How can i get rid of depression?

My depression started about 2 years ago, since then it has only gotten worse. Now im so exhausted that even brushing my teeth feels too hard.
I have tried many different medications but it has only made everything worse. I havent enjoyed anything in a long long time... Everything just feels the same, in fact i cant even remember how it felt to enjoy something. Nothing interests me anymore. And the future only seems worse.
In the past 6 months i have started to become suicidal i just dont know if i want to live anymore... Nobody has been able to help me, for example family or psychiatry... I just wish this would stop... please help me...

I've been here before. And then I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. You have to find the will within you to stand up and change your situation. Only you can do it. And if I, with a sharded soul who cries when I see a dead fly (no, I'm not exaggerating) can do it, then you can do it. You just have to want it. Find music that brings you out of your current comfort zone. That warm, safe, miserable pit you're drowning in. Read a book. Occupy your mind...which typically I speak against but there is a time for everything and the time for noise and live-liness for you is now.

    Get up love. You can.

I've been dealing with depression a long time, and I know exactly what you mean. After years of working with "mordern" psychology, I realized that they have no clue what they're doing, so I've turned back to a more "eastern" approach, found a very good councelor/spiritual advisor, and have been seeing some real improvements in the past few months. Yes, I still have "good" days and bad days, but I wasn't expecting a miracle cure.

Some things I've found that help, at least as much if not more than medication, have been #1- meditation. Just starting meditating has helped a great deal, more than anything else I've found. Excersize helps, too. I know it's about the last thing on your to-do list when taking a shower takes all your willpower, but it does help, even in small doses.
I've let myself get really out of shape between the depression, anxiety, and neck pain problems, and living in Wisconsin in the winter isn't exactly helpful. I try to get my dog out for a walk, walk the stairs, or spend some time with my punching bag. Anything that gets me moving, pretty much.
If I run into a bad day, I just do what I can do, and don't beat myself up about it (or try not to, at least).

Basically, I decided to change my whole perspective on the depression and anxiety problems. My shrink, and the normal councelors I went to all basically compared depression to type 1 diabetes. It's just something you have, and have to learn to live with. I never accepted that answer. So I found a councelor who holds the same general outlook as I do, that the dperession and anxiety are symptoms, not diseases. Getting to the core is sort of like peeling an onion, but for the most part, the closer you get, the better you start to feel.

This ad goes away when you register.

Just a few months ago, I couldn't take my dog around the block or go across the street to the gas station without having an anxiety attack. But, in learning more about who I am, how I work, and trying to get closer to my souls intention for this lifetime, that has subsided substantially. I know the instinct is to build a wall to protect yourself, but, trust me, that only makes things worse. Knocking down the walls you've built takes time, but feels so much better.

Sounds like its alot more than just depression. If the medications arent working then slowly stop taking them no point adding side effects from medications to your problems. Remove as much stress as you can from your life. Regrets and wishing you could have changed the past are sometimes the reason why people get severe depression. Things like mending a few fences, do selfless acts of helping people usually help. Most people survive depression because someone saves their life, saves their mind and heart.

And as a side note, if you're on medications, there is a good chance they're making it worse. I was on about 4 different meds trying to get out of my slump and the doctor just kept adding and swapping more and the next thing I knew I was lying half-dead staring at the moon in a muddy rivene. I spent 3 days recouperating and took myself off everything and suddenly... shit just got easier... clearer.

in addition to working on your issues-- homeopathic ignatia 30c. totally safe and does lift the clouds and induce healing without any other type of effect.

i will say more if it interests you. i know that very few people here are familiar with homeopathy.

Very often, depression is oppressed rage and anger

in this time many of us are conditioned to avoid, ignore our anger

    to shove it down

Some may not even remember what originally happened to create anger and rage

Are you angry on some level? If you are it is ok.

Anger is not ~negative~ All emotion is energy that must be processed

Just like mail at the post office is processed, imagine if it were not and it clogged up the system

Imagine the food you eat not being processed and released

and so it is with emotion

Maybe it might help to start by trying to feel angry about the last two years. You are justified in that anger. Your health, happiness, comfort has all been put on hold

You have sought help with only more hinderance as a result.

