Can anybody please tell me if this is normal...?

I've spent quite some time Googling this and I haven't come up with much so I'm wondering if any of you have any insight you might share with me.. I'm quite afraid to meditate because I just don't understand what's happening.

I first started meditating 5 years ago. Within a couple minutes I would fall into a deep trance-like state. My breathing slows way down and my body pulsates with energy. My eyes are glued shut and become really heavy and I feel this strong pulling sensation around my eyes. This is the part that I'm unsure of - within minutes my body becomes completely paralyzed - I can't move my hands or legs and my head tips backwards involuntarily like I'm being directed to look upwards. I feel very happy, but kind of afraid. If I stay like this I feel like I'm being pulled out of my body towards the sky. This happens every single time I try to meditate, but I often stop it before it gets to this point. I usually start panicking and tell my fingers to wake up and eventually I can move them a little bit and within a couple minutes my body is back to normal. What I'm wondering is am I doing something wrong, or is this what happens to most people?
I first started meditating by visualizing my chakras but now I don't really concentrate on anything, I just sit with my palms upwards and breathe for a minute and this happens.
Any explanations/ideas would be great! Thanks

Lucky you some people take years to get to that stage, it is your self consciousness trying to connect with your higher self or cosmic consciousness, go with it and enjoy.

    1world love.

You are good at entering trance, but it also sounds like you may be a good medium and channeler.

From what it sounds like, you somehow open yourself up for energies to come. I know the feelin you speak of very well the paralysis, and it is not normal in meditation. In meditation, at the mos you should feel a sense of having no body at all, like you are so relaxed- and in a higher state that your bodily awareness goes.

but feeling your eyes uncontrollable, and a feeling of energy come about you that paralyzes you sounds like an energy to me, that you are allowing in your body.

Clear your chakras, take some salt water baths for a week.

Doesn't mean that its bad....but it seems like you can't control leaving your body.

This ad goes away when you register.

Try this, when you meditate, with your intent "set your chakras." If you don't want to leave your body when getting deep, and high in vibration then simply intend to "close" your crown chakra. That's usually what happens when in deep meditation, many people leave their body from the crown.

You may have it too open, which means a few things : you are leaving your body, and 2) another energy entity can sometimes come in. If you have a pre-disposition to channeling, you have to set boundaries for yourself and a clear intent so that others cannot enter.

I do not know if that's the case, but paralysis is not normal. If you are feeling an increase in vibration and you are leaving your body- that's another matter. But still, it is best and wise to learn how to protect your body from astral entities before you start doing that.

BTW, I don't think it an entity or anything like that. It seems like your energy is increasing, and your kundalini might be pumping high up. When you are paralyzed, are you coarsing with energy. I have had instances after a deep long meditation, to suddenly doing deep kundalini breaths, and getting a feeling of incredible energy/intensity, to the poin where certain areas feel "tense" but not physically, vibrationally, like an increase in energy so intense that it has that feeling. Hands can also lock into mudras, and your eyes can roll upwards. Once I was doing it, and suddenly my eyes just shot wide open, couldn't control it.

If the latter is the case then don't worry. Just keep using discretion, wait until you feel insane build up of energy, and stop right when it begins to get uncomfortable. After a while IMO, you will pass that threshold.

    Take care.

Thank you so much for your replies. AmentiHall, when I meditate with my eyes sealed shut, my eyeballs always roll upwards like you described with this intense pressure as if they're being pulled by a magnet, and my body courses with energy. The whole area around my eyes feels very tense and I sometimes feel myself squinting my eyes really hard.
I realize that I really need to do my research because I don't know much about controlling my energies and I'm still a beginner when it comes to meditation. I will definitely work on closing the crown chakra, because I usually just breathe and let my body do its thing without using any sort of intent. When you say intend to close a chakra, should I just visualize something closing around the crown area?
I do not like the idea of letting an energy into my body, I really just want to meditate without feeling out of control.

    Thanks again!!

The paralysis is most likely just that you are good at separating your mind from your body which is exactly what you are supposed to be doing when meditating, you state that you usually feel very happy yet fearful and this is the last barrier, overcoming fear, it is pretty normal to be a little worried about the unknown however if you feel a presence that is causing you fear that is a different matter.

I have a question for you, have you ever been to a hypnotist in the past ? The reason i ask is that you seem to be entering a trance automatically as if your body remembers how to do so.

Well it doesn't sound so bad then.

It may just be you have a huge surge of energy and can't control it. So perhaps find a way to "calm" the energy down and distribute it throughout your body. Also "intend" energy to go up your spine, through your head, and OUT of your crown so that it spirals around and back down. This will "Fill out" your aura so that you don't just have it all contained in your body. It seems the energy wants to exit somehow, but this may also be a good way for you to practice conscious astral projection also, in the future.

I don't know if its normal but the same or similar happens to me. I begin to feel something on the bottom of my feet, pressing into them and it feels like it would very hard to move my feet if I tried. When I do try, the feeling falls away immediately and it is no problem to move. I am wide awake though, my eyes don't feel heavy at all. I also can feel sensations of being touched, my belly button or my hands, usually. Sometimes it is like an affectionate stroke and sometimes its like I'm getting a massage. Lately, my legs have begun to feel lighter than air sometimes, like they are lifting up. I am usually laying down when I meditate. I don't even know if what I do is considered meditation but I completely relax and see what comes into my mind. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it sounds like you are just getting into a deeper state of relaxation, where the body muscles are so relaxed, they just seem immobile.

