Alright, Whose got theories on what that phenomenon in the episode "Midnight" was all about?

I'm thinking it was some sort of crystalization process that was behind all the crystals on the planet, only it confused "Sky" with the sky, some kind of consciouisnes-crystalization oyster-pearl thing, and the final precipitation end process got a bit rough.

I damaged a chair during the viewing. It was a chair of significance, 12 some years running. I need to know why.

The Loneliness of the Long Distance Traveller

    1. Christopher Eccleston
    2. Tom Baker
    3. David Tennant

Imagine that you could travel anywhere in space and/or time.
It would be thrilling and mind-blowing to begin with,
but as the years rolled on you’d start to get jaded,
until you reached that same point of ennui.

And with it a feeling of alone-ness (loneliness), and emptiness.

Once the level of jadedness reaches a certain point you start
to turn from the with-out to the with-in.
From the external to the internal.

The search for something of true value.

It’s also amazing to witness how many travellers
tackle and embrace the daring of exotic and distant travels,
    sign up for adrenaline-filled excursions,
and yet cower in timidity at the idea of travelling within.

I just watch the end of David Tennat era and it was a nice conclusion and you would be quite sad about the loss of another companion in a forceful way it maintain a good drama overall so yeah Matt Smith must've had a big shoe to fill

he was a damn good doctor!!! Chris Ecclestone was equally good and its a pity he only get a season for the show :/ because apparently he seems to be either too mature/intense and against his artistic beliefs. I would love to see him more as a Doctor, its also a pity he wouldn't be reunited in the 50th reunion

Eccleston made some comment it was because 'you don't bathe in the same river twice'. But, the fact of the matter is you never DO bathe in the same river twice, because it's never the same river, and it's never the same you...... but taking another bath woudln't kill ya, would it?!

This ad goes away when you register.

He never made a good fit with the fan-glitz element of it (the way Matt Smith is gobbling it up), and yet Eccleston in interviews and stuff seemed to have a very strong compelling grasp of the core essence what it is about the show that I love and value so highly -- like you hit the bullseye but the bullseye is no longer just a circle on a bit of paper tacked to a bale of hay. In some of his works after that he managed to against capture some of that essence. I am happy to be able to experience all the other things he has done since then. Except that Destro character was a bit tinny, but the synchornicities in real-life surrounding me watching that GI Joe movie were mind-blowing fantastic!

I've been watching the mini-series "Pond Life" that leads up to series 7 and today's episode has me at a loss for words. I don't know what to expect for this new season so like always, I'll just buckle up and sit back for the ride.

@Clear Blue Sky "Midnight" ..... I still shiver over that episode. I've tried not to think too hard about it honestly. lol

Sooo. No thoughts on series 7 episode 1?

It was crazy... There were "omg seriously Moffatt?" moments and "omg that was friggin awesome!" moments. Overall, I left that episode feeling annoyed with Moffatt... For reasons I will not spoil for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. That's just how I feel. We'll see if things get better next Saturday.

I enjoyed it as a TV viewing, though don't think it had any of that deep gripping resonance that other episodes have catalyzed in the past. The relationship drama I thought was a tad immature -- the sort of thing soap opera people might say but not real humans. Sometimes in my journey to acheive perspective and life balance it deflates a lot of the less responsible Drama out there. Like those old plays at the end where everyone starts swigging down poison or stabbing themselves and moaning 'oh I am slain' over some sudden upset. not naming any remotely who-related greek or shakespearean tradgedies though....

@Clear Blue Sky - Yes. You nailed it. Soap operaish and immature... and Moffatt said he was done with soap operas.... Liar.. The story was quite unlikely... at least I never saw it coming (and I've written a book of DW stories and scenarios... well in my head anyways).

This is just the 1st episode of the series so a little hard to judge where the story is going. Huh... It reminds me of how I felt episode 1 of the 6th series and that turned out alright. lol

well, my theory is that ever since Ood sigma told doctor 10 "you song iwll end soon, but your story will never end" that the Doctor/tardis emergency protocol or something 'crash landed' in the Library, and that everything that's happened with the new doctor has been a matrix-like dream thing; and River Song was first encoutnered int he Library and she never left it, and I think is a creation/fantasy of the library. so, can't fault them for bieng 'soap opera'.

To be honest, I grow weary of all the discussion forums out there with every viewer assuming they are some appointed calligula to rate and judge the situation. If it disappoints now its because RTD and Gardner did some outstanding achievements with it that have not been topped, but that was a remarkable dynamic well beyond the 'normal' or what some say 'classic' specs of the show. My reality base with it is that the first episode that 'hooked' me as a younger was of some clown dressed to look like ming the merciless crouching around a maze calling for a rubber suited loinclothed bull monster as if he were offering a tidbit to a lap dog. well, that and the one with the drug monsters that tore people's clothes off. so, Moff is still above 'baseline' LOL.

the thing that really gets me is that the evening before it aired, the fly showed up, and the next morning, the treefrog was at my doorstep behaving a bit like a weeping angel the way it would move forward when I wasn't looking and hten hold very still if I watched it..... I have to choose my fantasies very carefully they do tend to leak into reality at times, haha. Sometimes I wonder if 'psi' surfs the mental energy field or something, like riding a tidal wave. But then others should be getting it to, and generally they don't. so , 'its just me' minus a white point star. I tried to tone it down and go off and focus on something more domestic and benign, like cooking (spaghetti, not souffle), but the kitchen timer I acquired puts out this compelling 4-beat rhythm almost like a drumbeat repeating. might have to egg stir minate something soon.

    Lol Rassilon. ;-)

I'm not upset anymore with the story lines of DW. I'm over it. I love Doctor Who and I know my opinion won't change anything Moffatt does so I should just be greatful it's on the air at all.

I've been trying to watch as much of the 1960s - 1980s DW as I can. They are just as awesome as today's DW!

I just started watching the first season from the sixties, because if I see it I have to watch it complete dude was an A**hole, I hope he learns some humanity during the running of the show.

BTW, I'm very familiar with the show, not as a fan of the show, but as a fan of the concept, I remember watching several episodes, but the tv concept of a dalek was hilarious n(ot in a good way), so I better started reading instead of watching, right now I started watching just because.

My dad was the actual fan, if I'm watching is Honoris Causa , but I'm very pro Dr. Who concept, I just hope to find a season I can identify with, perhaps Torchwood.

It's just a dang shame that most of the 1st and 2nd Doctor episodes are gone because the BBC didn't save things like that at the time. Audio tracks still exist, the video is gone. The old video reels were taped over and reused or destroyed. Who knew a silly little science fiction kids show would be so popular nearly 50 years after it 1st aired on tv?

The BBC has spent at least the last 5+ years working on ways to either animate those "lost episodes" or render video from old files and have called upon many nations to give them any footage out there to recreate the episodes. I even heard they were asking any fans of the show who had old tapes of any of it bootleg or not to come forth.

They have been releasing them as they finish. I REALLY want the "lost episodes" DVD even though it is not complete. I've got the "William Hartnell Years" DVD. I want the "Patrick Troughton Years".
