Maybe another hobby?

A site I go to makes me cry. I have been crying for half-an-hour due to one post in reply to my own. More than when I debated on Storm Front. It's a Harry Potter forum, and I'm not sure if I should give the name or not. They have alot of liberals in the staff that seem to censor conservative viewpoints and ignore when leftists go too far.
They also rarely talk about Harry Potter. The majority of my posts are in Random Threads, Media Threads, and Debate & Discussion. I PM'ed someone on that site for advice, but you guys seem very aware of emotions.
The only reason I am on the site is because I want 1000 posts. I know it sounds wrong, but for the longest time I've had the goal of trying to get 1000 posts on sites I like before I leave. I've only approached that mark on one site so far, then I got bored.
Do you think I should leave?

Not helping. Too true, but not helping.
I PM'ed one of the Staff members. She shares my views, and thinks I should only post in one section for awhile. Maybe get away from it for awhile.

One of the first forums I joined was about Ancient Egypt. There was this girl there that pointed out to me that the more posts you have, the more people like you. Granted she was a spammer and I helped get her banned, but ever since I have looked to post counts as I way of feeling like I achieve something.

With all due respect, Charity, who cares whether or not people like you on a left-wing Harry Potter forum? (Is Mr. Obama using some of Voldemort's magics to win the crowds to his side these days?)
And even if you did decide that their approval was worth your time, do you really think that the number of posts you contributed would make that big of a difference? I would think that it would be the quality of your posts that determined your popularity on the forum, not the quantity.

I know it's not the end of the world. I just wanted a non-biased opinion, which this forum allows me to have.
It's just if you ever notice, if a member with 600 posts does something against the rules, they can often get away with it. If a member with 6 posts does something wrong, they are oftened banned. It sucks, but many forums are ran by people who are control freaks.

hey charity, i love your outlook. so different and to some i spose wierd, which i love. there is obviously something that you are gaining in the feelings that you have from this site. i dont believe its about the 1000 posts anymore. you are adamant to be liked - soooooo very indigo. its the hardest thing to realise that someone doesnt like you, cos you are after all so loving and caring hey. but yup as said above screw them. if you are young, in time you will learn that. until then, realise that you are the master of your ship and that until you take the rudder, others are going to have a ball with being in control of your emotions. LOVE
Hello Charity,
Just an observation - but on most online forums it is painfully clear that most people like to hear themselves talk. They don't want to THINK necessarily, just talk.
The more you give them to think about - the less responses you get because it is easier to talk about trivial things than actual ideas and concepts.
That is one of the good things here on IS; while you still get some who will post just to post, more often than not you'll get people who actually respond to what you say - and in a thought-out manner. (There, my plug for IS)
Don't take it to heart Charity - it's not YOU they don't like, but the idea of having their view of life, the universe, and everything shaken up - even a little bit![]()

thank you. squeeeeeeeeeeze LOVE
well if you love being a main poster on forums like I do then what you need to do is find a subject you know tons about and put all your knowledge into posting on those specialist sites... If you run out of things to say, like I do sometimes, just talk about the latest book you read on your chosen topic and write your veiws, post facts, ask other peoples opinions and become as non-critical as possible... I know from my own experience that the non-critical bit can be hard when there is opposing beliefs on a forum.
Try that...

Thank you very much. I've taken the advice of people and only post in a certain area. I am hoping there will be a change in Administrators. What I bet will happen is that I will get bored, and just stop going there altogether. It always happens.

i wouldnt take it to personally, i have learned that no matter what you say or do there always some where who acts like its so obvious that you did, didnt, won't or are the wrong thing....whatever...like dont you know your not supposed to wear purple on thursday? i mean duh, everyone knows that right?
wrong...thats just silliness, and its just about the way most people think. and maybe theres even five other people right there who know its perfectly fine to wear purple on thursday, but they tend to be quieter sorts of people....and then you know like the next thrusday then your thinking ok no purple, so you go black and white, and now there a whole new person whos got issues with that! its all over the place, its sad and its totally silly!

Why should it matter how many posts you have??!
to be honest, id rather see someone posting 5 posts from the bottom of their heart, than someone posting thousands of pointless-power hungry posts over and over.
It is good that you have a goal, but if you do it to dominate others (or "be on top") then you are setting this goal for the wrong reason. Though, I dont think those are YOUR intentions, Charity. Everything you have posted has a peice of YOU in them, all 259 of them. And they work fine for me!! Keep doing what your doing and keep your goals high, just remember to put heart into everything you do, and don't do everything just for personal gains/feeding the ego. But, I don't think you have a problem with this, just a reminder!! You shouldnt only be on the site to make 1,000 posts, you should be on the site to MAKE THE BEST of those 1,000 posts.!. =]
I'm weird about keeping promises to myself, too. So i understand when you have the compulsion to do something, and HAVE to do it. lol.
I think you should stay, but the choice is yours <333

but by the same token, i find that there are always tons of people in the "licked" crowd who are so grateful when you break the mold. they dont have the guts to do it themselves and when someone else does, they are "set free". hopefully they dont start following your "trend" then. eeeek, cant think of a creepier thing, a crowd of people following you around, imitating you. RUN!!!! LOVE