Can you be mad about that? Do you not deserve as all of us do to feel good in your skin, whole, peaceful, happy? You DO.

Do not use medications, they will only make your condition worse. You need to heal from within by clearing your chakras. There are many good books on the subject. Take a lot of nature walks, meditate often, and get in touch with God-source. Long term fasting also a very quick and effective means.

Some medications can help curb the chemical imbalances in your brain, but it won't fix the problem. First step, why are you depressed. Second step, finding trigger points/things that make you sad. Step 3, healing by finding things in life that you enjoy.

What "chemical imbalances"? Where are the blood screens or any test that show these "chemical imbalances". There are none.

First of all know that you are worth life and all of it's glory and that you belong here on Earth. When I had depression it got to a point where I felt suicidal and needed help So if you ever feel that telling yourself compliments is enough then it's best to go see a phycologist.

how can i get rid of depression?

i started to accept my self, accept my life, accept others, and accept the world.
love my self and being happy everyday.

accepting and loving yourself are the most important thing, no one can accept and love you more than yourself.
how can others love you if you're not loving yourself? how can you love others if you're not loving yourself first?

been there done that, trust me it works.

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.

The only way to get rid of depression totally is to be really honest with yourself about what the root cause of the depression is it can start as a reaction to something in your life and then you get so used to feeling depressed that you still feel that way when the original cause has passed, only by dealing with the emotional issues that are at the heart of it will you be free from it. This is something easier said than done as often it is confusing as to what is actually causing the feelings we shield ourselves from ourselves at times sometimes because we don't really want to be honest with ourselves in order to avoid something painful to deal with or sometimes because we simply don't want to take responsibility for the way that we feel, it can take a lot of deep soul searching to get to the cause but it is the only way to get out of depression unless the reason for it simply no longer applies, it can take a strong willpower to remind ourselves to choose not to be depressed even if we do have a reason to be, meditation is a good way to get in touch with how you feel and learn to observe your emotions and recognise why you are having the feelings that you do. when you understand the why changing becomes possible.

My best reccomendation is to find yourself a natural health practitioner who specializes in alternative medicine. They will have the best ways to assess your particular situation and to reccomend a course of action that will not have you relying on medications.

I went through this myself - for me a slow weaning off of the medications and replacing it with daily meditation did the trick. I've been drug-free since 1998, but I still have to meditate twice a day every day in order to keep myself balanced. The NHP that you talk to will know what best to reccomend for you

“What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you went to heaven and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if,when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?”

Another good way to get rid of depression is to move alot. Physical exercise is great in getting the endorphins to run. Try running or swimming, very good practices both of them and you don't need any medicinal crap if you excercise a few times a week.

I don't think my grandmother would agree with this but it worked for me. Today i got a tattoo of a zebra shark. all i could think about while getting it was how happy i would be that i got to see a beautiful animal everytime i looked at my arm. It's a reminder to myself that i absolutely do have love for something. I'll never be able to forget now. This could work with a quote or really anything at all. Anything that is dear to you. Yea it was painful, but it wasn't someone trying to hurt me. It was me telling myself to remember to love and that love got me through it easy.

Have you tried citalopram? I only need 20mg a day, it's very gentle & one of the best?
If you smoke, quit, if you drink, quit. These habits don't help the chemical balances in your brain, force your body into a routine, going to bed at a certain time etc, get 30minutes of day light a day, go for a walk around the block.
Take up art/poetry its a really good & thereputic way of dealing with emotions like depression.
Do you like fantasy stories? Maybe read a book & get wrapped up somebody elses fictional lifestyle for a bit it may help you to see your life the way it should & can be.
Just believe in yourself, suicidal is a horrible place to be, I've been there alot myself I sympathise with you & hospitals aren't the best places to end up either, you wanna live your life the way you want, see your dreams & grab them, take baby steps & you will get there, work on your confidence levels. Hope this has helped even if a little, oh & cut down on refined sugar & junk food, diet is the key.

Oooh it's a good job you like the finished tattoo I imagine if it hadn't turned out the way you expected it could have had a very different outcome. What you have done is given yourself a visable reminder to focus on, the same technique can be used with anything that you choose to focus on that you remember makes you happy.

Glad you like your tattoo Terra pretty cool reminder
