1/10 of a degree per year.”

But don't touch that calibration dial just yet: The accuracy of compasses fluctuates with the field, he said, meaning compasses are more or less accurate depending on where you use them.
“It's different at different places on the earth,” Love said.
The magnetic shift is costing the aviation and marine industries millions of dollars to upgrade navigational systems and charts, Florida's Sun Sentinel reported.
"You could end up a few miles off or a couple hundred miles off, depending how far you're going," Matthew Brock, a technician with Lauderdale Speedometer and Compass, a Fort Lauderdale company that repairs compasses, told the paper.
Luckily for the younger generation, modern GPS technology is able to account and adjust for magnetic north’s deviation, also called magnetic declination. And scientists reassure the general public that the average individual will most likely not be affected at all by the shift in the magnetic field.
But hikers should be aware: The shift adds up to a one-degree difference in compass direction every ten years, Love said.
A spokesman for the National Park Service says cartographers aren’t scrambling to update their maps any time soon.
“We haven’t issued any warnings to hikers, and we don’t really plan to do that,” Jeffrey Olson, a representative for the National Park Service, told FoxNews.com. “Many or most trail guides will provide hikers with the location of the pole, and then they can feed those coordinates into any GIS.” A Geographic Information System is anything that works with location data. “That will help them find their way back.”
There are other effects to the roaming pole as well: Americans will be less likely to see the aurora borealis, for example.
“As the pole of the magnetic field migrates towards Siberia, the latitude that we observe the aurora borealis will increase for America,” Love told FoxNews.com. “It’s easier to see at higher latitudes. The optimal spot right now to see it is Fairbanks, Alaska, but it will slowly move north from there.”
And there have been some inconveniences for the Federal Aviation Administration, too. Airports across the country have repainted their runways so as to be more precise in terms of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates, and many are planning to adjust in the future.
The polar shift is directly related to the movement of Earth’s magnetic field, which in turn, is related to the movement of Earth’s liquid iron core. The core is in a constant state of convection, or the transfer of heat within fluids. Since the core is convecting, it produces what Love referred to as a “naturally occurring electrical conductor.” And with electric current comes the magnetic field.
Fluctuations in the magnetic field have occurred for hundreds of thousands of years, so the shifting pole doesn’t exactly worry scientists. Sometimes the movement is slow, sometimes fast. The rapidity of the change has to do with the amount of activity going on in the earth’s core. But over time, the axel pole and the magnetic pole eventually equal one another.
“It’s a mathematical construct,” John Tarduno, professor of geophysics at the University of Rochester, told FoxNews.com. “The magnetic field is calculated over the entire planet. So when we think of the pole moving a large amount, we’re really talking about the magnetic field changing on a time scale. It’s true that that pole will wander around the true axis pole. But over thousands of years, the axel pole and magnetic pole will average to be in the same location.”
That's small consolation for someone looking to find their way home with a compass, of course.
Add to the ever evolving nature of Earth’s magnetism the fact that the overall magnetic field has been decreasing as well. Scientists have only been able to measure the intensity of the field since the 1830s, but ever since then, its strength has been on the decline, having decreased by about 10% since it was first measured. MOTUEKA, New Zealand ― As I write this, I am sipping an iced tea and overlooking a beautiful river valley, writing with a borrowed laptop. Just a few days ago, this bliss seemed very far away.
I was in Christchurch for the fourth meeting of the U.S.-New Zealand Partnership, a group that looks at different aspects of the bilateral relationship. The conference attendees had been scattered across the city in 20 different group lunches, and eight of us had just sat down in the faculty club dining room at Canterbury University. I had taken one bite of salmon when suddenly I was rocked out of my chair, all the tableware crashed to the floor, paintings fell, and a six-inch crack opened in the wall.
"Under the table!" one of the Kiwis yelled and we scrambled before the shaking stopped a few seconds later. We crawled out and immediately went outside to the lawn ― but not before I grabbed my plate of salmon and glass of good New Zealand sauvignon blanc. "Take it. It may be a long time before you eat again," the waitress said. Smart lady. We ate al fresco on the lawn, endured the first of many aftershocks, almost more terrifying because you know they are coming and with everything weakened, even more walls can come tumbling down.
