I been exercising ever since I can remember. One thing I think I discovered recently is just how in shape you can get in just training like you are training to be a fighter. I been heavy bag training. Not only will this help get you cut and give you lean muscle it will also help give you a more confidence in self defense and help you learn about your body mechanics, which I really enjoy. Core exercises are also more important then I thought. So between the core exercises, going at the heavy bag (don't like the other cardios) I was able to lessen the frequency of a lot of my target workgroups. Mostly use lifting to sculp my body where I think it could be better, but able to get away with doing a lot of it with my new routine.

Hi entropy, welcome to the site. My goal is to first build core strength as you mentioned and to lift moderate weight, so i can build a good foundation before i start lifting heavy to gain mass. Ive always done less cardio, cuz i never wanted to lose the mass. But i do like the idea of a punching bag as it will help to build stamina, and definitely help me get cut and aid in lean muscle mass. Thankyou i appreciate the advice... i'll let you know how its going as i progress.

Ps... I forget to ask, as you mentioned "Training like you are training to be a fighter" have you tried the "Tractor tire" workout? Its an all out body workout designed specifically for strength and stamina with cardio, its used by UFC Fighters in their training sessions. Anyway i hope this was helpful

yes....are you heavy or light.....i ask this b/c i find that climbing/pull up veriations are good for core strength and burning fat while converting the muscles to more versatile configurations.....or maybe i just burned off all my fat alltogether and can actually see the way they interconnect ( i know ....creepy)

also lucid dreaming seems to help....like freerunning dreams where you would be running up and off walls and such....somtimes you might catch a usefull talent that way.

either way i wish you luck and a great workout.

i wiagh 122 pounds can bench 250....also i feel very light as i have burned off all the excess...i think there are genetic factors involved but hell imagine if you where say 180 pounds of nothing but lean muscle....i cannot gain weight.... so i have literally reached my max...

How in gods name are you benching twice your body weight with that size frame?

Anyways, if you want to pick up more lean muscle mass from where you are now, just boost your protein intake, a gram per pund is what they say, so if you want to weight, 150 pounds or so, eat 150grams daily between around 6 meals, balance it with good quality carbs too if you're burning alot more, and I don't mean sit and bulk for a month on them.

I weigh, 220 ppounds and do 264 and I dont have much fat either. So you must be injecting roids or lifting most of that with chi, I don't really know.

Im a member of a commercial gym, la fitness. So my gym lacks a lot of stuff what they have at crossfit gyms. So no suspension training, tracter tires, sled pulling, kettle bells, etc at my gym. Crossfit targets more of how UFC fighters train but I try to make due with it back at my gym. For example the cable machines I do a lot of my "chopping" exercises. This gets a lot of the core muscles involved and there are a lot of variations of it.

Im not sure if this post was in response to a post i had left, but thankyou for the information you have shared. I know a 20 year old male that weighs 145 pounds and benches 225, which i thought was impressive, but you've surpassed that in ur bench press, i think some guys just have raw power and are naturals.

entropy, hey whatever works, if its working for you then stick with it, it seems you workout hard and achieve maximum results.

    LMAO

But seriously 250 at your weight is really good. I weigh about 250 and bench 470. (I have been lifting for a long time)

I do the russian bear routine 20 sets of 5 reps takes a long time and isn't for beginners or even intermediates.

I came across this youtube channel when I was looking for info about weight lifting and related topics. These dudes are pretty funny and offer lots of practical advice when it comes to gaining muscle.

Actually, there really is a difference between races and how the muscles are structured.
