    Starseed, Maybe... Why not.

    Hi,

    Pretty sure I'm a Starseed.

I write aphorisms, fragments, and short meditations on universal themes.
I'm preoccupied with the Christian mythos, but am on good terms with many religions.

I'm a wounded healer, a bridge, a doorway, a dweller between the worlds...

I tinker in the liminal space, where idioms go to die,
in a flail of mixed-metaphors, implications and asides...

    I don't fuss over paradox.
I am a citizen of the imagination.

Now I am Vishnu, but, quicker than the thought,
I have become a flaming sword in the fist of Agni.

I am a dervish whirling over mountain ranges, glaciers crumbling underfoot.

I am ivory in the mouth of a furious tiger. I am polished shell in the riverbed.

There I am, carried up into the wind, and pulled apart like a cloud...

Your writing is quite good. I especially like the last line. I can also relate to what you have said. Can you expand on , "I am a wounded healer, a bridge, a doorway between the worlds…. I have often felt I spend more thinking time in the world of the spirit than I do thinking about the problems of the everyday earth person, lol.

    silvercharm,

    Thank you!
    I tried starseeds.net
They really wanted me to make my case.
I haven't received their verdict yet.

    AmentiHall,

    Thanks!
I like the way you put it; a more lovely way of saying
we must remind one another to look up at the stars!

    druanne13,

    Why, thank you!
You might want to read about the centaur Chiron,
    as he appears in ancient mythology and again in modern astrology;
he's an archetype of the wounded-healer. As is Promethius.
See also, perhaps, the Moth Totem.

Uh-oh!! Your last sentence has summoned the gods of Romanticism....

Now I'll have to post a long excerpt from Oscar Wilde's 'DE PROFUNDIS':

"Every thing to be true must become a religion..."

"People point to [the prison] and say, 'That is where the artistic life leads a man.' Well, it might lead to worse places. The more mechanical people to whom life is a shrewd speculation depending on a careful calculation of ways and means, always know where they are going, and go there... Those who want a mask have to wear it. But with the dynamic forces of life, and those in whom those dynamic forces become incarnate, it is different. People whose desire is solely for self-realisation never know where they are going... Christ had no patience with the dull lifeless mechanical systems that treat people as if they were things, and so treat everybody alike: for him there were no laws: there were exceptions merely, as if anybody, or anything, for that matter, was like aught else in the world!... His chief war was against the Philistines. That is the war every child of light has to wage... He is the Philistine who upholds and aids the heavy, cumbrous, blind, mechanical forces of society, and who does not recognize dynamic force when he meets it either in a man or a movement... Philistinism was the note of the age and community in which he lived. In their heavy inaccessibility to ideas, their dull respectability, their tedious orthodoxy, their worship of vulgar success, their entire preoccupation with the gross materialistic side of life, and their ridiculous estimate of themselves and their importance... Christ mocked at the 'whited sepulchre' of respectability, and fixed that phrase for ever. He treated worldly success as a thing absolutely to be despised. He saw nothing in it at all. He looked on wealth as an encumbrance to a man... He showed that the spirit alone was of value... he preached the enormous importance of living completely for the moment...I see in Christ not merely the essentials of the supreme romantic type, but all the accidents, the wilfulnesses even, of the romantic temperament also... He saw that people should not be too serious over material, common interests: that to be unpractical was to be a great thing: that one should not bother too much over affairs. The birds didn't, why should man?... His morality is all sympathy, just what morality should be... His justice is all poetical justice, exactly what justice should be..."

"I am one of those who are made for exceptions, not laws... And if life be, as it surely is, a problem to me, I am no less a problem to life. People must adopt some attitude towards me, and so pass judgment, both on themselves and me."

"Between my art and the world there is a wide gulf, but between art and myself there is none."

Doesn't it just make you swoon!!!

    Philosophy can bake no bread;
but she can procure for us God, Freedom, Immortality.
Which, then, is more practical, Philosophy or Economy?
    ~ Novalis

Mark this well, you proud men of action: You are, after all,
only the unconscious instruments of the men of thought.
    ~ Heinrich Heine

The dreamers ride against the men of action.
See the men of action falling back.
    ~ Leonard Cohen

That the end of life is not action but contemplation -- being as distinct from doing -- a certain disposition of the mind, is, in some shape or other, the principle of all the higher morality. In poetry, in art, if you enter into their true spirit at all, you touch this principle in a measure... beholding for the mere joy of beholding. To treat life in the spirit of art is to make life a thing in which means and ends are identified... To witness this spectacle with appropriate emotions is the aim of all culture.
    ~ Walter Pater

A man must dream a long time
in order to act with grandeur,
and dreaming is nursed in darkness.
    ~ Jean Genet

Hi Sebastian Gale, welcome to IS You are a very good writer Thanks.

    Oscar Wilde.....love it.

I am one of those who are made for exceptions, not laws... And if life be, as it surely is, a problem to me, I am no less a problem to life. People must adopt some attitude towards me, and so pass judgment, both on themselves and me.

I think starseed and Indigo are just words; no two people are alike. Labels can tend to constrain a little......I think all of us are everything, but we sometimes identify more strongly with certain concepts.

    Yup.

"But the quality of the imagination is to flow, and not to freeze... For all symbols are fluxional; all language is vehicular and transitive, and is good, as ferries and horses are, for conveyance, not as farms and houses are, for homestead... all religious error consisted in making the symbol too stark and solid, and, at last, nothing but an excess of the organ of language."
    ~ Emerson, from: 'The Poet'

"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled."

    Great quotes.
First time I've heard the word fluxional...you learn a new thing every day

...all language is vehicular and transitive, and is good, as ferries and horses are, for conveyance, not as farms and houses are, for homestead...