Power was down, water lines were spewing water in the streets, which had buckled in many spots. But still, since the news was reporting the Richter scale of this quake to be 6.3, we figured it would be much less damage than a September quake, which was 7.1. How wrong we were! Earthquake lesson: It is not just the score on the Richter scale that determines the severity of quake damage but its "acceleration" rate ― how close to the surface is it. This was very close and very damaging.
It was apparent that we were not going to be picked up and returned to our conference. So we decided to walk back into town, a journey ― in suit and uncomfortable shoes ― of about four miles. (I realize now that I have little to complain about considering the death and destruction wrought by this quake — at press time, the death toll had risen to 103.)
One of our group was former New Zealand Prime Minister James Bolger, who was recognized all along the road. Another in our group was just-retired U.S. Senator Evan Bayh. He knew his wife had been on the 13th floor of our hotel and was worried about her. As it turned out, she was able to get out of the building, but had walked only a short distance when a wall fell on a woman only a few feet in front of her, crushing and killing her. Susan was saved in part by another tourist who pushed her out of the way.
When we reached downtown we found we were blocked from entering the city center where our hotel was located. So we walked half a block to the Christchurch Art Gallery where Civil Defense was already gathered and a command post had been set up. We could see down the streets into the city center, and it was obvious this was a truly horrific event. Buildings had collapsed, rubble completely filled the streets, fires were sprouting everywhere, people were walking around dazed, and more and more ambulances, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles kept racing past. The civil defense personnel confirmed to PM Bolger that this was a much, much more catastrophic event than the last quake.
Meanwhile, as we were standing around at the art gallery, who should walk by but Bolger's former trade minister, Philip Burdon, walking back from a dentist appointment. After a chat with Bolger, Burdon invited us all back to his flat until we could get this "all tidied up" ― which I discovered is a favorite Kiwi understatement.
As we were walking back, Burdon asked what I was going to do and added that he was going to head for his “country bungalow” in South Canterbury. I mentioned that I was supposed to have dinner in Christchurch that evening with John and Ro Acland, two old friends of mine. "John and Ro?" he said with familiarity. "Well, you will just have to drive down with me to Geraldine and we will all have dinner together tonight down there since they can't get to Christchurch."
A locksmith let us in to Burdon's apartment, since his electronic key was not going to work. The building was sound, but his fifth-floor residence looked like a tornado had swept through: every dish was out of cupboards and shelves and smashed on the floor, every painting was off the wall, every lamp was overturned, every piano photo and knick knack was shattered on the floor. Glass, rubble, dust, plaster everywhere. No place to sit or stay here.
So we piled into his car and headed to the airport’s Antarctic Center, where we were told our conference attendees were being assembled, the Americans for evacuation on a U.S. military plane to Wellington. This is the jumping-off point for Antarctica, so there are U.S. military planes on the field all summer, shuttling to and from the ice. Many didn't have their passports, so they were being issued temporary documents to return to the States. The chaos there was somewhat organized, but mostly you could just see small groups of people sitting quietly on the floor, still looking shocked.
Burdon and I left the others there and headed to Geraldine in his Jaguar; not a bad rescue vehicle, I must say! We stopped at his mushroom growing and processing factory on the outskirts of Christchurch (Philip owns the largest food processing conglomerate in New Zealand). No damage there, and ― remarkably ― the next day 80 percent of the work force showed up. We took back roads to Geraldine, about 110 miles southwest of Christchurch. The main highway was clogged with traffic, most petrol stations were out of gas or had lines several blocks long, and every motel and B&B was filled even as far away as Geraldine.