Basically you are able to reach the theta brain wave quite easily. I have only been able to reach that level a couple times. I have been meditating for about a year.

Rum - yes, I went to a hypnotist once a few years back, but it was just hypnotherapy to try to overcome my shyness (didn't work haha) but now that you mention it, it does feel very similar to that experience of being in a hypnotic trance.
AmentiHall - I think that you're right, it's just like there's an overload of energy that I don't quite know how to control. Sometimes throughout the day I just feel my body pulsing with energy and I need to learn how to tone it down. I am going to try to distribute the energy rather than just letting it be and see how that feels.
tmt - i can relate to feeling lighter than air, I sometimes feel like my body has disappeared. The pressure you feel on your feet, I feel something similar in my hands but it's like 2 balls of energy and my hands are stuck in place around them. I have never felt like I was being touched but that's really interesting
Lucypur - I just looked up "theta brain waves" and learned something new! I've never thought about it that way, but I guess it's almost like being in a dream while awake.

I think that the fear is not so much another energy (I hope) but apprehension about the unknown. The last couple of days I've been trying to visualize my body being full of light and love and it helps me to release the fear a little bit.

I had a feeling that you had done hypnotherapy it explains why your body knows how to enter trance state its a remembered action from that experience.

It also explains the other things you describe as your body thinks that you are entering hypnosis again rather than meditating.

Well I did an experiment today. I meditated for about 30 minutes, clearing out my central channel, getting some good energy in and out. Then I did an intensive meditation, intensive breathing, kundalini up and down. And within a few minutes I felt the intensity. I took notice of what i felt.

I can't say it was a feeling paralysis, because I've felt paralysis from other beings before and its TRULY somethin you have to break free from.

BUT, I did feel such an intense energy, that my solar plexus to sacral was brimming with a kind of uncomfortable tension. My body and cells were vibrating. And my hands were glued to my knees. It was kind of like.... a paralysis in a sense. But it was more of an extreme intensity of the energy....hard to explain. Is this what you feel? My kundalini, my energy was brimming through every ounce of my body, I have to "stop" before it goes further with discomfort and inability to move.

    to AmentiHall--
RE: one of your recent posts--
    1. Why did you say "Don't trust the Zetas!"
    2. What is "planet B" and why would they want us to go there, get there, or whatever.
Myself, I do trust the Zetas so I am interested in your view.

It could be similar to what you are describing, last night I did feel an uncomfortable tension, like there was something caught in my upper back and neck. Maybe paralysis is the wrong word, it's not so much like my body is being held down or is heavy or anything, but my body becomes soo light and my energy so strong that my body almost disappears and it takes a long time for me to "come back" to it. I have to tell myself "I'm going to move my fingers" and it gets tingly and eventually I can wiggle my toes and fingers and the rest of my body comes back to normal.

I tried an experiment last night also - I decided to go further into this feeling to see what happens and it was the strangest experience. This time it went like this: I sat down and felt my energy through my body as a whole. I tried to do a visualization but it was like my energy did not want to do what I wanted it to. It happened even faster than usual this time. My eyes got tense and started squinting really tight, and it was as though all my energy was being pulled into my third eye. It went kind of purple-y then intensely black and I saw the shape of an eye. Then all of the sudden it spit me back out into my body and I felt.. different. I can't even describe the way it felt, but almost like I was in another dimension or something. I was not connected to my body, and if I wanted to open my eyes I could not. Then my head tipped backwards again, and this time it tipped ALL the way back, my chin was in the air pointing to the ceiling. I tried to move my head back to normal and it literally fought me, and forced itself back upwards. It was like I wasn't in control of my body at all, it was doing its own thing. Then, like I said above, I felt this tension moving around my body and I was feeling kind of uneasy so I started telling myself "I'm going back to my body" over and over, and when I eventually opened my eyes I was still kind of in a trance, like I couldn't move for 10-15 minutes, I was just staring blankly at the wall. The strange part is the tension never left my body, I can still feel it right now in my upper back.

It does feel quite similar to a hypnotic trance, like Rum suggested. But at the same time I feel my energy so strongly and it was like being taken over in a way. Maybe I am just analyzing it too much and need to try to enjoy it...

wow, I have never managed to open an eye while in a deep meditation, although I'm not sure if I could! I'm going to try this tonight. I never find I am breathless, but rather my breath is so low that it feels like I'm not breathing at all. I suppose all you can do is keep trying to go deeper into it, although I know for me I find it quite unnerving not knowing what will happen next!

What did the eye look like? Did it feel like a presence. And when you feel paralyzed, do you feel like there is a presence that is not you nearby or inside?

Theta is a deep, deep brain level. It is achieved through long periods of meditation. When one is in theta the person is not able to move. The person is filled with bliss and comfort.

I have been meditating for the past year. It takes time to get used to meditating. It takes time to get comfortable with meditating. All I can say is meditate everyday. I used feel uncomfortable with meditation. But I just told myself that meditation isn't going to hurt me so I just fought through the discomfort. Once you do that your fear will subside. You will get to a point were you can't go without it. You actually want to go as far as one can go. Just stick in there and tough it out.. It can't hurt you..
