mod application for introductions forum

makwaiskwew here. Also known by many other names...lol...
I have never moderated any forum ever although I don,t see this as moderation so much as an opportunity to help those that are new here if they need help to find their way around. Mind you I am not always the greatest at that myself but know others who can answer what I cannot.
I've been a member of this forum for a few years now and am truly grateful for the love and acceptance I have found here.
I am sure that many here know I am old...lol...but not so old as to not relate to the problems that the youth face in today,s society. If I can help in any way by just being a friend I am glad to help. Sometimes that can be as simple as a smile and a chuckle but most certainly hugs are good too
So...there you go.
Also I ask that ALL members try to watch out for the newcomers. They too have a story.
Now the only question I have is do I press send or not.

I Just joined at the beginning of the month.
Today was the first time I happened to see a thread warning against giving out too many details of yourself.
For the most part I usually stick to the street smarts code about personal info.
But all the newbies,Including myself give too much of ourselves away in early posts trying to compare similarities with each other.
Now I've come to find out that I cant go back and "trim the fat" from my posts.

I know I can edit newly posted posts for a while, I do it all the time.(my spelling sux)
Am I just missing a function under the settings or........
Is it too late to cry over spilled milk.

I'll deal if I have to.
I know programming can be a pain.


Or Is this the wrong thread for this?

members have 48 hours to edit their posts. after that you can ask a global mod to help you.

i'm sure you will be the new intros caretaker, no problem. its needed-- at present daniel has asked all the mods to keep an eye on intros and make sure everyone gets a good welcome. maybe there's some creative stuff that could be done there.....

You would make a great "newbies buddy" who checks that each newbie knows how to send a PM. You could encourage each one to PM you with all his/her enquiries until he/she gets settled in. Does that make sense?

No hon....You can,t pm until after 15 or 20 posts(I,m not even sure anymore) so it doesn,t serve much purpose to the newcomers. I just want to be able to see who arrives and help where I can. A perfect example is SoundSleeper(hope you don,t mind) As she shared with us she only just discovered the thread about sharing information. And as Rabana shared you cannot edit after 48 hours. I remember once a youngster arriving and on the first post gave a LOT of personal info. I commented and sounded quite grouchy when I asked if they always gave out that much info over the internet. My concern being their safety. Remember that not everyone here is at the same awareness at this time and we come from diverse backgrounds and situations. There is still much healing to do. And while healing it is a personal thing between man and creator, still I can be a friend to those seeking...xxoo
