Why go looking through the whole thread just to find ffault? Eh, but uhm well i was more talking about the one word of advice thing. Because one word of advice should be just one word, not a statement or anything. But whatever

I once read a sci-fi book series about a group of people that worshiped "Change" as their God - the only thing they could rely on. I can not for the life of me remember what it was called or who wrote them though.

I wonder if anyone else has read it?
It was based in Earth in the not too distant future where anarchy reigned and there were empaths and other spiritual skills. The first book was about the main girl as a teenager and was about the break down of the american government and surviving all of that. The second book is a little further on when they have managed to secure themselves some land and there own little community. Then it gets raided. Those books profoundly impacted me, and were another straw to the camels back towards me looking deeper into life. There was beautiful poems in there about change etc. I think the word 'seed' was also important too.

Damn... does anyone know these books?

    GO GOOGLE!!!

Parable of the Sower (I KNEW seed was important!)
    and
    Parable of the Talents

    by Octavia Bulter

She has loads of books... I must read more!

http://books.google.ie/books?as_auth=Octavia+E+Butler - interesting, google has a book search option!

Gosh... when I was reading her books I had no idea about any of background new agey stuff she was writing about, I was still a hard-out christian then. I was reading it for the sci-fi part, I've always been interested in how authors predict the world will be like in the future. I wonder why these books have sudden come to mind now? I think I am supposed to read them again with the understandings I have added to my head over the past 3-4 years...

    "Let the past
    Teach you–
    Past customs,
    Struggles,
    Leaders and thinkers.
    Let
    These
    Help you.
    Let them inspire you,
    Warn you,
    Give you strength.
    But beware:
    God is change.
    Past is past.
    What was
    Cannot
    Come again.

    To survive,
    Know the past.
    Let it touch you.
    Then let
    The past
    Go.”

From “Earthseed: The Book of the Living,” by Lauren Oya Olamina, a fictional poet created by Octavia E. Butler for her 1998 novel, Parable of the Talents.

hehe - there were enough johnnies in Pirates of Carib 3 for everyone to have one (my peanut).
