i agree with the 2nd game being lame..
its nothing compared to the first one..
overall tho i think kingdom hearts is a nice game with a touching story line..though most wont get that cos of the disney characters helping along.
Has anyone here played "Kingdom Hearts" for Playstation 2 and found it to be... spiritually stimulating on some level? I think it's a very interesting game, with some beautiful imagery in it. Square has been putting spiritual themes from a variety of sources in their games for years, with the Final Fantasy and Xenogears games being the best-known examples of the bunch. For "Kingdom Hearts," the Square team partnered with Disney to create an epic, "Final Fantasy"-style game with a slightly more whimsical tone.
But it's also a very interesting game for adults. There's a lot there, dealing with the nature of the human heart. "Awakening" seems to be the keynote theme of the series, with each character's call to adventure taking place on a mysterious stained-glass platform called "The Station of Awakening." The second game also seems to touch on the idea of having a 'higher self,' and losing one's temporal self in order to experience reunion with one's "true self." It's not very clear, and the second game is generally pretty lame imho (most would disagree), but it's there if you read between the lines.
So has anyone else enjoyed these games?

Whew, I'm not the only one to recognize that the 2nd game failed to live up to its full potential. Did you play "Chain of Memories?" If you did, then I think the 2nd game becomes an even bigger disappointment, because all of the plot elements that were developed in "Chain of Memories" were basically dropped or minimized in KH2.
As far as the Disney characters go, I had my reservations, but I think the formula works nicely. Some of Walt Disney's works were pretty esoteric, so it's not out of place to see Mickey Mouse and other classic Disney characters in a more epic storyline. And who can argue with battling Chernabog, the demon from 'Fantasia?' That was great!

I think Final Fantasy VII was one of the things that kick started my spiritual path, or it at least let me knw that other people think the way I do. Best Game ever created.
