    Thank you Ado....

    This is also a good thread for those of you who are feeling certain energy fluctuations (mostly surges) right now. Of course, a good intense gym workout also works wonders...but this is great for calming the mind

    1) Sit in the meditation position previously described, close your eyes, relax the
    neck and jaw and take a few deep breaths.

    2)a) Males put your awareness at the perineum point (Base Chakra) which is
    located at the base of your body in between the genitals and the anus.

    b) Females put your awareness in the second Chakra or sex center about an inch
    or two below the belly button and one or two inches inside the body.

    3) You should try to increase your awareness on this point for a few minutes and
    notice what you feel.

    4) Now see a cord going from this point all the way down through the earth to the middle of the planet. Imagine that the cord is attached to the middle of the earth which is a huge iron crystal and is actually pulling you downwards from the Base Chakra in men and the Sex Chakra in women.

    5) You should do more than just visualize this with your mind you should
    actually feel it with your body and subtle senses.

    This cord is not just imaginary but actually exists. I t is your grounding cord and is made of non-physical substances. It is yours and so you should be able to feel it and control it. It cannot be stressed enough that this practice is not meant to be purely visual or mental but you should actually feel what is there and control it. Feel it pulling you down and increase its pull. Just like you contract your muscles to pick up something heavy you can control your grounding cord as an energetic muscle.

    Notice what happens to your energy the longer you focus on the grounding cord. Does it feel denser or more dispersed? You may start to feel some deeper emotions coming into your consciousness as this practice alone will begin to stir things up.

    Quite often these are the issues that prevent you from feeling your grounding cord in
    the first place.

    The more you practice this, the more real it will become as you gain greater control of your energy. You should do this practice at the beginning and end of all meditation or spiritual practices. You will become very proficient at this and soon will be able to do it anywhere and anytime. You won't need to close your eyes as it becomes second nature, you will just ground yourself whenever you feel like it. You can even go about your daily activities while continuing the practice, in fact you should tune into it and feel it at various times during the day. The more you feel it the more tangible it will become.

    This from an e-book I downloaded some time ago

    As I said in the first article I do not have any degrees or certifications. I am, however, a long-time practitioner of meditation and have successfully taught a number of individuals (including my own daughters - ages 11 & 16) how to meditate.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Have you ever felt as if you had so much energy that you couldn't concentrate? Have you ever felt as if fear and negative emotions were about to overwhem you? Have you ever felt as if there is so much going on in your life - so many things vying for your attention that your mind is going to fly apart? If you have, then you may be in need of grounding.
    Depending on whom you speak to, the concept of "Grounding" can have a number of meanings. In a physical sense, grounding is the the act or process of making an electrical connection with the earth to avoid electocution.
    Oddly enough, from a spiritual and psychologocial persepctive, "grounding" isn't such a very different concept - it is connecting yourself with the earth, with the source, in order to dissipate any unwanted negative emotions, release and channel excess positive energy, and/or connect you with your source.
    As to the how's of grounding, there are several methods - the best of course is to get out into nature, get in direct contat with nature. But another excellent way of "grounding" of staying in touch with your source, is physical excercise. A good vigerous workout can clear your mind quickly and efficiently and stimulate your root chakra (a primary function of grounding). But physical exercise may not always be an option, and the method for meditative grounding described below is simple enough to use as part of your daily routine during a regular meditation practice, or while riding the bus, or even sitting in your chair at work.
    Basic Grounding Instructions:
    1. Sit or stand comfortably, back straight, feet slightly apart, hands relaxed in your lap or at your sides.
    2. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing (as described in "Meditation 101) until your mind quiets itself and you feel yourself fall into your empty space. *If you have been practicing the mind-clearing meditation for any length of time this should not take more than a minute or two. Some who have been practicing meditation for a while can do this in just a few breaths.
    3. Imagine a cord extending from the crown of your head down to your tail-bone. Feel the cord tighten and stretch, pulling your head up and your hips down until your entire body is in alignment.
    4. Now, extend the cord down from your tail bone (root chakra) into the ground beneath you. If you are in a building - imagine it extending down through the concrete into the earth itself. Let it go as deep as feels comfortable (my oldest daughter says that it helps her to imagine the cord branching out like tree roots when it reaches the ground - anchoring her more firmly).
    5. Next, feel the negative emotions, the excess energy, the bits and pieces of things that are overwheming you - feel how they are attracted to the cord, attracting all excess like a giant magnet. The cord should now feel slightly heavy - as if it is weighted.
    6. Finally, let gravity do its work - let go of your control on the cord and feel all the negativity, the excess energy, the confusion drain away - down into the ground where it can be converted into energy to be used by others as needed. Depending on how much you have to let go of this last stage can take anywhere from few moments to several minutes.
    Once it has all drained away, open your eyes. You should now feel much more relaxed, focused, and centered. For those who are just begining to learn how to ground it can take several tries to get it right, so don't be surprised if you still feel some negativity or confusion lingering on after your first try.
    *Just a note: There are those who like to add a word or prayer of thanks to the earth for accepting the negativity or excess energy and a request to see that what you have given is used positively. If this resonnates with you, by all means add it. But it is not necessary to be spiritually inclined for this type of grounding meditation to be effective.
    Seriously, it needed bumping.
    There are so many useful and effective ways to go about grounding.
    I usually lie down, start from the feet, and allow the natural energy (like an infinite blue aura) to flow up section by section (feet, lower legs, thighs, stomach, torso, arms, head).
    Once one section is filled with energy, I tell that section to 'Relax. Let go. Sleep'
    ...
    Sometimes, when I intend to, I allow each chakra the energy passes through to light up.
    Its like killing two birds with one ... well... meditation.
    Worst case scenario, if you feel disconnect or high, like after a major meditation or OBE, or after some rough attunements, if grounding fails, it helps to eat. Open the fridge and fill yourself up. The body will force the mind back "in earth" because primary functions supersede everything else.
    So many ways to ground indeed: Eating, exercising, sex, visualization, hugging a tree, gardening, taking a bath, petting or playing with an animal (cats are particularly good for this), playing an instrument....you get the idea
