I want to be moderator

The reason I want to moderate is as much to moderate myself as everyone else, I feel it will give me a better sense of discipline which I badly need, and a greater sense of focus and commitment to this forum like in contributing more useful threads (eventhough I posted an interesting one on channeling the other day). So it's a personal challenge to see how fair I can be, and also to change the dynamic of my relationships here and to start over , or something like that.

I accept it Leila because it's so true with me, like the way I treated you on the american allegience thread was ridiculously rude and I am truely sorry for that, that was just plain ignorant and childlike.

well thats actually a valid reason and seeming very sincere.

idk, maybe i am...just thinking on it quickly...perhaps you would rise to the challenge, and perhaps it would be ok and i am looking at whats too obvious. idk.....it has very little to do with anything youve said to me specifically...more about the way you have interacted with alot of people.

perhaps you should start with the self moderating for a month or two...and then see later. i think that theres usually need for more moderators, so probably you could try again.

as for the fresh start that sounds good...

I wasn't just being flip when I said I thought SAM would make a good mod, I think it would be good for him and IS. I remember when you first got here SAM lol I remember calling you doubting Thomas...you have grown so much. There are phases in growth and things sometimes negatives have to bubble up so they can be recognized and let go. I see how SAM has taken time today to rethink how his choices have deeply affected others. I have faith in SAM!

I have to jump in and say this from experience (I am one of two administrators of SciFake.com and a few others) moderating is not about discipline, it’s about judgment and decisions made without previous prejudice, not an easy thing, to let things remain even if you don’t like them, If you water down your forum by removing all conflicts or do not allow discussions to heat a bit, you are actually quelling growth of the site. The best advice I will give to you is don’t over moderate, it’s the quickest forum killer there is.

So SAM, You're actually one of the big reasons I went from a poster to a lurker about a year ago. We got into a scuff in a thread about sex. It turned into a completely unproductive slamming match with no substance. What really got me down was that it was on a brand new member's thread. And it made me sad for her to have to deal with all that bologna. So, I kinda took a back seat on IS, lest you decide to shove your claws into one of my postings.

But, when this thread opens up to a poll, I will vote yes for you. Over the past year, I've seen the tone of your posts change, and I think you are genuinely committed to IS.

And, It takes all kinds. Right? You're a very opinionated Catholic who isn't afraid to let his feelings be known. I respect that. I'm a very opinionated vegan who isn't afraid to let his feelings be known.

All I would ask would be that you take it easy on the newly Indigo'd. Play nice with them. We're a sensitive breed.

I agree that it takes all types because it's good for a forums "truth" and not to become stuck in a "typical" way of thinking, so diversity is good to challenge unchallenged ideas and beliefs but as you said greater care should be taken not to become hostile or disrespectful.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I have found myself frequently agreeing with things you say... and when I don't, it usually spawns some sort of shift in my way of thinking. That's a good thing...

Sam. you have my support. I go by my intuition rather than a history of your squabbles with h0bby1. You are a nice guy. I see this with your interaction online and you are always looking for opportunities to grow and learn. Sometimes you can jump on the bandwagon and kick a man when he's down, like you did with h0bby1. I always stand up for the little guy, i always stand up to the bullies actually. This is why I made SecretAgentWoman, because I did not like seeing the way you kicked h0bby1 when he was down. Gave you a temporary taste of your own medicine since GI was locked in a straight jacket. Can't you agree that I've always left you alone? Why? because other than that incident, I've never seen you be mean or nasty. But when the damage was done and h0bby1 was down for the count, you took every opportunity to get in some last minute pot shots.
