    Meditate on the Heart

    Meditate on the Heart

Adapted from The Path to Love, by Deepak Chopra (Three Rivers Press, 1997).
The purpose of this exercise is to give you the experience of making your heart pure enough to witness spirit. Pure here doesn't mean good and virtuous; it means free from impurity, with no value judgment intended. In the words of William Blake, we are cleansing the doors of perception.

SIMPLE SOLUTION: Sit comfortably in a quiet room by yourself, choosing a time when you feel settled and unhurried. Early morning is best, since your mind will be alert and fresh. Close your eyes and focus your attention on the middle of your chest, where your heart is. (Your spiritual heart lies directly behind your breastbone.)
Be aware of your heart as a space. Don't try to hear your heartbeat or any other sound you think a heart makes as it pumps blood. The heart center you want to find is a point of awareness where feelings enter. In its pure form it is empty, pervaded by weightlessness, absence of care, peace, and a subtle light. This light may appear as white, gold, pale pink, or blue. But again, don't strain to find a light of any kind. You are not trying to sense the purity of the heart center right now; all you need to feel is whatever is there.

Letting your attention rest easily there, breathe gently and sense your breath going into your heart center. Here you may want to visualize a soft pastel light, or a coolness pervading the chest. Let the breath go in and out, and as it does, ask your heart to speak to you. Don't phrase this as an order; just have the faint intention that you want your heart to express itself.

For the next five or 10 minutes, sit and listen. Your heart will begin to release emotions, memories, wishes, fears, and dreams long stored there, and as it does, you will find yourself paying attention.

Paying attention to your heart is the object of this meditation.

You will notice as you continue this exercise that three things are naturally coming together: Meditation, purification and attention. You are learning to be with your heart in order to heed its spiritual meaning—this is meditation. You are letting repressed material come up to be released—this is purification. You are listening to

About a day ago I posted a thread about headaches asking what will help, and I have never grounded my self in this sense and although I'm not that great at it yet it has helped immensely. Thank you :-)

103 will be about meditating to raise your energy (which in turn leads to protection/shielding).

Ok here's the confusion I'm stuck in. Last night I experienced a really bad headache and dizziness, and I'm pretty sure I had WAY too much energy flowing into me. I ended up knocking out and going to sleep instead of grounding. Anyways wouldn't raising your energy contradict the grounding? How do you keep the headaches away AND raise the energy? Hmm, maybe I should just be patient and wait for 103

*snickers* the key is to know what you need.

There are times when you naturally have far and away too much energy (when you let the excess drain out via grounding methods), but then there are times when you would like to raise your energy levels (this is also dealing with the Kundalini energy, which can be directed, not just gobs of excess normal energy).

When raising your Kundalini energy (to be discussed very basically in 103) you need to be well-grounded to avoid overload.

Raising your energy also allows you to provide and direct enough of your excess energy into a shield should a shield be needed.

There, that's enough, the rest will have to wait for 103

You're looking as this from an either/or perspective. You are a multi-dimensional being, you can have your cake and eat it too! When there's so much energy grounding is even more important. When you aren't grounded, you're unstable, and all the more so when there's lots of energy flowing through you.

This can be difficult at first, very easy to get ungrounded when there's lots of energy. I find that balancing the masculine and feminine within myself is very helpful for grounding lots of energy. We may be tempted to hold onto all that energy for ourselves, but I find that when my cup runneth over it's beneficial for everyone to share that energy.

True - it can be quite amazing how much people pick up on the energy, even if they don't understand what it is.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been picking up all kinds of energy from other people. It was really affecting my thoughts and feelings. Thought I was going insane! Some of it was really, really dark and intrusive. Think it might have affected an important relationship. I knew there was no way in hell this stuff was mine, but I didn't know how to get rid of it. I'm new to all this, so thanks again.

I've definitely been feeling a lot of dense intruding energy. I'm not really fine tuned enough to tell where exactly where it is coming from. Glad to know I'm not the only one dealing with it. Well, not really. Pretty uncomfortable. Its been so strong that it is hard to separate from myself. Maybe I still have some dense aspects that this energy is attracted too? It makes social situations even more strange and difficult.

I think I might have some holes in my aura. Could this be part of the reason I really get slammed with it? Also the thoughts and feelings that come up with this energy seem to be of the dirty second-chakra type. Does that ring true with you?

    BTW, thanks for responding!