We reached his "little" country estate, which had been founded by his father nearly 80 years ago. I was able to settle into quarters in the guest house, shower and get clean, but had no other clothes, of course, at this point. We headed off to the Aclands’ farm about 20 minutes away and were warmly greeted by Ro and John. I am not a scotch drinker, but a stiff shot of whiskey seemed very much in order that night. Philip and John grew up just these few miles apart on their families' respective farms, and of course were fast friends as youngsters and went to same prep school. But Philip met Ro Acland before John did; they were both exchange students in the same year in Minnesota, so they had traveled together to the United States by ship. What a small world!
As always there was a diversity of guests at the Aclands for dinner, including an Argentine mega-dairy farmer. Despite the lively discussion on politics and trade, both Philip and I were fairly exhausted (I wonder why?) and returned right after dinner to his place. With a promise to "tidy this all up" in the morning we were off to bed.
Wednesday morning, Burdon was on the phone, calling his assistant in Wellington to confirm that the only flight north that could be booked would be 24 hours later from Duneidin (everyone was fleeing Christchurch). So then there was a call to John Hutton here in Motueka, and he agreed to drive down and meet me at the Antarctic Center. Burdon had to go into town to pick up his wife flying in from Wellington; no trouble getting a flight into Christchurch. Another call went to the conference organizers to see if anyone knew what would happen with our luggage still trapped in the hotel, closed and off-limits to everyone. Answer: we really don't know. So back we went to Christchurch.
After John arrived, we started the long five-hour drive back to Motueka. For John, it was 10 hours of driving, but for me it was a transition from chaos and uncertainty to calm and beauty. At last I was reunited with telecommunications, borrowing one of their laptops and a cord to recharge my phone.
Today, I went into town to get some underwear and trousers to keep me in clean clothes until I return home on Saturday. There was an email message from the conference organizers asking us for a list of items that were left behind in our hotel rooms. Judging from the scope of the disaster and the complexity of the search and rescue operations, it is likely to be days or even weeks before we are able to recover what was left behind. But when I look at the suffering of those remaining in Christchurch, such concerns seem petty indeed.
I am safe, well and comfortable now, and I realize that I was extraordinarily lucky. Not to be lost in my tale are those who were affected severely by the earthquake ― those who perished, those who lost loved ones or saw their homes in ruin. I have been coming to New Zealand for years, and the earthquake’s aftermath confirmed once again the generosity of spirit among Kiwis. That spirit and the resolute determination to get “all tidied up” will help them recover from this tragedy.

Below is a graph showing how the number of all magnitude earthquakes has grown over recent years. Although we are primarily concerned with long term trends for larger magnitude earthquakes in this report, it is worth noting the trend as it applies to all earthquakes - whether large or small, over a 30 years period or so from the mid-1970s. However, this trend needs to be understood in relation to the increase in seismographs. Certainly, in the last 25 years, more lower intensity earthquakes have been noticed because of a general increase in the number of seismograph stations across the world and improved global communications. This increase has helped seismological centres to locate many small earthquakes which were undetected in earlier decades. Therefore, an upward trend is not unexpected in the graph, although the rise in the number of large earthquakes will be of more significance to our assessment of the trend. By limiting the range of earthquakes being counted in this report to magnitude 7 or above, it means these earthquakes can easily be identified by a limited number of seismographs, and we have ensured that any increase in frequency for these larger earthquakes cannot be down to the increase in overall detection rates in this 25-year period, as all these larger earthquakes are able to be easily detected with fewer seismograph stations.
Future Trends
Past performance cannot necessarily be taken as a clear indication of future trends (unfortunately many scientists tend to assume too often that it is, by simply projecting forward on an existing trend, without considering other factors) so we must be careful how past events are interpreted. However, it is clear we are currently living in a time when earthquake frequency has increased, it will be interesting to see if the immediate future maintains this trend.

^^ I'd like to see the graph continue till 2010/2011.. Now that would be interesting.
The graph does remind me of the trend in precious metals over the last decade...
(Interestingly the graph begins in the early seventies, the same period that the dollar was taken off the gold standard.. Which Calleman mentions as a significant change in energetic frequency which led to the move to a completely abstract fiat monetary system..
