First of all, best wishes to the Mamas who are expecting!!

I ran into a guy who just had a baby with his gf. I asked him if she had the baby at home, and he said yes. He explained to me he just got done working on the midwife's farm doing labor in exchange for her services of midwifery.

YAY!! I totally adore the people in my town. <3

Thanks for that video, it was nice to see how they handled a more scary case, and it's the first video I've seen where things have actually gotten a bit.. well.. scary !

I do think I may study to be a doula and maybe apprentice with one of the midwives here.
That'd be such a cool job for you. I could totally picture you doing it!

i guess my concerns comes from what i've seen happen in my own family. one delivery was going great in a hospital until the doctor squeezed his forceps too hard around the baby's head. that baby now is an adult who's a bit mentally slow. any connection? another delivery, an ill-advised c-section, was going great. but a few minutes after birth, the baby stopped breathing. if it hadn't been for machines and doctors with all their tests, that baby would have died.

but then i also get that most women of a certain age deliver without complications. so i guess it all comes down to: are you willing to take the chance... i am. i also believe in fate (what is meant to be, will be) and faith (that whatever happens, good or bad, is just another step or lesson in my life... all leading somewhere...)
